Amazing, wasn't it?
Pretty damn fine. The story and the journey >>> the ending, but it was still great. Now I need to finish off JJ and try again for that secret ending. Although, it may just be easier to restart on Hard mode than to try and finish all the tournaments and sephiroth That *BLEEP!* (oh noes, the cesnors!) killed me in 2 hits when I first found him at level 50.

Speaking of "the censors"...
Spoiler:
I had a great time fighting "Moses"

Completion of Jiminy's Journal - 95%
Completion of Gummi Routes - 11% And I even did like 4 or 5 extra ones!

So Pinata, what was your hours played damage? I don't really see myself doing all the side quests and all. I'm pretty much in this mainly for the meat.

Around 40, maybe 1 or 2 less. I'm sure I spent 5-10 just on sidequests. I'm debating going back through on Hard mode, skipping all the scenes, skipping the whole JJ thing. I'm thinking that should about 15-20 hours of game. Maybe more if it requires some power-leveling. Agrabah's Magic Carpet is wonderful for that.

Edit: Just looked. My final save is at 34:23. I really think a < 20-hour Hard mode is easily possible. I may start that tonight

You beat Lance Bass?

The only hard part for me was the poster mission and the Hades Cup.. and then that was only the last 10 battles (actually, about half of the last 10 battles). But if you make it to battle 41 you can practice that set of ten over and over to prepare for a full run. All I'll say is to make great use of Peter Pan and Stitch in the first twenty to have a chance in hell to get the required score.

The Underworld (out of battle) <- CATCHY AS HELL!
Coliseum Battles
Atlantica
Ursula Battle musical
Tron (in and out of battle)
TWTNW (in and out of battle)
The music played when [spoiler] removes his blindfold.
Gummi Ship Pirate Level
Gummi Ship Highway Level

Hollow Bastion's out of battle theme was my favorites from the first game.. I don't quite like the new version at all.
I just got to Atlantica, I love that music! Also gotta love the battle music in the Pirate's level and the gummi ship's. I haven't ran into any parts that were too difficult so far, challenge seems about right, I'm enjoying the game a lot! I have yet to try the underdrome, I'm actually going there right as I hit submit.

Question, Pixy: What isn't required to complete JJ? I'm curious if I have to do all the Synthesis tasks and/or Combinations/Limits (not that that would be hard).

Just follow all the missions in the Journal and you'll be okay. Basically you'll need the little gold Mickey emblem next to each item in the Journal. You'll probably have to run around gathering synth items since you'll need 30 of each shard, 25 of each stone and 20 of each gem (for blaze, frost, lighting, lucid, dark, twilight and dense items) to complete the synth list.. but that should help level you up to prepare for fighting Lance Bass and the Hades Cup. Oh, and yes, you will need to do each Limit at least once.

Thanks. I pretty much came to that conclusion over the weekend. Completing the synth lists is going to be a right bitch. I have 29/50. Still have to get 1000 elements and the other 20 are the shard/stone/gem collections. Ugh. That's what I'll be hunting after for the next night or two.

I only just finally got Final Form (level 77) so now I can complete my Limit list w/ Genie. Only have Save the King and + for actual synth items left to make. Then it is on to the missions.

I know I'm behind you guys, but DAMN was fighting the hydra fun!

I wasted like 20-odd minutes in (and out) of the underworld because I didn't notice Meg in that stone thingy.

If you equip every Lucky Lucky you have (natural ability + weapon) plus the Luck Ring you should have NO issue whatsoever getting all the items.. for some it's just a matter of tracking down the only enemy that drops an item. For example, Assassins are the only enemy that drops Twilight Gems but as far as I can tell, they're only four of them in one room of The World That Never Was.. on the opposite side, it seems those Crimson Mage bastards are in EVERY world so you'll have quite the abundance of Blazing Crystals. My final total synth items was close to 3000.

I started a new game last night on Proud Mode.. I miss all my super-powers!

Yeah, I've had LL equipped as long as it's been available. Donald's always worn my Lucky Ring and he and Goofy have their LL weapons even though "stronger" ones exist. I don't have a problem getting drops, it's getting the drops I want

I've been fighting the Assassins in that room. The one right before "Proof of Existence". I warp in there, go bash them up, head back to the Gummi, repeat.

What will be really annoying is wanting to level up Final Form, but not wanting to lose Donald & Goofy and the 5 Lucky Lucky abilities/items they have equipped while in that Form.

I'm approaching 900 for my total synth items. I certainly hope I finish before 3000!

Hmm.. good point. I'm not sure if you "lose" those when going into a form. I bet a good way to test that would be to equip both Goofy and Donald with all Jackpots (I forgot if they had Jackpot weapons as well but there is a Jackpot ring) go into Master/Final Form and see if the Jackpots are still in effect (there'd be a visual noticeable difference).

Leveling Final Form was pretty lame.. there aren't a lot of places with a meaty number of Nobodies so I was essentially stuck farming the same spot for that form, whereas the other forms are levelable all over.

Oh, I was also informed of playing as Mickey this weekend (noted by my confusion of the "Times Save by Mickey" on the Battle Report).. apparently the times I did die were not in places where he would come save you. So on my new save I created a separate file at the end of Land of the Dragons so I can check Mickey out whenever I want to. He rocks so much.

I'll probably equip the Lucky Lucky weapon (Sweet Memories?) as my primary Keyblade and take Donald's Lucky Ring, reducing my AP, so at least in Form I'll be ok. Ultima will just have to get demoted temporarily

I always had Sora with the Luck Ring and Sweet Memories (which means I pretty much missed seeing half the Keyblades in the game) but I'm the kind of guy that plays an RPG solely to level up and collect loot. I fiddled with Experience Boost on Proud Mode but deemed it a bit too dangerous to actively use.. at least until I get two "death protection" skills (Once More and.. er, I forget the other one). Though, I'd imagine stacking that with the Gull Wing Keyblade and running around getting quadruple experience (or would it be triple?) would be pretty sweet.

Are you watching all the story again? I imagine I'd watch the Roxas stuff again to see how it ties in with what I learned at the end. Watch/listen for blatant lying by the point of a particular voice actor

Going more onto the spoilerful ending discussion now, sorry.
Spoiler:
Since I've been watching Another Side, Another Story and Deep Dive for the better part of 2 years now, I've come to know them quite well. I was absolutely floored by how they've had everything planned out. Fighting Xemnas at the Skyscraper of Memories which basically mirrors the Roxas vs. Riku (which we now know!) fight was the stuff of dreams. All the quotes said by the various players that are clearly visible in the previous teasers is absolutely incredible. "This time... I'll fight." "We'll go together."

Nothing makes me happier when following a series (be it book, movie, tv, game, etc) than realizing that they didn't necessarily make it up as they went and there was an overall arc to it. That's when I know my time was well spent.

Now, I haven't seen the new secret movie yet and I don't know anything about it, but as soon as I unlock it, I'm certainly going to try to find a ripped version or rip one myself so I can study it for the next 2 or 3 years and I'll love every minute of it!

I've done this a bit in my game. I think it is just triple. I think the synth hunting will naturally work that out in my case. I may do it again to get up to 99 if I need to.

As much as I wanted to speed through that part I had to watch it all again to see the little "hidden" bits. When "Ansem" introduced himself to "DiZ" and "DiZ" starting laughing bemusedly I got such a kick out of that. There are a few little gems like that in the Roxas section that beget extra amusement if you've been through the game once.

Spoiler:
Ah, don't get TOO excited. Another Side, Another Story and Deep Dive weren't as "thought out" as you may think. I read an interview with Nomura and he confirmed that he had a basic idea but those were both "concept" movies because they had no idea Kingdom Hearts would sell as well as it did. When development began on KH2 that he created a list of things to make sure were put into the game based on those movies. You'll no doubt notice that there's no explanation given as to why Mickey and Riku had Organization XIII cloaks other than "they were in ASAS/Deep Dive" but regardless, they did a fine job making sure everything was in the game for those that over-analyze the teasers! He also confirmed that the KH2 secret movie is more thought through and he knows where's he's going with it if they make KH3. Since you've played KH1 I'll just tease you in that the secret movie opens with a quote from that game: "The Keyblade is a phenomenal weapon. One legend states its wielder brought peace to the world, another says he wrought chaos upon it."

By the way, I wanted to hammer my controller when they gave Kairi a Keyblade. ARGH!

Spoiler:
Why do you have to ruin my dream? One thing that caught my attention was something about previous Keyblade masters. I think Xemnas said something about Sora thinking he was different than the previous one(s). Sounds very Matrix-eqsue, and that isn't a good thing in my book. I hope the next one isn't a prequel... I hope to get to that movie soon.

Another thing I really enjoyed was one of the forms of Xemnas trying to pit Riku and Sora against each other. Playing off jealousy and mistrust. It was during the battle with the throned "Nobody King" and the remnants of TWTNW.

That final form cheaped me out twice when I got to the massive laser barrage. The first time I was actively trying to cast Reflegra and the second I was only hitting X for Sora to deflect the blasts and Riku got perforated. The third time I realized I had to pound X and Triangle simultaneously it was a breeze.

Spoiler:
One thing that I didn't like about the last battle was that damn cut-scene smack in the middle of it. It brought the last battle to a screeching halt. I wish they would have handled the Roxas/Namimé reunion elsewhere and just found a quick and clean way to separate Goofy and Donald from you after beating the first instance of the Nobody King and get you right into the Dragon Ship. I remember thinking "Holy crap this is awesome!" and when that cut-scene came I was at first "That's it? There's no way in hell.." and once the battle began again it took a while to get back on that train of excitement.. it killed the pacing of what could have been the ultimate thirty minute non-stop roller-coaster of a last battle.

About the "previous" Keyblade masters.. keep that in mind as you finish up your Journal!

I don't think there'll be a prequel. Noruma stated that Kingdom Hearts will always be Sora's story so the most that I think will happen is Sora will learn about a lot of back-story on the Keyblade if they choose to focus on that. He also mentioned that because of this, it'll be harder and harder to make continuations of the story.. (they've already aged the characters a year in the story and about three years visually).

Speaking of.. man does Riku not ooze fan-service or what? It just seems his new look and demeanor are purposely done in a way to drive crazy fan-girls insane. Heh, at any rate I kind of hope they keep the characters where are age-wise for the next game.

Ah, you're in for some real treats then! The boss battles in this game are cool as hell with all the special reaction commands and such. While they don't add much (some would say they take away) from a strategy point-of-view, they sure make them fun.

4 hours, 12 levels, and about 700 synth items later, I'm down to just 2 lists left to complete: Lucid Shards and Lucid Gems. Gems I've got a good spot to mine (just too beat to do it now), but I'm having a tough time finding a decent supply of Lucid Shard enemies in a repeatable loop. Best I've found is Port Royal, but I'd either have to use the Black Pearl to get far enough away for the enemies to respawn or just get back in the Gummi Ship after every run-in. Once that's out of the way, I guess it is back to TWTNW to beef up my Final Form.

I'm pretty sure I circled Halloween Town taking out the Ghost Heartless for Lucid Shards.. well, I know I killed a bunch of those Ghosts for something.. I'd try there. If my memory serves me, the other Heartless in that area drop Lucid Gems, namely those Jack-in-the-Box Heartless.
