Its the main reason I've not joined the next generation of gaming as of yet. Games have cost $50 since Super Nintendo/Nintendo days, why change it now? Oh right. Greedy bastards.
You can't blame this one on MS. MS is selling all first party games at $49.99. It's the 3rd party companies selling them at $59.99.

Games today have much more production value, a lot more people working on them, big name voice over, advertising, etc. So the cost of making a game has risen significantly.

On the other hand, more games are being sold (less profit needed on each disc sold), storage media and replication much cheaper, bigger audience, etc. So the ability to distribute games and make a profit is much easier.

Unless you know the answer to all those factors, you really don't know if games should be increasing in price or not.
I agree with most of that.

I don't agree on this. It's correct in theory, but not in the actual marketplace.

Higher production costs has made it neccesary to have high sales for a game to not lose millions of dollars.

Not every game is going to be a hit, so the hit games are going to have to cover the losses of the lower performers. That sounds like a good justification for higher prices.

Meh. I won't pay $60 for a game, especially when there are so many from the current generation that I still haven't played. If you want to, though, be my guest.

I don't see why MS would be charging higher licensing fees. The last thing they want to do is piss off 3rd party devs/publishers.
