I played a 2 moth free trial of the Japanese Blue Burst months ago. Much like the Xbox version, it's the same fucking game with the same fucking graphics and they now want you to pay $10 a month for it. It just doesn't have the magic it did when it came out for Dreamcast and the "new" stuff isn't all that new.

Well, give it a try! That's just my opinion; I know a girl who used to play with me on the Dreamcast and I got her in with me on the Japanese Blue Burst PC and the magic was there for her again, she's still playing it. So don't take my word as gospel. But, if you jumped on the Cube or Xbox (which I think you did) and that magic wasn't there then.. don't count on it now.

For me, that will be when they start making them standard RPG's and not the on-line version. Oh how I miss PS3 (I think I'm one of the only people who feels that was the best in the series). Good thing I have PS Collection for my GBA.

yeah i played the xbox version and it was fun for about 2 days. been sitting on the shelf ever since.
since pso:bb is free for now, I'll give it ago. I just won't get my hopes up about it.
did anyone play the battle card PSO, I heard that it was different but was decent. Never got around to it.
The PSO collection for the GBA was the reason I got a GBA in the 1st place. Sweet, sweet memories.

I still like PS2 better than PS3... but where's my PS4 remake? I didn't get to buy that one for the Genesis because it was ridiculously expensive (because of whatever extra memory they had to put in the cart itself. And I never got to play PSO, either, though I am looking forward to seeing if PSU can recapture the magic...

Quick question: the latest PSO was based on some kind of card system, right? Did they go away from that for this release?

Well you should check out your local gamecrazy, I recently picked up PS II, III, and IV for $15 total for the genesis. I'll get to playing them eventually. As for PSU, EGM has a nice article on the new game coming out hopefully at then end of this year. A single player offline mode that plays more like the classic Phantasy stars, while the online mode is separate, with server side saving and a separate character from the offline mode play. Only to be released for the PS2 and PC so far.

Yeah, I read the EGM article about the upcoming PSU. Looks interesting, but I still have my doubts about how good the single player is going to be... and it's also coming at the end of the system's life cycle.

It also will not use the HDD, so I wonder how they're going to patch the game/release updates...
