I find it very difficult to concider the fact that many games are much fresher in my mind than others that I played 15 years ago. I'm sure that I may have enjoyed, say, Mr. Do! more than some of these others, but its just not nearly as fresh in my mind. Impossible for me to factor that in.

1. Zelda OoT - This game really defined the 3d action-adventure game IMO, epic in every way with so much innovation in gameplay such as lock on targeting, with everything from 2d zelda translating so well to 3d.

2. Tetris - I remember seeing the day-dreaming of the pieces falling when I wasn't playing the game, this is just one of the most addictive but simple games ever.

3. Street Fighter 2 - I spent so many hours in the arcade playing this. It is so simple with only a few special moves per player, but again a deep fighting game.

4. Goldeneye - I spent so many hours with this game I wasted half my high school years. Really spawned the party game craze IMO, and really set the standard for FPS. I know the controls will never match the PC, but I believe goldeneye is the reason all FPS games are objective based now.

5. Resident Evil 4 - This game really surprised me, I was expecting just another RE game. Everything stale was removed and replaced with a great action game. Shots tripping villagers when they were running and you shot them in the leg, realistic reactions to bullet hits, just made the game incredibly intense.

6. Warcraft III - Most of you are probably shocked I didn't pick Starcraft or WC2 instead of 3. I never got into starcraft (prefer fantasy over sci-fi) and although I played some WC2 online, it was shaky at best on my modem connection. I spent countless hours with Warcraft III online team competitions, then discovered custom scenarios and spent even more time with the game.

7. Mario 64 - Defined the 3d platformer, things that seem so standard these days were groundbreaking then, such as using the analog stick to walk, crawl, run. It was solid all around with great controls and level design.

8. Baseball Stars - One of the few sports games I spent any time with, it let you build up teams play full seasons, rob home runs and make jumping and diving catches. A great arcade baseball game that was deep as well.

9. Twisted Metal 2 - I love car combat games, and this is the game that started it for me. I like the combo of exploration and combat.

10. Super Off Road - I used to rent this game all the time when I was younger, I really liked this game and Super Sprint, addicting, simple racing games.

9) ESPN NFL 2k5 - XBox/PS2/GC

Probably the best sports game in video game history. So well done it caused EA Sports to panic and buy the NFL rights to football games. And, it was $30 at launch, amazing.

8) Star Wars TIE Fighter - PC

TIE Fighter, the fun of X-Wing, with a great storyline, plus you're the bad guy. Flying around in a shieldless ship was incredibly difficult at times, but well worth it.

7) Halo - XBox

The absolute best multiplayer console game of my college years. Still highly played today years after.

6) Final Fantasy VII - PS

Possibly the best RPG ever. Good storyline, great graphics at the time, and fun to play.

5) Half-Life 2 - PC

Very realistic, came with CS:Source which was a huge bonus. Amazing physics engine, good storyline.

4) Warcraft II - PC

This game was amazing online, extremely fun to play, and had a massive cult following.

3) Goldeneye 007 - N64

The console first person shooter that made console FPSes a real competitor. Endless nights of multiplayer fun and a damn good singleplayer too. This one was amazing.

2) The Legend Of Zelda - Ocarina of Time - N64

Possibly the only overhyped game that exceeded the hype. This game was damn near perfect.

1) Super Mario 3 - NES

Clearly the best video game of all time. Still playable and fun today, extremely well done.

BTW, I played some of that freeware Star Control II last night. It made me feel tingly...the good kind of tingly...not like when your foot falls asleep. I wish I had room for it on my list. Now I look at some of the #1s on everyone elses lists...I think most of the #1s here would have caused a greater commotion everywhere else.

I can't imagine why anyone would vote for Halo over Halo 2, especially considering that Halo 2 is the best online console game of all time.
