Hey guys, I'm a 30 Druids named Wowous on Magtheridon. The game is pretty fun so far, but it is VERY time consuming, a lot of traveling time and little sidequests and such. But I'm having a good time, especially now that I don't have any work to do.

DaveNinja 12-20-05 05:08 PM

I spend as much time as i can one it, but often thats only like 5 hours a week. Ive been playing for almost a year and there is still a lot i havent seen.

Michael Ballack 12-20-05 06:39 PM

Jesus Christ, no wonder they give you a 10 day trial. You spend 8 of those days downloading and installing. I'm almost done though, so I'll try it out tonight.

DaveNinja 12-21-05 11:43 AM

i dont think the 10 days actually start til you create a character, do they?

It should start as soon as you create the account.

The volume of patches after installing the client is typical for MMORPGs. These will contain bug fixes, additional content, events, etc.

Michael Ballack 12-21-05 12:51 PM

I made it to level 6 last night. Very fun and addicting. I accidently wandered around to an area that was a little too hard for me. Took me 3 deaths to get out of there. Damn spiders. Good times.

For the Horde song, all my Tauren, Orcs, Trolls and Undead throw your hands up!

Ok so after multiple rerolls I finally have a NE Druid level 47 on Cenarius named Allesara. Of course now I am the highest I have ever been and can't decide where to quest. Any suggestions? I just completed ZF, but I still have one or two quests in the area,

Fandango 12-23-05 12:00 PM

Hinterlands is good and then Un'Goro Crater after that.

What race did you choose ? I am playing a warrior, and just made it to level 5. I think the game is fun, despite the boringness of the first tasks.

Hinterlands, Tanaris, Feralas, Searing Gorge

I am a female human mage. Made it up to level 16 on Christmas Eve. Didn't play on Christmas day. I'm at a point where it's too hard to do some of the quests by myself now. I have to start teaming up with people.

DrunkLastKnight 12-25-05 11:23 PM

Only quests i team up for are Elite quests, most of the time I do quests on my own

DaveNinja 12-28-05 10:12 AM

hit gnomeregan last night was a group of a 33 priest (me), 26 priest (my wife) and a 22 paladin (guildmate's alt). We actually were able to take down techbot and make it all the way to the gnome exile city. pretty tough at some points but we never wiped. vampiric embrace helped a lot with 2 priests doing shadow damage.

I've got a question...
I have some armor that says +16 to arcane spells. And when I wear it, I can see my spells hitting for +16 extra arcane damage.

Then I found some armor (I think it's mageweave gloves) that says "Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 11." But when I wear that, I don't see any additional damage from any of my spells. So I'm wondering, does this armor only effect spells cast on me (like the amplify magic spell) and NOT spells I cast onto other people (like my +arcane spells boots?)

neiname 12-28-05 10:51 AM

After about 20 days of gameplay I am done with this game. It was fun while it lasted but the endgame just is not as enticing as the buildup. Spending 5-6 hours to clear 3 or 4 bosses in blackwing lair to buildup DKP for equipment that is slightly better than what I had wasn't fun anymore. I did almost everything I wanted in the game (cleared Molten Core numerous times, up to Chromagnus in BWL and getting the Epic priest staff). I may revisit the game when the expansion comes out.

The "damage/healing by magic spells and effects by up to" stuff is exactly what it says. I believe it is the 3 second cast spells that take the full effect. The shorter cast spells take take some of the damage. The damage over time spells take the damage over the full duration of the dot, not per tick.

DaveNinja 12-28-05 03:36 PM

Yeah, the "+12 arcane damage" gear should be the same as the "up to 12 damage from spells" equipment. They talked about it a bunch on the warcraft forums. When my mage was fire specced i had over +200 fire damage from my gear. nice til i hit the level 60 instances and didnt want to do too much DPS and draw aggro.

I couldn't imagine giving up a priest with epic staff, and probably other epics (I'm assuming.) I had the opposite problem when I got to endgame with my rogue, there were too many damn rogues around so it was hard to get a group. My guild only consists of about 6 people, all of who are real life friends. So, I rerolled as a priest and am at 36. I think I actually enjoy the priest more than my rogue, and it's nice having 60's as friends this time around. I'm pretty excite for my priest to get to endgame, but it's still a long time coming.

In order to level as quickly as possible I would recommend becoming full shadow till lvl 40 (to get shadow form) and then throw some points into disc (to get the shield talent). That would be the quickest way to get from lvl 40 to lvl 60. I grinded in W. Plaguelands from lvl 50 to lvl 60 averaging around 30k exp an hour. Spirit tap is a must to grind though.

With a small guild it will be virtually impossible to get the Epic priest staff as it requires a drop from Major Domo (2nd to last boss in MC) to complete. I do not know of any pickup groups that have been assembled to even attempt a 40 man raid. I was fortunate to join the top guild on the server which allowed me to experience most of the endgame content.

I just rolled a priest last night... can you give some more insight on which of the early level shadow talents I should focus on?

I would recommend rolling dwarf for alliance and undead if horde. Here is a decent order:

1 Spirit Tap
2 Spirit Tap
3 Spirit Tap
4 Spirit Tap
5 Spirit Tap
6 Improved Shadow Word Pain
7 Improved Shadow Word Pain
8 Blackout
9 Blackout
10 Blackout
11 Mind Flay
12 Improved Mind Blast
13 Improved Mind Blast
14 Improved Mind Blast
15 Improved Mind Blast
16 Improved Mind Blast

This should be a good start. When attacking mobs I Mind Blast, SW:P, then Mind Flay.

Thanks! I already got my troll priest to level 9 (thought the faster mana regen would be helpful, and didn't want an undead again, since I already have an undead mage). Then I read about the cool spells the undead priests get. :( oh well.

So far, it's been incredibly easy. I bought a nice wand at the AH (something like 11 dps) and all I do is turn on power word: sheild, and then press the wand button. Most enemies are dead before they even get through my shield. I take it that strategy isn't going to work much longer?

DaveNinja 12-30-05 11:25 AM

Shadow priest question: I have a 33 dwarf shadow specced priest. i've been helping level up my wife's 28 priest. Its pretty easy with vampiric embrace (VE) since we do tons of shadow damage. but i was wondering if shadow damage from a wand gives you health back when VE is on a mob? Also can two priests both cast VE on a mob and get back twice the health?
