They don't keep them on the shelves when they're in. You have to ask. It's the only way you'll know other than seeing a customer walking out with one.

Yes. I mentioned this before. Best Buy and Circuit City are most likely going to leave them in the back. If they put out 12 360s on the floor, there would still be a stampede of people rushing towards them.

I've only seen them out at one Best Buy and they were behind the CS counter.

I hate to say but I blame Microsoft for allot of this. High demand has caused nothing but greed while leaving true gamers out in the cold. They need to step up and assure those wanting a 360 they're working on getting more units to market. As long as a few units come in and go in less than an hour then you'll continue to see it all on e-bay. Flat out "BU## SH*$"

Kenny J.

Someone is selling a *core* system with an opening bid of $550 and a buy it now of $990.

I know the 360 is still in demand, but I think some people have no idea of how to setup an auction. For some strange reason, there are no bids.

Edit: On the other hand, it has 6 plus days left so I guess it's possible that someone will buy it.

XBOX360 03-16-06 12:44 PM

Has anyone ordered theirs off CompUSA yet?

After getting your extra controller, a game, and maybe the play and charge kit:

Total came to $573.68?

Legolas 03-16-06 06:04 PM

If people really want an Xbox, they should just go to CircuitCity.com, get the Core bundle, remove all the bundled items but keep the HD.

Well, I had to buy the Core System. BUT I FOUND A 360!

I was perfectly happy holding out, but my wife really wanted the system for Oblivion, so this week I started hunting. After three morning trips to Best Buy I found they got two Cores in today, and that was all. I bought the last one. The guys with the other one were checking out as I came in.

When talking to the BB employee (an actual smart, knowledgable guy), he said he has had three guys in recently all looking to buy one now because of their wives.

Michael T Hudson 03-16-06 08:03 PM

I checked Best Buy tonight they had a core system. I almost picked it up but with the price of the wireless controller I passed.

LOL, I forgot cores came with a wired controller.

PalmerJoss 03-17-06 11:11 AM

I just got home from the Best Buy in Nashua NH and they had 2 core systems sitting on the shelves, but no Premium systems. So maybe MS is finally getting their act together and shipping more systems?

DJariya 03-17-06 01:11 PM

Now that the PS3 is delayed until November, I still think getting a 360 will be a hefty chore. Unless I see them readily available on the floor without having to get some ticket on a 1st come, 1st serve basis etc, I will still think the damn thing has major shortages.

lotsofdvds 03-17-06 02:00 PM

Gamestop.com says they have bundles in stock to ship now:

Fade to Black 03-17-06 09:27 PM

I wasn't in a hurry to get a 360 yet but I'd been checking the futureshop website from time to time to see if they had any In Stock and today when I checked they had 34 so I ended up ordering one. After I'd ordered mine there were 27 left and when I checked a couple hours later they were all sold out.

DJariya 03-17-06 11:00 PM

One of the issues I have with the system is the backwards compadibility list stinks. I mean NBA Live 2003 and 2004??? Why isn't 06 on there?

The sad thing is you know some are heading for E-Bay. You just don't know how many. Like me and several have said, "until I walk in and grab one off the shelf without fighting and standing outside before the door opens ..4-geta-bout-it!!".

RockStrongo 03-20-06 08:17 AM

I finally saw one of these in the stores...it was a core system at Target in Watauga....they had one left.

Because 360 has its on version of NBA Live 06 and they want you to play/buy that one instead.

Draven 03-20-06 09:25 AM

Best Buy Store Locator is STILL not showing any 360s near me, ever. Wasn't March supposed to be the month they came rolling in?

nodeerforamonth 03-20-06 11:12 AM

What are you talking about? They got 5 in last week!

Shimmer35 03-20-06 01:32 PM

Got the call today from EB Games that mine came in today. I wish I was able to pick it up today but I'll have to wait until tomorrow :( Oh well, at least I finally have one if those bastards don't sell it :) I made it quite clear to the manager that it better be there tomorrow though

Costco seems to have an OK bundle in stock for $489.99.

Looks like the shortage is about to come to an end, and in March as promised. I for one am happy about this because I do think it gets old when gamers say they want one and can't get one. I tell you, between the PSP and the 360 my whole take on gaming has changed. Back when I was a kid playing the genesis it was a fun little diversion then I got out of gaming. I bought an Atari Jaguar because it seemed like it would be THE future of gaming, boy was I wrong, I think I sold that thing off to a pawn shop a couple months after getting it and only like 3 games. Then I got back in with the PS2 and it was a fun diversion, then my xbox took over the PS2 and it was fun, but really really fun. Now with the PSP and 360, I am actually playing games all the way through and having a blast. I jsut beat condemned the other day and it was one of my all time favorite games. I hear they are going to make a follow-up and a movie, I can't wait for those. I just hope that guy Uwe Boll doesn't direct it.

While I'm not sure what the link you posted said (it's blocked from work) I can post this news release here:

Microsoft Announces Xbox 360 Inventory Surge and Spring Games LineupXbox Live on Xbox 360 speeds past 10 million downloads.

REDMOND, Wash. — March 21, 2006 — Microsoft Corp. today announced the broader availability of Xbox 360™ consoles and provided details about the new games and entertainment experiences available to gamers this season.

Beginning this week, Microsoft will distribute two to three times the number of Xbox 360 consoles to the retail channel weekly. With component supplies in full production and third manufacturing partner Celestica Inc. now producing the next-generation console along with partners Wistron Corp. and Flextronics Corp., Microsoft is producing more Xbox 360 consoles than ever.

"Today we have turned a major corner," said Peter Moore, corporate vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business in the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. “With more consoles on their way to retail, 80 games available by June, and new content and experiences coming to Xbox Live® all the time, there has never been a better time to own an Xbox 360."

Blockbuster Games on the Way
The Xbox 360 games portfolio expands this spring with new next-generation titles from leading developers and publishers that cater to every genre, age, skill level and budget. Gamers can choose from a range of truly next-generation games such as "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" (Bethesda Softworks/2K Games), an Xbox 360 console exclusive with beautiful next-generation graphics and a huge world to explore; "Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter" (Ubisoft Entertainment SA), the latest version of the successful Tom Clancy series that once again pushes the boundaries of multiplayer boundaries on Xbox Live; and "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend" (Eidos Interactive Ltd.), the next-generation debut of the very popular Lara Croft series.

In addition, new titles are coming to Xbox Live Arcade all the time, including "Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting," "Uno" and the free full version of "Texas Hold ’Em Poker" by Riverbelle. Great titles that gamers can expect this season include these:
• "2006 FIFA World Cup™" (EA SPORTS)
• "Battlefield 2: Modern Combat" (Electronic Arts Inc.)
• "Blazing Angels" (Ubisoft)
• "Burnout Revenge" (Electronic Arts)
• "Dynasty Warriors® 5 Empires" (KOEI)
• "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" (Bethesda Softworks/2K Games)
• "Far Cry Instincts Predator" (Ubisoft)
• "FINAL FANTASY® XI" (Square Enix Inc.)
• "Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter" (Ubisoft)
• "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend" (Eidos)
• "Major League Baseball 2K6" (2K Sports)
• "The Outfit™" (THQ)
• "Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis" (Rockstar Games)
• "Rumble Roses XX™" (Konami)
• "Top Spin 2" (2K Sports)
• "X-Men: The Official Game" (Activision)

In addition to new games, consumers can extend the experience of existing Xbox 360 titles with new downloadable content available on Xbox Live Marketplace. Microsoft Game Studios confirmed new content for "Project Gotham Racing® 3," including exciting cars and achievements. Fans of "Perfect Dark: Zero™" will have access to additional content, including downloadable multiplayer maps. In addition, the unique experience of "Kameo™: Elements of Power™" will be extended through new online cooperative gameplay options and exciting new costumes for Kameo and her warriors.

Xbox Live Digital Content Distribution Sets Records
Xbox Live Marketplace, a digital download center freely accessible to any Xbox 360 owner with a broadband connection, has reached more than 10 million downloads faster than iTunes did when it launched. In fact, more than 85 percent of connected Xbox 360 consoles have already downloaded content from Xbox Live Marketplace — everything from game demos and arcade titles to premier movie trailers and music videos.
Xbox 360 will continue to deliver new online gaming and entertainment experiences including the "Battlefield 2: Modern Combat" game demo (Electronic Arts), the "Burnout Revenge" game trailer (Electronic Arts), and the "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" Horse Armor Pack (Bethesda Softworks/2K Games), which will all be available this spring on Xbox Live Marketplace.

"getting old" or not, it's the truth. Microsoft has made about 1/2 dozen statements about the shortages since the launch. Enough with the statements...just make the freakin things! Nothing will speak louder and stronger than having units on the shelves.

The 360 experience has shown me that videogaming has come a long way since the Atari and Intellivision days... and has also sunk a lot lower too. I can't think of an industry where hype and lies are as integral to it as it is in videogaming.

Note to Microsoft: 3 times zero is still ZERO!

s}{ammer 03-21-06 01:40 PM

You do realize they are producing more than 0 consoles right? I can walk into the kmart here anytime and get one. I haven't checked out the walmart video game section in a long time since they are a little more distanced than the Kmart. As someone pointed out here before, many of us on this site have them too, so there are more than 0 out there.

nodeerforamonth 03-21-06 01:55 PM

Yeah, I know. I got a friend in upstate NY who says he can walk into any store and get one too. I'm just bitter I can't get one. (no, I do not want a bundle or order one through the mail).

Phil_Mckrevis 03-21-06 02:19 PM

Heads up. Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha had about 50 Premiums and 50 Cores if you live in the area today.

What the hell is that place? Is it like a huge department store that only had furniture at one time but it has become like a meijer or something?

Phil_Mckrevis 03-21-06 02:36 PM

It's probably the biggest furniture/electronics store in the country(stand alone). It has it's own campus that covers several city blocks and mutiple buildings. It was started in the 30's I believe and it grew out of control. Warren Buffet owns part now. Anyway, it has a 100,000 sq. ft. electronics store that has everything you could ever want. It's just a cool place to go beside Best Buy or Circuit City on Tuesdays.

P.S. They sold 2 giant flat screens last year for $100,000 during the Berkshire Hathaway investor gathering. I think they were 84'' or something close to that.

Oh yea...I saw where over yonder at the Arkansas Pig Slop Supply that they had 25 Premo's on the shelf.
