basically you are creating a guide for you to follow on your Nintendo DS. Kinda like Paint By Numbers or something.

There's no way to do it automatically, if that's what you mean. You use that image as a pattern to enter the decal in like one you freehanded. I don't know the exact menus to go to, but it should be under the options somewhere.

Whenever you first get online to play, you first try and start a Friends game for at least 2-3 minutes. If you don't get any connections, just go and play a game with random opponents like usual, but keep an eye out for a response Friends icon.

If you're playing online and you see the Friends icon appear, finish your game (don't drop out) then start a friends search to signal the other player you're ready. Then he'll finish his game and start a Friends game to join you.

Sound good to everybody?

I was actually thinking about something like this the other day. But instead of guessing how about we all plan to be on and meet on a recurring day, like say Thursdays at 9:30PM EST? Anyone else good for this day?

huh? 12-01-05 06:52 PM

i'm online now if anyone wants to race

sorry I was actually going to log on thursday because I lost track of time when I was playing Dragon Quest VIII.

I'm not sure if I set it up right. Next to all of you after I set up the friend code it still says after I log on something about "if I still see this screen after registering and connecting to Nintendo WFC to check the code for accuracy."

Is this normal? Did I do it right, because I'm pretty sure it is unless there's something I missed.

I'm not sure exactly what it means, but I have the same thing on most of the people in my list. I'm pretty sure it'll go away when you connect to the person for the first time, but it might be something else that verifies it, too.

Outlaw 12-03-05 09:51 PM

ok so I have to play a game with that person first, that makes sense I guess. I'm actually on right now trying to get it to work. Get on! :)

Outlaw 12-03-05 10:52 PM

That was a really intense last race, good game sdcrym. I still have a ways to go before I get as good at this game as I did the the previous mario karts :), I didn't know about those short cuts on desert hill going over the big hills. I had to stop at the end because it was getting late, but we can't leave it at a tie, we'll have to do a rematch some other time. It'd be fun to get a group of four of us on there. Nice avatar too, how did you do that?

sdcrym 12-03-05 11:06 PM

Yeah, definitely some close ones there at the end. About the shortcut, it's all about getting lucky with the mushrooms, kind of like you in the last race ;)

I used the decal maker that goLUCKY posted on the first page. It's a little tedious copying the pattern over to the DS, but I like the result.

Here's the link: http://www.zsivanys.nl/mkdecal/

tanman 01-02-06 03:14 AM

So how are people meeting online? I've inputted everyone's code from the other thread but want to know when people will be on.

goLUCKY 01-02-06 09:11 AM

Just let me know when you want to meet, I'd love to beat ...errr play other DVdtalkers. ;)

Brewc 01-02-06 10:36 AM

Anyone know a site that lists the unlockable's?

CreatureX 01-02-06 04:15 PM

So how do you guys feel about the "snaking" technique? I hate it. :thmbsdwn:

If anyone wants to have some non-snaking races, add me to your friends list.

Let me know you added me and I will add you to mine. Thanks. :)

So you mean "snaking" on straight aways only? or do you consider multiple slide-turbo's on one turn "snaking" as well?
note: I usually don't do it unless someone else does it first.

Brent L 01-02-06 05:52 PM

Thoughts on the snaking method? Well, I hate it also. I am not convinced that snaking was ever meant to actually be used like people online use it now. To me, it is simply taking advantage of a move that is in the game and using it in a way that it wasn't meant to be. I think if it much like I think of Smackdown vs. RAW online, when people ONLY use the unblockable moves over and over again.

Besides, if it was meant to be used, don't you think that the CPU would do it every now and then in races? Heck, I haven't even seen any of the ghosts use the move. I've seen the slide turbo boost be used, but never snaking up a straight piece of track.

Now, with all of that said, there will be times where morons online will use it againt you. Before I knew what it was, I was very confused since a snaker who does it the entire race can easily lap someone who doesn't use that move. I got the the point where I would turn my DS off when I saw someone using it, but then I decided to look into it and try to learn how to do it myself, and I found this:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...layable%3Atrue

I'm not expert at it, but now when I see someone else doing it, I'm not afraid to do it a little bit just to at least give myself a fighting chance in a race. I do it ONLY when I see someone else doing it, period. I still do not believe that it's meant to be done at all.

I can't imagine how the hands of the guys who do the snaking all the time in every race must feel.

Anyone else having a problem with morons just giving up? I've had people do that to me a lot, and I'm not even that great (19-23 now). I've also noticed that when you start a four person race, as you go through the tracks, the 4th and 3rd place guys almost always, if not always, drop out before it's all over with.

Just about the only times that I haven't had it happen is when it comes down to the very final race, and even then I've had some people give up right before I crossed the finish line, just to be an ass.

tanman 01-03-06 01:59 AM

I am game for racing. I get on at random times. Usually later in the evening or so. But even though I put everyones codes in I have yet to meet up with anybody via the friends option.

Josh H 01-07-06 07:19 PM

I have the game, and my code is in the other thread. Hope to bump into you guys online (added everyone in the other thread).

No snaking here. Luckily I haven't ran into anyone doing it yet, but I've only played online 3 times.

KenKeith 01-08-06 11:14 AM

mine is 545522 741035

Josh H 01-11-06 01:19 PM

Finished up through 100c in both set of tracks. Not looking forward to 150cc. :(

I hate that fucking blue shell. I can't tell you how many times I've been in 1st, in sight of the finish line, and some computer AI bastard in 7th or 8th place launches that and crashes me 10 feet short of the line and I finish in 3rd or 4th place as others rush past me. They really need to either make that blockable by a shell or banana just like the red shells, or make it so no one gets that item on the final lap.

Is anyone here still playing online? I added everyone to my friends list that listed in the code thread a few days ago, but haven't found anyone online yet.

Josh H 01-12-06 11:16 PM

I don't think the Rivals matching works very well. My record is 0-3 and it just matched me up against some one who was 312-102.

Needless to say the person was a snaker and disconnected after the second race because he was lapping me. :D

That's the problem with online gaming, if you don't buy at launch and play online from the start, it's tough to find beginners to play against.

Stayed up until 3:30 last night and finished 150cc and mirror 150cc. That wasn't too bad at all.

No where near as bad as the Double Dash on the GCN, I never (and never will) get through 150cc on that game, the comptuer is too damn cheap.

Do you unlock anything worthwhile in the mission mode? It's not a whole lot of fun, and it seems like beating mirror mode unlocked the last racer and all the carts for everyone so I don't see what could be left.

The Dude 01-20-06 08:47 PM

Anyone up for some Mario Kart online?
