PC Game Selection Request
I'm looking for some suggestions for a game to get or the PC. here's the situation: my buddy finally got a decent computer and could now feasibly play online games. What we're looking for is a good, simple FPS to play against each other (I don't think he'd enjoy being thrown into a public server at this point. And frankly, I suck too). I'd prefer it to be more real-life than sci-fi or fantasy.
It doesn't need to be cutting edge, so budget or older titles are fine as long as the gameplay is fun, and the learning curve is short.
I know there's a multiplayer version of Wolfenstein that's available for free, aas well as Tribes 1 & 2. Anyone know if any of those are any good, or have any other games that come to mind?
I guess I'll be learning how to put together a little 2-man server, or maybe I can use Hamachi? Any pointers or help in this area would also be welcome)
Thanks!

I would say don't play old games that really won't help you all that much with the newer games.
My choice would be Halflife 2. D/L it from www.steampowered.com.Great FPS and online play is one of the best. If he doesn't want to play on public server right away just make your own with a password. Still, I would jump into public pretty fast in order to learn more quickly and just understand you will get owned for a while but will be better in the long run.

i would say the first Call of Duty would kick ass for you guys, its cheap and you can get it and the expansion for like 25 to 30 dollars. it is the oldest game i have and it still kicks ass. and if the computer is new Call of Duty 2 kicks more major ass but its still 50 or 60 dollars.
