$12,750 divided by 50 = $255 per unit

Something doesn't seem quite right here. WalMart would love a $149.99 profit per xBox 360.

Yeah really that's only $262 per system after shipping, if that were legit you could easily get $700-800 per system making you a profit of $22,000-27,000 yeah if I were a wholesale guy I'd be giving them away like that

Does anyone know if MS sells an extended warranty for the 360? I'm getting mine from GameRush and I know they don't offer one. I thought people bought one for the PSP at CompUSA last year (even if they didn't buy it there)

I'll see what is happening at my GR this week when I pick up HL2 and hopefully my 360 launch games.

From the early review:
DVD Playback

The DVD playback is progressive scan and limited to 480p It won't output in 720p or 1080i. It's better than the Xbox DVD player's quality and is a perfectly fine solution for the average person. I still prefer my HTPC and scaling to 720p though.
I knew it wasn't going to happen. Someone posted earlier that it was confirmed to be an upconverting DVD player, I said MS would have been advertising that all over the place, and they weren't.

Oh well, I'm just happy they are enhancing existing Xbox games, that was something I thought was less likely.

Ehhh!
I hope I'm able to swap out Madden on that Best Buy bundle. I saw the long running HiDef video last night and was less than impressed. The graphics were ok but during gameplay, it looked like NFL Fever 2003 to me.

I went to my local gamestop last night. They told me that every store (at least in MA) is only getting 16 systems for the 22nd. Looks like I'll be camping outside Walmart since I'm about 60 on the list.

The Best Buy bundle was 4 (I think) bundles offered to RZ members.
Mine included the Premium system, an extra wireless controller, and Madden360.

There were 2 core bundles and 2 premium bundles. The other stuff included another game (I think PGR3) and a charge and play kit.

I was that "someone", and I was referencing what Microsoft themselves had said. Their More than Games page originally said "Xbox 360 is the perfect centerpiece for your hi-tech living room. Watch your DVD movies in glorious 720p from the get go." Now...? "Watch your DVD movies in glorious 480p from the get go."

I was surprised that they were offering upconversion over component since that's expressly forbidden by the DVD Forum, which, I'd imagine, is why that functionality was yanked.

I thought games were being release today... some places are saying the 17th, others are saying the 15th. I was going to go to BB on lunch & pick a couple up, but don't want to waste the trip if they aren't released yet.. anyone know when the games are being released?

I'm surprised Kameo only got an 8 for graphics, since my impression from reading "early looks" was that it was one of best looking launch game graphics-wise. He even admits he's holding back, simply because it's one of the first games, so he feels he can't give it a higher score if later games are gonna look much better. Kind of like being the first gymnast to perform at the Olympics.

As far as Madden goes, it's more than a little disappointing that challenges aren't included, but I rarely bother with that mini-camp fluff and all that, so I refuse to downgrade it for that.

That's a pretty crazy 8.0 review. Basically, it's a great game, but they took out the mini-camp and challenges. I don't know, sounds good to me. I would rather the refs make the right calls the first time anyway, and I haven't played mini-camp in a few years.

The whole point of the challenge is for when refs miss a call, or make an incorrect one. In gaming, the challenge shouldn't be necessary to begin with. It's a computer game: the refs should make the right call, period. It may be a little fun, but I won't miss the feature at all...

Yep, in games, the developers have to program wrong calls on purpose in order to have the challenge system work. It better be there next year, but I can live without it this go around. It makes multi-player games more dramatic sometimes.

I wish there were refs on the field or on the sidelines during gameplay though.
