I'm not afraid of anything, but it's a little difficult to get a takedown on someone that's constantly 1/2 mile behind you. If more of you could keep up, maybe you'd be able to offer me a little challenge every once in awhile.

I hosted with my friends the other night and had 6 racers every match and had zero bandwidth issues, FWIW.

I almost snapped my disc in half today. GD some of these single player races piss me off. There is no room for any mistake. One race in particular, you have to get across the finish line in 2:21 or under. The race is on that mountain course with tons of sharp turns, etc. I made the race perfect, no crashes. Just slowed down when I needed to make a curve. I took most of the shortcuts, as there are a few that make you lose boost. I can't get across the finish line any faster then 2:23.

Yeah, those burning laps are killer. I usually get to the point where if I think I could've done a turn slightly better, I will restart. It is pretty frustrating but I am trying to get perfects on everything.

So am I.. I just got a Gold Medal and a Perfect that a lot of people on the Xbox Burnout forum are having problems with. Took me a few tries, but I did it.
Its in the Preview race on Central Route in the Unsafe rank. You have to finish in 49 seconds or under. I got it in 48:40. .2 seconds to spare

I think I got my headset issues worked out. It seemed to be the headset which is good because it's the cheapest of the items. I am using my Halo 2 headset and have had no complaints so far today. Looks like I am back in busniess.....for now.

for those interested in the competition - it looks like the rules have been changed. now it doesn't matter if you score the highest each hour. It looks like you get entered each time you play the level of the week (up to 10 entries each hour) and one person is randomly selected each hour

bummer, kind of makes it less challenging, and harder to actually win.

^ I've been fortunate and run into some good folks playing. A couple different people hung around for many matches, regardless of the mode. One of the guys had his whole team leave in the red/blue matches, so it was 3 on 1, for 8 rounds! He toughed it out and stuck around, when he could have easily quit.

Am I the only one that finds the menu system confusing? How do you tell if you have perfect? Or is it a matter of remembering which ones as you get them?

It's a bit confusing, but no more confusing than the last Burnout game.

The top menu is the difficulty level. You can browse from the easy stages to the hard ones. It will tell you not only how many levels are complete but how many stars are available. The more stars available, the less perfect ratings you've gotten.

Once you're within a difficulty level, it breaks it down into stages. For each stage, you have a summary of events and stars (the difficulty level gets displayed in the top, right side I believe).

Go into the stage, and you see each event, with your star rating. This is my only qualm as it is hard to see if you have done an event vs. getting 5 stars in it already.

So 5 stars means you earned the perfect rating?

*edit - I guess this is where reading the manual would come in handy.

LOL! Yeah. I think an Awesome rating and a Gold give you perfect.

Yes, to get a Perfect in a race, you need to get both a Gold medal and an Awesome rating.
If you just get a Gold medal, but don't achive Awesome, you won't get a Perfect.

If you get all Perfects for a series, Harmless or Unsafe, etc, you get an achivement for each one.

to sum it up: Get a bronze and your rating drops one...from awesome to good.
Silver - it stays the same
Gold i it goes up a rank from good to awesome / awesome to perfect.

Also, don't the crashbreaker races make it too easy to extract revenge? I unlocked my Triple trouble acheivement in my first attempt at a Crashbreaker race. While it was a ton of fun blowing crap up when I get smashed, revenge came easy and wasn't as sweet.

I still need to get the triple trouble one and the other rival related ones offline.
I did get the 2 verticle takedowns in one race by pure luck.
I did a jump and landed on another car for verticle takedown #1. Another car went past me, and as I bounced off car #1, I landed on car #2 for the 2nd verticle takedown.

For all the levels on that list or all the levels total?

I've only gotten a couple of the signature takedowns but I'm not as far as you guys. As far as the vertical takedowns are concerned I've been screwed out of them like twice in single player and then last night my car landed directly on top of UncleGramps' and it didn't give me a vertical takedown. WTF?

I got 2 signature take downs in one race last night. Was pure luck.It was an East Bay race.
I have a lot of the challenge sheets to finish, most I have one or two done. And Signature takedowns.
One challenge sheet, I have 8 of the 10 done.

Total Signature takedowns

And when I get them it's complete luck and I had no idea that was the right spot.

I have one signature takedown and it was my wife who got it. She wanted to play the first day i got it after seeing me run about 3 events. She picks up the controller and within a minute gets a signature takedown, i was even out of the room so i didn't see what it was.

Luckily for my pride Burnout is one of the few games she has played to death in its other iterations. She loves smashing cars up. (then she wonders why i insist on doing all the driving when we are taking a trip)

For anyone who cares, here's a list of all of the signature takedowns and where to get them.
