I have been recently been playing Halo 2 and just bought the XBox 360. When I first tried playing Halo 2 on the Xbox 360, I had to download the 3 sets of free maps, which I did.
My question is, how do I get the other maps that are available? It looks like there are 21 total maps that are available. Some came with Halo 2 and some were free downloadable maps. But I haven't been able to find (on the XBox 360 Live Dashboard) where I can download the remaining maps that cost $$$. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanx Chris |

It just seems that we haven't played some of those maps during Rumble Training. Are some maps only for certain areas of XBox Live? Chris |

Halo 2 Gets Map-Happy
New downloadable content. March 30, 2007 - Microsoft and Bungie today announced the release of two downloadable maps for Halo 2. The maps will be made available as premium downloadable content for Xbox and Xbox 360. If you were one of the many fans out there who lamented the absence of certain Halo maps in Halo 2, then this announcement should make your day. Both maps released are recreations developed by Bungie and Certain Affinity, and are redesigned for optimal online play. The pair of maps will sell for $4 total, and will be available through the in-game content downloader for both Xbox and Xbox 360. The first of the two reimagined maps is Hang 'Em High, possibly the most popular map from the original title. The map has been retrofitted for Halo 2 with new graphics, features, and hidden surprises. The map has been renamed Tombstone for its Halo 2 introduction. The second of the two maps is a remake of Derelict, now known as Desolation. The map has gotten the Halo 2 treatment and received a graphical and gameplay overhaul, making for faster-paced and more balanced skirmishes. While this news has likely made many of you weep for joy, you will still need to contain yourselves for the next few weeks. The "new" maps will be released on April 17. IGN.com |
I don't mind paying the $4 but I hate pay maps just because it limits their use in matchmaking since not everyone will have them.
|
Well it has been so long since the last batch of maps I doubt anyone will have any issues with ponying up for these.
Hang em high is my all time fave. Derelict is good as well. That was a map we generally did with a golden gun type setup. |
Halo 2 Forever!
New maps now available. April 17, 2007 - In one month, on May 16, thousands of lucky gamers will experience the Halo 3 multiplayer beta. But how can any Halo devotee hope to survive the long wait for the most anticipated beta in console history? By playing Halo 2, of course! The Halo 2 Blastacular Map Pack is now available extending the life of Master Chief's second foray onto consoles. In such notable moments in history, it's okay for a grown man to cry. The new pack, which work on Xbox and Xbox 360, runs $4 and includes two maps: Tombstone and Desolation. Please note that you cannot purchase the map pack with Microsoft Points. Original Xbox games don't recognize "points" even on a 360. You will need to have a valid credit card on file with your Xbox Live account in order to snag the new maps. Tombstone and Desolation will be added to the Halo 2 multiplayer play list shortly, but can still be enjoyed in unranked matches for the time being. IGN.com |
So you have to put in the HALO 2 disc and use the old Download screen to get the maps because you can't buy it on Marketplace right?
|
This blows. I can't download the fucking maps. I go to the Halo 2 download screen and it says "Premium Content not activated" and nothing happens.
Bullshit. |
Xbox rep said the servers for the maps are down.
|
Has anyone been able to download the maps? I don't even see it listed anywhere on Marketplace?

Sweet, thanks. I like the look of the new maps. Lots of creepy sounds, weapons galore on both...I can't wait intil they're thrown into the mix.

Here's what I get.
Fire up the 360, go into Halo 2. Go into Content Download. Oops, sorry, your account "does not allow Premium Purchases" --- please change your settings. Takes me to a screen where no such settings exist. Wash, rinse, repeat. |

The new maps are only available via Xbox Live, and specifically, through the Halo 2 interface (from the Downloads item on the main menu), which while a blessing for original Xbox owners, presents a couple of minor challenges for 360 users. But nothing too scary. Xbox 360 made it possible to buy a Live Account and Marketplace points without a credit card – so we apologize for the following inconvenience if you’re a 360 owner with no credit card attached to your Live account, but thanks to Halo 2’s olde school tech, this is the simplest way to do it: Account Management In the Xbox Dashboard, select the profile that you want to modify, and then select Account Management. Select Memberships. Select the membership that you want to update. Select Change Payment Options. Select Add Credit Card. Enter the credit card information for the card that you want to add. This can also be a debit or Visa (or similar) gift card, however, some restrictions may apply. Now that’s the hard stuff out of the way, there are a couple of other things to note about the maps. For the first week or so, they will only be available in Custom Games, giving players the chance to download them before rolling them into Matchmaking. That should happen in about a week, barring any unforeseen circumstances. |

Oh goddy they fixed the error.*
* Replaced it with an installation error. |
I was able to get the maps by adding a second credit card.
They are really buggy maps. I've found at least 3 holes on the levels and numerous invisible walls. |
Finally works.
Way to go Bungie. |
