Just picked up an HDTV

Just picked up a 42" samsung plasma. I cannot wait to get this thing home and set up with the 360. SWEET!

So for those who upgrade since the 360 came out, how noticable are the graphic upgrades?

Very.

It's especially obvious when you play games like Condemned and Oblivion. You'll be quite pleased.

Excellent. I heard Kameo is pretty nice too, and I have that sitting uncracked so far, might have to pop it in too.

Looks like I might be playing Condemned again sooner than later to collect all those birds now

Can't you buy a converter to allow you to do that?

dude for the lack of anything nice to say, when you hook your 360 to it and put it in 720p and pop in GRAW or Burnout or something you're going to blow your load right in your pants. i've got a samsung LCD and its just freaking awesome, yours will have more vibrant colors so have it, give us a picture of course.

The system looks great on both of my HDTVs. Just wonderful.

Vandelay... Why would you want to see movies on a 19" PC monitor?

Be sure to correctly set your screen to avoid burn in.

Basically, don't leave it on the store settings which are usually pumped up to the max. That's a sure way to burn in.

Switch to movie setting or one of the other ones. Never use Vivid. it shouldn't even be an option on expensive sets with burn in problems.

Don't get paranoid about burn in. It never happened to me with the set properly set. Just better safe than sorry.

Dunno about the Samsung, but some brands of plasmas (like my Panny 50PX50U) do better with 1080i input than 720p, even if the display resolution is closer to the latter than the former.

i haven't checked it out fully yet, but I stuck it in 1080i for the time being. I'll check more closely tonight.

i agree some tvs do better in interlaced mode, but interlaced really sucks but it only cost half the bandwidth and you can fit twice the stations into the same space so its still #1 i hope it dies soon, but it won't in this country for the simple fact billybob is still happy with his 19" 4:3 he bought in 1981 not to mention some people who bought HDTVs first round that only do 480p or 1080i (aka 540p) okay anyway samsungs are awesome in 720p my tv does 1080i also but video games look much better in 720p, your sammy (L&O) will probably be the same as most of their tvs share a lot of the guts.

DIE DIE DIE INTERLACE

OK, so the change to high def is very easy to spot. I'm working through the games I've got and they all look much better. Burnout has some sweet refections on the cars, and as someone said GRAW and Oblivion are breathtaking in 720p.

Very nice choice in TVs man!! Many people will say other TVs are better but for the cost/quality I personally believe everything Samsung makes is top notch.....yeah I'm a Samsung fanboy, but they are a great fucking company and I've seen that particular TV a number of times L&O it's simply amazing looking. Oh make sure you set up all of your calibration, I'm not sure what the optimal settings are for balance on that set but you should be able to find them somewhere.

Anyhow you need to play GRAW and Oblivion on there cause they are both awesome looking games but then you need to sit real close and throw in Burnout and PGR3.. good times

Yeah, I've got to get in there and tweak it a lot still to get rid of some issues. But aside from the stuff I know I can get rid of, I'm loving the set.
