360 component or VGA HD ?

I've a panny 42" plasma 42pwd8uk to be exact. I have both component and vga hookups. Will the VGA HD hookup give me that much better of a picture over component hookup? With games? what about with DVD's?

thanks all

The VGA input on my mitsubishi is only 480p. You may want to check yours.

I use the VGA cable because it frees up a component input. I don't notice any quality advantage over component though (unless as edstein suggests if your VGA input only accepts 480p).

all tvs are different, but from a computer nerds POV i'd use the component which is what i'm doing. most of the time vga won't support an interlaced singnal it wasn't made for that and the sync gets weird. i know my tv won't support an interlaced siginal on the vga but will do the standard 480p, 720p, and all of the computer progressive resolutions inbetween. on the componet the tv goes 480i to 1080i and everything inbetween. its your call man, but i wouldn't waste the money on the cable if you've already got the standard ones that came with the 360. and don't forget to change your settings so you get the highest whatever from your 360, i didn't change mine at first and was playing in 480p for 5 hours but now its 1080i
