Do you have an idea of how that can be done?

If so, I can redo their spreadsheet to reflect the inflated figures.

I don't think it WOULD be more helpful. We're only talking about a year difference or so for each generation of consoles. Inflation isn't a significant factor. Look at each grouping of games and you'll find the ones that spike up amongst their competitors failed.

I'm just being nitpicky here, but the N64 was actually $250 when it debuted, and a few months later dropped down to $200...

Damn, so my parents actually dropped a bundle of cash, so I could "learn" with the Odyssey2's keyboard (instead of contaminate my mind with the 2600) back in the day

It was never actually its announced $250. It had a pre-launch price cut.

But whoever did the chart did miss Intellivision's price. It was $350 at Christmas of 1980. When stores were finally resupplied in April and May of 1981 [yes, it took over four months for ANY to arrive], the price was raised to $370.

I don't remember, and can't imagine, Mattel launching it at $300 in 1979.

Intellivision is what I had growing up. I wonder when my parents got it. I can't imagine them spending so much money on one, so it must've been several years after release. That's crazy. Even worse for my dad that he dropped all that money just to stop playing because a 5 year old was beating him.

I wish.

I actually did that on paper one day, didn't think of making a chart. Would be the first useful chart I've ever made.

Oh now I see. It's from the same source as my non inflated chart.

Well, apparently now we are sheep and will buy the console with no games according to Reeves Seems he has few folks upset today even if he speaks abit of truth better left unsaid. Man if this keeps up those ebay scalpers maybe sitting on few units.

It's a shame, but I'm not suprised that Heavenly Sword got pushed to 2007. The dev I spoke to at E3 didn't seem to confident the game would make launch.

I am suprised the EyeToy is going to be delayed. Sony was pushing that heavily at E3. On another note, I bet 20% to 30% of those 15 games at launch will be craptacular versions of EA Sports games just like the first gen of 360 EA Sports stuff.

What I really dont understand is why they say the PS3 is $200 bucks more than the 360. I really dont see any difference between the premium 360 bundle & and "cheap" PS3 one. I dont think the 360 has an HDMI out and unless they add one onto the back of the HD-DVD add-on it won't be able to do 1080P either.

Yeah but there is an almost sure bet the 360 will price drop. A rumor said that it would drop to $300 just before the Playstation 3 launched. Unconfirmed but it makes total business sense.

The new Game Informer has an awesome article about Assassin's Creed, that games looks awesome. Better than Oblivion awesome. I can't wait to try it out.

I didn't mean graphics-wise (although that does look good), I meant gameplay/A.I.-wise.

According to Joysitq:

"Heavenly Sword, Formula One, and Motorstorm will not come out until "after Christmas."

And those were the only 3 games I was interested in. Bummer.

Resistance Fall of Man will definutly (according to the devolopers) be a launch title. Resistance looks very promising. Great visuals and Insomiac has never made a bad game.

Huh?

Sony makes moves to stamp out lucrative second-hand market

Words: Matt Cundy
Wednesday 24 May 2006

High street games shops have been told by Sony that there will be no PS3 pre-owned sections in their stores as it will be illegal for customers to sell any next-gen PlayStation games that they've bought, retail sources have revealed to GamesRadar.

It seems that Sony is planning to adopt a licensing system that will mean gamers won't own the PS3 titles that they've paid money for. Instead, they will only be purchasing the licence to play the game and that the software itself will still be Sony property - meaning that the disc won't be the customer's to sell.

We assume that the thinking behind this move will ultimately be to stop PS3 games being resold several times - which currently snatches potential sales away from Sony - and to counter the impression in consumers' minds that games are only really worth their pre-owned price and are not worth buying new.

When we contacted Sony, it issued us with the following statement: "We have made all of the official announcements at E3 and cannot make any further comments at this time. We will be announcing more news running up to PlayStation 3's launch."
