31 PS3 games listed at Gamestop.com
Now these dates are by no means concrete, but it's still interesting all the same.
All of them have a 10/1/06 date except MGS4 which is listed as 12/01/06. Gamestop PS3 listings Why is the PS3 sticky locked? |

Thanks for link! I clearly forgot how first year titles are never aimed at me. I cant say more then 2 in that list I have a faint interest in.

F-1 damn I want an F-1 game for the 360 :(
|
Wait, so we HAVE a release date for the PS3? I thought it was still in the air between 2006 and 2007
|
These are just titles that were shown/announced since E-3. In the past two days, there seems to be a lot of information being released (though, in the form of rumor via various publications). It looks like EB is getting a jump on the information before it gets dumped. Though, an October/November US release after a March Japan release would be consistant with the PS2 launch.
The PS3 sticky is locked because I deleted the thread (and Gallant Pig resurected it). I'm still waiting to a response to my email that he requested. |
Why in the world would Ubisoft release King Kong for the PS3 when the current game and movie will be nearly a year old?? Makes no sense to me.

After Gallant Pig brought it back, I made the suggestion to delete all the posts after my initial posts (which I put a lot of work into), and I would continue to update those main posts, but stay out of all the other discussion. I still have not heard back from him, so I'm not sure what the fate of the thread is. |
Thanks for the info.

Wait, so we HAVE a release date for the PS3? I thought it was still in the air between 2006 and 2007 The varied date for the other titles and MGS4 is probably just meant to separate the title as "Not a launch title". |

The only company that seems to be able to announce a product and have plenty available to purchase the very next day is Apple. The others should take notes from Jobs. |
Looks like a pretty bland list.. though some titles don't lead you to the type of game they'd be. And of course, all of it seems to be made-up so I wouldn't take this list seriously. Their practice of taking money for games that may not even exist or have no foreseeable release date is vile.. among the other deplorable things those stores do that are damaging video game collecting.

I do think we could see it in the late spring in Japan barring any more delays and the games are ready, perhaps Late May / Early June. |
IIRC, Sony was pretty quiet about the PS2 until February of 2000 at the PlayStation Meeting when they dropped everything and launched a month later. This conceivably happen again. The fact that they haven't talked about a strong release date could very well be to keep Microsoft and Nintendo complacent from making any firm plans of their own. Remember, Sony didn't have to worry about Nintendo launching, or Sega dropping a monster title like they do now (of course, now that would be Microsoft dropping the next Halo). If you keep your competition out of the loop, you keep them off your back.
Of course this is all speculation on my part. |

The game HAS NOT EVEN BEEN OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED. I just laughed at the cashier and moved on. |

Of course this is all speculation on my part. If it is a "system that is going to make people want to work extra shifts to afford" you would think they would give people a time frame so they can start saving for it. Not just spring an expensive product on the market and expect it to fly off shelves. |

Not just spring an expensive product on the market and expect it to fly off shelves. I completely agree with that. I think it would be horribe marketing to just supprise everyone and have it ready so early. The ps3 wont be out for many many months after the price is announced. Plus I think they will try to avoid the same mistake as last time and have enough units on floor for its release |
I'm disappointed that with Microsoft's help, next gen games appear to be costing $59.99 instead of $49.99.
Its the main reason I've not joined the next generation of gaming as of yet. Games have cost $50 since Super Nintendo/Nintendo days, why change it now? Oh right. Greedy bastards. |
You mean $60-80 in the SNES days I imagine..
|
Of course. The 3 or 4 games in the SNES days that cost that much due to cart restrictions should take half the blame. Not the bulk of 360 DVDs that take less than a dollar to press.

Games today have much more production value, a lot more people working on them, big name voice over, advertising, etc. So the cost of making a game has risen significantly. On the other hand, more games are being sold (less profit needed on each disc sold), storage media and replication much cheaper, bigger audience, etc. So the ability to distribute games and make a profit is much easier. Unless you know the answer to all those factors, you really don't know if games should be increasing in price or not. |
