Hey guys, I have recently been interested in getting the Nintendo DS but now I have learned of the DS Lite so I'm gonna hold off. Can you guys recommend what games I should get? I definately want to get the new Super Mario Bros., Tetris, Mario Kart, and maybe Metroid Prime Hunters. Is there any other good DS games?

Castlevania
Super Princess Peach
Meteos
Kirby Canvas Curse
Mario and Luigi Partners in Time
Mario Kart
These I've heard good things about but haven't tried yet:
Phoenix Write
Trauma Center
Tetris
Warioware Touched
Sonic Rush
These are well liked but not my cup of tea:
Metroid Prime Hunters
Advance Wars DS
Animal Crossing
Feel the Magic
Probably still forgetting a few.

Hey,
Stupid question (I have a history of asking these
) - the DS Lite is obviously powered by batteries as well as having its own AC adapter (but as I'm in the UK I'll need the step down converter with the US Lite).
Can you use UK/Europe batteries with the US/Japanese Lite?
I would guess so.

Batteries? I would assume, that like the DS, you can only power it up via an AC Adapter. For the UK you will either need the step down converter, or it might just be cheaper to buy a Nintendo DS AC adapter from Nintendo UK.
Alternatively, if you have a pc handy, the USB recharger cables for GBAs/DS are fairly cheap from Lik-sang.

Phoenix Wright is an awesome, but not necessarily really replayable, adventure game. I loved it, and a friend has now borrowed it to play.
Advance Wars DS is really more of the same, so get it if you er want more Advance Wars.
Nintendogs is one awesome puppy simulator, but I did get tired of it. If you want a tamagochi style game for your DS this is one to get.
The brain training game is great, particularly if you like sudaku puzzles.

The DS lite, like the DS comes with it's own rechargeable lithium ion battery. I assume you are asking about batteries like AA which the DS does not use. The AC adapter is used to recharge your DS.

IMO, metroid is hard to play. The aiming is intuitive, but it's awkward and hard on the hands. I could never play it for more than 30 minutes or so at a time due to hand cramps.
The single player is pretty worthless as well IMO, so'd I'd reccomend only buying it if you are a big fan of FPS multiplayer deathmatches.

And yes I was referring to batteries like AA batteries, but if you can charge it with the AC adapter (I'll have to use the step down converter too obviously, as I'm in the UK), then cool. I didnt know it had its own rechargable battery.

From the bargain forum here, looks like Circuit City will have New Super Mario Brothers for $27.99 release week.
Target is $34.99, Best Buy thread for that week isn't posted yet as he hasn't got the ad yet.

Indeed.
Closing comments from the ign review:
Before New Super Mario Bros. entered my life, Yoshi's Island was, to me, the greatest platformer ever created. That title may now have to go to New Super Mario Bros.
A lot of what made Yoshi's Island so fantastic was how the designers used graphic capabilities to create and incorporate new gameplay elements into the mix. That's the same with New Super Mario Bros.-- the power of the Nintendo DS makes it possible for new elements like the deforming terrain, giant 3D enemies and obstacles, fully rotating environments, and countless other elements that are more integral to the game design than they are for "ooh neat" effect.
This game can easily be completed in a day if you simply romp through the bare minimum of New Super Mario Bros. level structure. Some levels are easier than others, and boss battles are a bit on the predictable side. To some, this will seem like a disappointment. But like games in Mario's past, there's more to this Nintendo DS game than the minimum requirements - far more levels and challenges await those who try and complete a level by snagging everything before the end.
Admittedly there aren't as many gameplay innovations in New Super Mario Bros. as compared to previous Super Mario releases, but that's mostly due to the fact that much of platforming's innovations are related to 3D designs. But that said, this Nintendo DS release still proves that Nintendo still has some great ideas brewing for its plumber in his classic setting. There's an incredible amount of fresh, fun challenge to uncover in this revival.
Here's to the start of something new for Nintendo's old plumber.
