The overheating Playstation thing was only in the very first run or two of consoles if memory serves and not an ongoing problem for years like the PS2 bad DVD drives. Most people did not have to turn their consoles upside down to get them to work outside of they early adopters of the Playstation.

Still have my PSOne since back when they actually had standard RCA output jacks on it. Still works fine, though I haven't really used it since I picked up the PS2 back in 2002.

i sort of lost interest in gaming after the snes/genesis era. skipped the n64 completely. at my after-prom in 1997, i won a ps1 in a raffle. it got me back into gaming. loved it.

a couple games that stick out for me:

ONE
Poy Poy
SPFII

Anyone have a sales summary for the PS1? Just curious as to how much it sold by region and the game attach ratio etc?

I just brought up "ONE" in the hardest games thread. That game was a technical marvel but tough as hell!

I was always curious about "ONE"...how would it hold up today in terms of control...compared with, say RE4 or Syphon Filter (which I thought was brilliant)?
