Wow, according to that article, there will only be one X-box 360 available at launch (with 20GB hd and apparently without the DVD burner and Tivo-like functions).

If this has backwards compatibility and launches at $300, MS will have taken a big step in the right direction with me.

So, let me get this straight...Britney has black hair?

Seriously though, I like the idea (and I'm sure many others do too) of having the unit completely wireless. The thing will look clean sitting in an entertainment rack when in use or when off.

An upgradeable harddrive? I wonder what for. This is probably a hint that the Tivo like functions will be supported later on and will be possible for all Xbox 360 consoles, but what of the DVD burner? There was no mention of a swappable optic drive. I guess we'll have to see.

3 USB ports and another 2 unidentified. This may possibly be firewire simply because there was a mention of the ability to upload pictures from a digital camera. So why not a video camera as well. I also like how we'll be able to send pics/videos through Xbox Live. Or one of them may be a way to hook up your iPod and transfer data.

Memory card support said "at least" 64Mb. I would also like to see more.

Lots of good stuff here. The only thing I still want to know is...does Britney really have black hair?

How seriously should we take that German magazine's statement that Halo 3 would be a launch title?

I'm guessing not at all?

I'm not too hyped on PD0. The screenshots on 1up look blah to me BUT maybe it plays better than it looks. I never played the first one although a lot of people here really dug it.

Concerning software news:

Upto 16 at launch sounds overly optimistic. Has any of the consoles here in the US launched with that many? And even if they did manage that many I have my doubts on the quality of those games. I wonder how long the developers were working on them.

Halo 3 coming out this year is more like Halo 2.5 coming with higher resolution and textures. A few new maps and couple of new weapons/enemies but I hope I'm wrong and the game kicks ass.

Peter Molyneux? I've lost faith in people who claim to give the world and deliver much less.

NBA 2K6...bring it on!

Project Gotham 3 for those who enjoy the Kudos system. I didn't even bother with PG2.

Fisher Price Nuclear Plant? Sounds like a way to teach our youth how to become terrorists.

Lastly, while not having anything to do with software, it's good to see that the phrase, "wtf?" is universal.

http://www.ourcolony.net/ has a video up. Probably what should have been shown in place of whatever that was on MTV last night.

Also, some sites with Xbox 360 game footage:

http://www.mtv.com/games/video_games/xbox/index.jhtml

http://www.gametrailers.com/ check the front page.

When I clicked on that site, I got a message "To help protect your computer, Internet Explorer has blocked the download from this site". Have you folks at Microsoft EVER heard of synergy?

Things like this make me want to get excited about the 360, but I can't help recurring feeling of the xbox launch of 2001, they promised many of the same things four years ago and still have yet to deliver.

Def. like this video a little bit more then the MTV thing, no game footage though.

Gamespot noticed something during the ourcolony video that may imply backwards compatibility: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/05...s_6124365.html of course, since it has yet to be confirmed by M$, take it for what you will.

Also, www.xbox360.com has launched. Not too much info as of yet, but it does allow you to rotate the Xbox360 and controller. Pretty cool since I have yet to see the additional triggers on the controller.

Totally agree. Now if this thing does have backwards compatibility, I'm sold.

I knew I should've bought that website....www.xbox360.com I don't think there was anything for it about a month ago.

I finally was able to checkout the back of the x360 on www.xbox360.com! It only has 1 ethenet, 1 power, 1 usb, and a small panel door, that I'd guess is for a wireless attenna.

The ourcolony video shows the antenna right behind the faceplate, I believe.

The console still looks really large to me (unless the Japanese guys is really small)

I don't think it's fair to judge the launch on the MTV special (which sucked). The our colony video was better but still the games will be the deciding factor. I don't think user will upgrade for the same games with prettier graphics IMO. I also feel like this announcement completely took the wind out of the XBOX 1's sail

It does look large still, but the other picks showed it to be a little narrower than the original PS2, but a little deeper, that's small enough for me.

Plus it's not as much a concern as it's sleeker and would look ok (other than being white but you can change faceplates to fix that) in an HT.

I don't mind the size of the console..they gotta put all that carp inside anyways. I guess I have the room though, and my original XBOX is fine with me. (sizewise that is)

Also, will the HDD be BIGGER? will is be like an external HDD?
