Capcom Classics on Sept. 27

Sorry if it's too early to post a thread on this, but I just wondered if anyone else was excited about this one. I used to spend countless hours playing Ghosts & Goblins and Commando on my Commodore 64, so I'm really looking forward to this. I believe it has 22 games for $19.99. I've been disappointed by the other nostalgia compilations out there, but I think this one might be good.

This one sounds excellent. The Namco one was okay, but for a 50th anniversary game they put no fanfare or extra content in to it and that was a major downside.

I had a couple of the Japanese Saturn releases of the Capcom classics so getting all of these together will be very cool.

edit: Just noted there is no GameCube version being released so I guess I have a long wait to play this one depending on whether I get an Xbox360 or not.

All but one are arcade ports. Looks like all the Capcom Collection discs put into one with maybe an extra game of three.

It'll be nice to have a solid port of Street Fighter II for a home console. The best I have is SSFIIX for Dreamcast. The SF collection version was god-aweful. Many missing frames of animation, unbalanced gameplay, horrible audio.

I wonder if Bionic Commando is going to be uncensored.

From memory the c64 version of commando is quite different when compared to the arcade version and I remember not liking the arcade version as much.

Nice, I been getting it.

Shame that Alien v.s. Predator and Strider aren't on the list maybe the next wave.

Great lineup there. Forgotten Worlds is way underappreciated.

Finally, the chance to play Final Fight uncensored. I will be getting this for sure.

You're probably right, but I'll take what I can get. Even just looking at those screenshots brought back the memories - especially of Ghosts and Goblins. That one looked pretty similar to what I remember on the C64. It's been about 20 years, so it'll be quite a nostalgia trip.

Capcom Classics Collection is Kickass... . Also, Sonic Gems Collection (Only on GC) and Namco Museum 50th Anniversary Arcade Collection (I stick with GC version instead PS2 version cuz it had Ugly Greatest Bar).

MEGA MAN X COLLECTION (Coming soon in November) ** Must have **

My highlights:

9. Super Ghouls’ N Ghosts
15. Mercs
19. Forgotten Worlds
22. Final Fight

I'm sure there's at least a couple of other titles in there that will get some solid playtime. I really hope that these will all be arcade perfect.

Ya, not including Strider and the original Street Fighter is a bit puzzling. Otherwise, an awesome collection. My only problem is that I own most of the titles I like on the NES and Genesis. I feel like some of them (particularly Bionic Commando) are even better on the consoles. Still, this looks like one of the best compilations out there.

Thanks for the heads up about this release. I wasn't aware of it but I'll definitely be getting it. I remember fondly playing all of the above games especially Gun.Smoke. I must have played that game for hours on my NES.

Practically the exact same games as the last disc.. minus the best part of the last disc.. the arrangement games. The new Namco Museums are fucking insults to Namco's arcade history. Comparing the PS1 5 disc set to the new ones (either of them) is an excellent way to compare what's important to an American gaming company versus a Japanese one.

Granted if you just want the two or three most popular games, the new discs should work for you.

That's crap that this isn't coming out for a Nintendo console. Half of the titles are NES games. I'd even buy this for PSP but it looks like Capcom ain't gettin' shit from me-they'd probably make it to 39.99 for PSP anyway just like Namco did with their collection.
