Nintendo Power Redesigned: 3 Free Issues (plus Zelda DVD trailer?)

Just got this in my email.

Nintendo Power
> New Look.
> New Features.
> New Attitude.
> New My Nintendo Member Benefit.

You're enjoying the many benefits of being a My
Nintendo Member, and now we've added one more:
three free issues of the new Nintendo Power, the
must-read mag for Nintendo enthusiasts. Since
you've registered at least three Nintendo products
in your account, you automatically qualify for a
three-month FREE subscription.

After the trial period, you can nab a year's
subscription of the best information on Nintendo
for only $12. That's $1 an issue! You can't beat
that.
The first new issue is supposed to come with a DVD with a Zelda trailer.

I tried it. Free DVD is worth it even if you don't like the magazine.

Do you need to sign up with a CC or will they try to bill you after the trial period?

I just clicked the link and it said it was done. It didn't ask for a credit card. I'm assuming they will ask you later to extend it.

This offer, exclusive to My Nintendo members, requires that you register or have registered three Nintendo products and have a verified email address. After your three-month trial is over, you'll be able to nab 12 issues for $12 [$15 Cdn.]. That's an 80% savings over newsstand cost!

Signed up. Wish it was the Zelda trailer on the promo E3 DS cart though. What do I get for having 32 products registered?

Signed up as well, got the link & confirmation via email. Email stated the first issue I'd get was July 2005 - I think that's the one with the Zelda DVD, but I'm not sure.

You have 32 products registered? Aren't only first party games registerable (new word)?

I guess I might have more and I just didn't register them.

Did you get the free Zelda compilation disc from awhile back? That was their best giveaway.

Has that been the ONLY giveaway, other than the 3 free issues of Nintendo Power?

No, I believe there was also another Zelda bonus disc with Ocarina of Time and the Master Quest, as well as a Metroid Prime 2 demo disc. There might be another, but I can't remember.

Thanks OP.

I jumped on the bandwagon for this one. I let my subscription laps about a year ago, after the Zelda Promo. This should be fun to get... and the $12 for a year ain't that bad.

These were through nintendo.com? I thought the OoT/MQ disc was a preorder game-retailer exclusive, and the MP2 demo came packaged with MP and select Gamecubes...? I was just asking which giveaways nintendo.com has done.

The Oot/MQ disc was a retailer exclusive. However, there was another Zelda Bonus disc that had the two NES games, OoT (no MQ) and Majora's Mask. That was was given away with certain GameCubes and through the Nintendo.com site. The MP2 demo was also given away at the Nintendo.com site.

Nintendo also gave out a free mannequin hand, but you didn't need to register any games for that.

I'll also mention I got a free Pikmin plush from them for some silly online Pikmin 2 treasure hunt promotion they had when the game was released. That one took some work though.

I just wish they would do the Mario Club thing they have in Japan in the US. You can get some really cool stuff in Japan for registering games.

It's a crock of shit that Nintendo doesn't start a Club Nintendo is the US. Granted Nintendo does give away some decent stuff (they also have exclusive wallpaper/screensavers for those that register games) but that doesn't mean crap when Japan get's exclusive controllers, limited edition packages and other collectible trinkets. They can shove those three free GCN discs up Reggie's ass, give the US a Club Nintendo. All these promotions state if you have three games registered you're entitled to whatever. As I said in a previous post, I've got 32 items registered (3 are systems so 29 games) and that is all since they started offering these codes. I'd have over 50 if Nintendo started with the GCN launch (Satan knows how many I'd have if Nintendo started this back in the NES days). I just feel more deserving of product than say the EB/Gamestop managers who get free clothes, games and cool doodads (Nintendo DS pen/stylus). Nintendo needs to take care of their fans before the X-box loving managers of game stores...IMO.

Well I recieved my new, re-designed issue of NP today and after reading through it I have to say, nice job Nintendo! It actually looks and reads like a *real* video game magazine.

One of my biggest issues with NP was how games were reviewed and the lack of information given. Reviews of games are no longer a short paragraph describing the game and one line reviews from their staff and are now a decent write-up with a score given based on a 1-10 scale(Gone is the Mario Star rating system). There's also a second opinion review on some of the games kinda like what Game Informer does.

There's a nice 8-10 page preview on the upcoming Zelda game as well as a preview for Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance for the Cube.

I have to say I like it as well. I have actually been a subscriber for quite a long time. In the past they used to give pretty good things with their subscriptions. I remember they always used to give a strategy guide as well as bonus coupons worth a couple dollars in their nintendo power store. I wish they would bring that back. I also remember they used to give coupons for $10 off games although that might have only been a few times. I agree they need to give more to their loyal fans.

Darkside, I missed out on the pikmin thing. I was doing the online promo and went to the forums only to discover that all of them were given away. I wish that I had gotten one as I really love Pikmin.

I have it on my PC desk at home next to R.O.B. the robot. Very nice promo, but it is something you could buy in Japan.

I thought Nintendo Power was still giving away Guides, Tshirts, etc. However, with them dropping the year subscription to $12 that may stop. I remember the coupons, but it has been awhile since they have done that.

I registered my gamecube, SP, and Paper Mario to receive the 3 issues of Nintendo power. My question is, what games come with the game codes? Or am I looking in the wrong place. I checked out the following games, Paper Mario, Eternal Darkness, Baten Kaitos, RE4, ToS, Metroid Prime, and LoZ:WW. The only game that had this code was Paper Mario. Are the codes randomly placed in games or do they only come in certain games?

1st Party Nintendo Games that have come out since they started doing the giveaways (I think Wind Waker was before).
