Granted, my characters is kick ass right now. Level 27. Strength is around 85 or so (100+ with enchanted armor).

For the spiders, I use invisibility and then a silence spell. Keeps them from casting or summonning that mini spider daedra. I hate that little spider thing. Creeps me out and keeps paralyzing me. Damn bugs!

I just did this last night and was kicking myself for not figuring this out days ago when I first got access to the Arcane University.

Give them 500 gp and then their max sale will permanently go up to 1700. If you bump your Mercantile skill up to 100 you can also get the barter numbers near 70 (depends on the merchant).

So how often are you all saving? And do you overwrite often? After logging 85 hours, I have 192 saves. I also create a new save every time I level up - so at level 17 I have 17 Oblivion save files. My 85 hours is misleading though, as I have fallen asleep more than once at the controls.
I find my save count goes up drastically when I'm down to my last lockpick.

I learned to save very often thanks to Morrowind. I'm at about 65 hours and have well over 300 saves. I think I keep about 5 or 6 which I cycle through saving over.

I'm not quite that bad. I think I'm around 600 or so. After every 10 hours of game play I keep a save game. Why? I don't know.
Just in case I really screw something up without knowing it then I can go back without having to start all over again.
I use about 10 save games and cycle through them. When I'm in a dungeion, I'll recycle every 5 saves so I don't have to scroll down so much.
I've been thinking of making some save games of the afternoon sun or daybreak when you're in the hills above the Imperial City so I can easily show off how pretty this game is.

I did the first Fighter's guild quest, the rats. I did the begining and middle, and I thought the end, but it seems that the last couger killed all of the rats, so the lady was pissed and I din't get the last part of the mission, but the guild guy still promoted me and gave me the next mission. Did I lose out on something other than a little money?

My question for those who have completed the main quest:
I am trying to finish the main quest and am at the part where you have to close all the Oblivion gates at every town. I have closed 4 out of 5 or 6 at this point. How much longer do I have in gameplay to finish it out? I really just want the game to end at this point. Anybody know how many more hours it should take? I'm at like 44 hours at this point.

Can anybody help me out with the theives guild glitch? I didn't know about it until it was too late and now I really screwed myself over becasue I saved before I knew about the glitch. It happened on the "Ahdarjis's Heirloom" quest where you have to steal the ring from the castle. Unfortunatley I didn't talk to Ahdarji to where she raises the reward to 200g before stealing the ring, and now I can't sell it back to her! Plus I can't drop it on the ground because it is a quest item. I also tried getting myself arrested so that they would take all of my stolen goods, but it didn't work. Does anybody know a solution to this?

Are you planning a party for them? That, or did you try to type your sentance in spanish and babelfish it back to english?
I've found a few caves with vampires. Bloodcrust Cavern, I believe.
I'm trying to find a daedra heart. I closed 3 random oblivion gates I found. And I can't remember any of the caves where I found daedra in them. I need a heart for one of the daedric shrine quests.

Once you hit level 20 pretty much every gate should have some creature that will drop a deadra heart.

I can't find any more oblivion gates. Thats my issue. I don't want to continue the main quest yet and I know once you do, more obilvion gates pop up.
I've found 3 random ones around the map and closed those. I haven't seen any others open up lately. Though I do have lots of unexplored parts of the map. Guess I need to go walking around a lot.

I thought that the random gates were always there, regardless of how far into the main quest you are. Go all the way to the southeast part of the map (Blackwood), there is a higher concentration of gates there.

Maybe throughout the main quest, but I think once you complete the main quest, they are all gone. I'll wander around that area and some way up in the northwestern part of the map near Chorall.

I hope this hasn't been asked before but,
Where can I find a low level conjur spell? I am at level 4 with a conjur skill of 9pts. I really need to find a low level spell so I can get my skill up.

I would like to know that, and how to obtain soul capture as well.
Actually, how do you "learn" spells, I mean a scroll is one time use, right? So how do I go about having the permanet ability to cast spells?

Each city that has a mage guild focuses on one class of spells. I forget the city that focuses on conjuration though, so just check in each mages guild and you will find one.
To buy a spell permanently when you talk to a person some will have a persuasion option and to the right of that a barter, repair, or a spells option. You choose the spells and it gives you a list of what they are selling and you buy it just like an item. The first i purchased early on summoned a scamp that casts the flare spell. Now i have zombies, storm, frost, and fire daedra as well as the spider one.
