as usual, the manual sucks and leaves alot out.
How do you know how many sunspear points you have?
I have a quest that requires me to make seargent.
also where are the class trainers? I have a quest to pick up a 2nd profession and need to talk to at least 1 trainer, but i cannot find them. the quest says to look for them in chabek village, but i cannot find any of them? been wandering around very frustrated!

Btw, it can be quite helpful to hold down either the ALT or CTRL key when moving through the game (particularly towns) as this shows the names of NPCs, other players, or monsters, even if they're not visible.

How hard is this game to get into? Is it newbie friendly? I've always wanted to try out a MMORPG, but didn't want to cough up a monthly fee. I had this in my hands yesterday, but put it back and figured I read up some, so seeing this thread get bumped up was nice!
Are there plenty of things to do alone? Or is it mostly group based outings?

The latest GW is totally solo friendly. Previously you could solo, but it was a little harder. You could add 7 bots to your party of 8, but they were fixed in classes and equipment, and pretty dumb.
In the latest GW, you can have up to 3 heroes in your party. These heroes are attached to your account and level up with you. You can also equip them with your own gear which is persisted permanently, and you can setup their skills however you want. It's almost like a traditional multi character rpg. You can even position them and trigger off individual skills, but generally this is rare, as keeping up with your own skills is enough work during the real time battles.
People sometimes call GW MMORPG-lite because it's entirely instances for party and pvp, and even the towns are instanced across 100 players or so. As for newbie friendly, I would say it's certainly friendlier than EQ and the like. Not sure about WOW. But one important feature is that your skill bar is always fixed to 8 skills. This limitation is nice as you can really focus on strategising those 8 skills, rather than necessarily having a huge arsenal at your fingertips during battle.
With the cost, well you can buy it for the cost of 2 months of WOW subscription. Apart from that, if you want to give your account to a friend later, you only need to give them the login, since the GW client can be downloaded.
I'm only early on in Nightfall so far, but I am noticing there is less player grouping so far, compared to prophecies. I suspect this is due to the new Heroes which do tend to be smarter than the average player (a sad reality). Kind of disappointing for the social player, but great if you do just want to go through the game on your own.

another question - how do you drop/destroy an item in your inventory?
I tried dragging it to the ground, but this doesn't work.

There are some special starter items (weapon and armour) that you can't drop. To get rid of this you need to use the trash can which sits in the corner of your inventory screen. It will ask you if you're sure you want to delete it.

It's a really hard question. I remember the first GW gave you special quests to try out different 2nd profession skills. The thing to remember is that there's no wrong answer, and that a lot of people play through the game only using their primary profession. Also there should be an opportunity later in the game to change your 2nd profession if you want (there was in the first GW).
I picked monk as the 2nd profession for my dervish, but I haven't touched any of the monk skills yet. Having 2 monk heroes available does reduce the need.
To answer, I'd say monk or mesmer. Warrior is interesting, but you have to be an earth elementalist, and then engage in close combat, using all the buffs you have access to from the earth skills. Ranger, if you want to have a pet running around after you (but you probably wouldn't use much else). Necro is probably not much use.

Re: Guild Wars anyone else getting this?
Guild Wars turns 4 this month and just passed 6 million units sold! As celebration, they are offering some new content, free storage space, and more.
I don't know if anyone around here still plays this, but between now and May 31st you can get a FREE 20 item pane for your storage chest (additional panels can be had for $9.99 each). Also my favorite part is a new pet sanctuary - now rangers don't have to loose their beloved level 20 common pet forever in order to get a prestige pet like the Black Moa or the Rainbow Phoenix. Now they just turn it into the sanctuary and it unlocks that pet and they can request another one of the same level (or less if they want to evolve one on their own) at any time.
I was very late to the party on this one. I just got the Trilogy + Eye of the North a couple months ago, but I've put many hours into this (finished the main campaign and am almost done with Eye) and I'm still going strong.

Yeah I know their old posts, but the thread was bumped, so I thought new people might be reading....
Yes you can. And you can have the duplicate heroes in the party, but the second hero in the party list will have a default name like Sunspear Warrior. Teaming up with at least one more person in most areas is still a good thing, because then you can bring a party of 2 people and 6 heroes, allowing you to team build more effectively.
You have a trash can in your inventory to the right of your inventory bag icons. Generally though, if you don't want the item, you should sell it to a merchant if you can instead of destroying it. But I assume the question was about one of the items in the game that can't be sold to a merchant.
Monk is popular for the hard rez and condition removal, but eles often stay within their own profession as they have a lot of damage and utility already. Regardless, you get to a point in the game where you can change your secondary at will, so go with whatever sounds like fun.
I've been playing since just after Factions was released, so I'm coming up on three years (hoping for a bunny mini-pet!) Don't think there are many players here, though it's hard to tell, even the WOW thread doesn't get that much activity here. I spend more time at guru and incgamers now than DVDTalk.
I'm really looking forward to trying out some of the new content and will be buying a few extra storage tabs for each of my 2 accounts.
What I love the most, so far, is all the cool new items that Nicholas the Traveler is giving out. Tonics that turn you into a random monster from the game, summoning a merchant to you in an explorable area, the cottontail tonic, new minipets and a few new weapons. The new Zaishen Challenge Quests look interesting too. Hope it won't take too long to get a 20 slot equipment pack.

Ugh I can't remember my ncsoft account info. I know my login to GW but no idea what the account for NCsoft would be since it was 4 years or so ago and I never use it. Of course support hasn't responded yet and I sent the request on Friday.

I'm in the same position, can't figure out how to get the free storage from the website and when I try to get it from in the game store it wants to charge me $9.99.

You have to do it through the NCSoft store not the in-game store. Contact support if you can't remember your username. If you haven't been on in a few days, the site is much faster now as they added on more servers.
I have seen people on other forums getting response back from support, so give it time if you need to reach them. The promotion is good to the end of May 31, so there's still plenty of time.
