26'' toshiba hdtv for me. All I could fit in my room and I don't want to risk burn in on my 50'' Toshiba CRT RPTV.

I was going to use it on a 42" plasma but I have been rethinking that and it is down to either a 42"-50" Samsung DLP or a 42"+ inch sony 3lcd tv but I am not sure yet. I am doing some preliminary shopping today for my TV. I am also considering the Sony 34" 16:9 tube TV since it is only 1199 at circuit city.

Anyone know which would be best out of these 3 for gaming:

Samsung DLP (HL-R4266w)

Sony 3LCD 42" (dont know model number yet)

Sony 34" WS tube TV (KV-34HS420)

I havent shopped for TVs in over a year but when I went into the store last weekend to shop for a friend the Sonys really blew the others away. The LCOS (SXRD) were amazing but might be too expensive right now but the 3LCDs were so nice. everything else in the whole TV department looked a step below these.

12ft diagonal screen using a High Definition CRT projector. By then I'm hoping to be projecting on a new high gain silver Torus screen (vertically and horrizontally curved). It will be even more stunning once I add that.

You should've made separate catagories for 4:3 tubes, HD and SD. I currently have a 4:3 Sony WEGA HD 32" CRT. I plan on upgrading it sometime next year to a 50" Panasonic Plasma.

whenever i get it (which may not be for a while) I'll be playing on my 42" 16:9 HD CRT rear projection set. My brother has a 55" 4:3 non HD set and he's trying to get one for launch (or close to launch) so it'll be interesting to see how much better it looks on mine.

Sorry if this is threadcrapping, but how much will you lose by playing the 360 on a non-HD set? Obviously, the picture won't be as stunning, but I've been wondering if it's worth getting a 360 to play on my non-HDTV (it's a 27" Sony Wega from 5 years ago). In other words, will the step up from an Xbox to a 360 still be dazzling even though the HD graphics will go unused on my TV?

In my opinion HD gaming is 60% of the value of the xbox360. Unless theres a game you really like and dont care how it looks (an oxymoron?) it wont be really worth it. For non HD people theres always LIVE and the multiplayer experience but thats secondary IMHO.

The graphics are still going to be way better on a non-HD set. They will just be that much better on a HD set.

Yeah, the 360 has much more power and graphic capability.

I forgot to include projectors.

Probably won't be getting a 360, but all my next gen gaming will be done on my 27" Sony Wega. Unless it breaks I guess. No money in the budget for a new TV.

Yeah I had to pick DLP as it is a DLP Projector on 110'' screen. Xbox looks great on it so I can't wait for the 360!
