I tried beating the giant steel gorilla enough times. I didn't really like Strider, and I like the batch of games we have for this one. I don't know Zed Blade, but it looks like a pretty basic two button shoot em up.

But it's funny that you have been picking games that I used to been able to play for long stretches in the arcade days. Thanks man!

Figured it was something like that. I wanted to ask though, did you have a method for passing the "ski jump w/ bombs" area on Strider? The only way I could do it was to walk off the ledge (so he would grab to the side), then climb up so I was barely standing on the top and jump from there. Seemed like a really lame way to do it.
I also wussed out and played for score. I used a full minute and a half killing wolves at 50 pts a pop so I could get close to your score. I knew I wouldn't be able to get any points in the air part.

Were you jumping down the hill or running? When I tried it running I was getting hit by the bombs I think. I was jumping but it was impossible that way too, because when you jumped off the lip you'd get hit by one of the explosions. I had to create a saved state and tried it a ton of times before I found something that worked. I would jump off the lip and land on the bottom ledge and then immediately jump to the left and hang under the lip before pulling myself up. I'm gonna feel really stupid if all you had to do was run and never jump.

*edit
Yup, just did it again on the first try. You just run and jump.

We don't have a rule against "point leeching", but it can make it kind of boring.
Here's what MARP says about it in their rules:
"Point or life leeching is strongly discouraged, and banned on some games, as described in the banned techniques list, or in the specific game's special rules. You cannot continuously gain points without some degree of risk and you must keep moving to complete a level."
That being said, if you look at the scores for Elevator Action 2 and Elevator Action Returns, one of the players gets complaints for leeching, but it was obviously allowed for that game.

Actually, I am somewhat offended by the accusation/comment about "leeching". I admitted to milking each screen for its worth. By this, I am talking about actually taking the time to destroy everything, picking up anything that are worth points, and aiming my shots to score double points for each kill [For those that doesn't know yet, if you manage to kill a bad guy by ANY MEANS other than shooting them with bullets, you score double points.] In other words, I made the efforts to maximize my score in each and every area. What I didn't bother doing was idly waiting by a door and kill critters as they come out. Now, something like that would clearly be "leeching".
