Yeah, for the longest time I was wondering if that was the hard in the hard version. There's like an item equivalent to almost every spell in the game. It's better to just sell stuff, I kept putting stuff in Fat Chocobo but he has a limit too.. I was planning to see how much crap I could get in the game but it looks like that's not really an option.

Okay, as long as I'm not going crazy. I have about 15 Mythril Shields from leveling underground. Gotta sell those soon.

Are both of these "cheats" still in the game?
1) Duplicating items during battle
- This is a handy way to make extra cash early on, or get multiples of swords and knives to use or throw. You can do it by unequipping an object in your hands (sword, knife, shield, etc.) and immediately running away from battle. When you equip the item again, it'll double in quantity---just re-equip it one more time and you'll "separate" them into two regular items. Crystal swords, Masamunes...it's all fair game.
2) "Level Up" cheat on Mt. Ordeals
- This is done by killing off your entire party (except Cecil) after he first becomes a Paladin. Since he starts at level 1, he gains levels very quickly and is much more powerful than the undead enemies there. If you build him up to, say, level 40---which should actually only take a few hours---all of the other party members will start at equally high levels when they return later (except Edge, for some reason). It makes the second half of the game much easier, plus you can wipe out most bosses in two or three rounds.

I now know what you mean about it getting harder. I was wiping out bosses no problem, now I'm getting my ass handed to me. I just went to the moon and the creatures there are messing me up. Time to do a few hours of leveling again before moving forward.

2) Yes, though that's not really a cheat per se.. it's just that returning party members come back near your current experience level. The reason this doesn't happen for Edge is because he's the only character you get after becoming a Paladin that is new, hence he has a default starting level (25).

I was looking at a site for Gameboy music trying to find something for Kingdom Hearts and I saw something that could explain some of the jerkiness in the game: the sound mixer in the game takes up 25-40% of the CPU! But, after further checking I found out that may just be part of the sloppiness since there are games that are much faster and action based with sound code that uses 40% of the CPU as well and are smooth as ice (F-Zero Legend, for example). Still an interesting tidbit. Some game called Zone of Enders sound engine uses 50-70% CPU!

Crap. I just remembered that I forgot to go to the Summons Cave underground. Headed back there now. That's going to be tough without Kain.

Once I get the drill on the airship, how can I pick up the hovercraft? I have the tail, but it won't let me pick it up now that The drill is installed...
Edit: Nevermind, I'm an idiot...forgot it's a different airship.

Hey...two questions.
-Is there something I have to do to trigger my Excalibur sword being ready from the smith in the underworld? I can't remember. I've done a few things, but he keeps saying it's not done.
-Where in the game to I get the ability to switch party memebers?

I haven't done the Excalibur quest yet but I'd check back after another major event or two.. check after you are able to go to the moon, once you get FuSoYa or after you destroy the Giant of Babel. I don't think it's just a time thing, you have to be at a certain point in the "story." You get access to the rest of the characters (sans Tellah) after you destroy the Giant of Babel. This also opens up the first bonus dungeon on Mt. Ordeals where I'm at now and you'll find new armor and weapons for the older characters.

I heard the way to obtain the Pink Tail is somewhat different in this version. God its been a looooong time since I played it but in the original SNES FF2 game you had to be in a room in the Lunar Subterranean(the last area of the game) on floor 5 and there was like a 1/64 chance you could come across a group of mobs called the "Pink Puffs" and a 1/64 chance you'd actually get the tail. In this version I heard there's some item you can obtain that actually summons the Pink Puffs to fight you? So it's not as difficult to obtain?

Well I fought my first new monster on my last break in the Mt. Ordeals bonus dungeon, saw him three times.. all three times he attempted to turn all my people toad, hit a couple for 3000 damages and ran off.. it was Golden Toad. I have a feeling something good happens if you kill it.

I was debating if I should spend the time to get the pink tail this time around. I can't remember if the armor is really worth it or not.

Yah the stats on the Adamant armor are ridiculous. I can't remember all the gear I had equipped to Cecil but with the Glass helm and the Adamant armor no one touched him. It took me about 2 weeks of my summer back in 1992 to get that damn pink tail. I'll never forget when I obtained it, I went with my Girlfriend(now wife) to this place we had up in the mountains for our Anniversary. Well, I packed along my SNES and played FF2 while she was sleeping and got the pink tail. It's amazing, didn't think you could get so excited over getting something in a video game. I look back on that now and laugh but those were good times.
