The melee power seems to be spotty, kind of like grenades which seem to have gotten weaker IMHO.

Yeah!! I noticed A LOT of that shit last night. :grunt: I'd come up behind a guy, melee, his shields would register but no kill. In the past melees from behind were a sure kill.

I had this problem a few weeks ago with Halo 2. I couldn't finish a match it kept dropping out with about a minute left in the match. Really frustrating. Fortunately I had a spare router I tried out, now it works fine.

kakihara1 07-21-05 07:52 AM

I don't understand the cheating is seems to be getting worse and worse the more bungie patches it. The other day Beandip and I were playing a game on Warlock and the guys were taking point blank shotgun blasts like they were bb guns and melee attacks like as if I were hitting them with a pillow, as if this wasn't suspicious enough...........I was battling it out with one of the guys on top of one of the platforms and he turned and jumped off toward the middle of the map but when he hit the ground he immediatly launched toward the cieling, hmm I didn't know master chief had a jetpack. One more little thing they kept doing was running to the same point in the map where they would just dissappear........WTF!!!!!!!!

Oh obviously after that game was over they had to talk shit to us about how bad we suck at the game...........yeah I left feedback but why bother at this point; it accomplishes nothing. -ohbfrank-

Good job Bungie!

The update does not stop people from cheating (bungie never said that it would) it only makes it easier to ban those who do mod.

mmconhea 07-21-05 08:25 AM

you but you would think after warning people fo the update, cheating wouldn't be on the rise, like it seems now..

The update won't prevent cheating. I feel that modders will just be more subtle. Instead of the super speed, super jump, super shot... their speed hacks will just be a small amount faster than normal, jumps just a bit higher and shots, just a bit better. That way they just have an advantage whilst playing and not everyone knows they are cheating and will leave feedback.

Yeah but the fact of the matter is that the people who are cheating and are getting feedback aren't getting banned like they should.........those guys we were playing against on Warlock had to have had a modded xbox therefore bungie should be able to recognize that fact and ban them but don't. I can garauntee you I'm not the first one to leave these guys feedback and still nothing is done about it, why shouldn't I be able to play for an entire night without running into a cheater? Does that seem like too much to ask? Seriously man I know there will always be cheaters but they should be the minority not the majority; I can't go for three games in a row in matchmaking without running into someone who is either modding or exploiting bugs, and that's sad, nevermind the fact that I have to listen to a bunch of foul mouthed grade schoolers talk shit all night every time I play, honestly when I think about it sometimes I have a hard time deciding what sounds like more fun playing Halo 2 or cleaning my apartment. :(

Xander 07-21-05 10:18 AM

We played a bunch of games last night and don't think we ran into any cheaters. The lag, however, was horrific. Especially for me, for some reason. We had a couple of games where everyone else was okay, but my connection was in the red. Weird. Hopefully the cheaters/modders will start to disappear now that Bungie has their new detection system in place. Still liking the new maps, but damn do I not know my way around Terminal yet. Yikes.

sdcrym 07-21-05 10:22 AM

You can send an email to [email protected] with the game information and the cheater as a more direct form of feedback. The ingame feedback is for xbox live in general, while the email is specifically for bungie. More info on bungie's site.

I was playing CTF and this one guy on the other team was moving at lightning speeds. Never saw that before.

I've seen that and I saw a guy who was seemingly disappearing and appearing in different locations. I thought it was lag but now I'm not so sure based on what I'm reading here.

Michael Corvin 07-22-05 06:34 AM

wow. I haven't played online in a couple weeks. Sounds like everything has gone downhill.

Man honestly I think people who are modding with an altered xbox are able to use invisible portals or something, I know it sounds rediculous but based on what I've seen it's the only explaination because they seem to have to run to these spots on the map in order to get away from you.

Canis Firebrand 07-22-05 08:39 AM

I don't know how good that email address is or if they just are swamped.

There was one game about 3-4 weeks ago on Containment. The guy was using super jump, super speed, auto-aim and any weapon he used fired sniper rounds.

I emailed off the game info and stuff to the halo cheat email as well as leaving him cheating feedback in game.

As of yesterday, the guy isn't banned and has recent games.

I'm pretty sure others left him cheating feedback in game and sent the info to the email address.

And some people are too quick to jump to alleging cheating at times.

Last night, we played a big team battle game. It was land grab on containment with 5 total territories.

The game starts, and its pretty neck in neck. I think we had 3 territories, and the other team has 2.

The game goes to blue screen, we lose a player. When the game comes back, they are going on about us cheating, and esp in the post game carnage report.

But the funny thing is. After we came back from the blue screen, I was on the opposite side of the map from where I was when it went to blue screen. Also, in coming back from the blue screen. The other team had all the territories, except for one that was unclaimed. Funny how before the blue screen, we had 3 and they had 2. Wow. I wonder who really did cheat.

We managed to still win at the end by taking over more territories then them. It was close though. We were down about 4 minutes at one point.

The funniest thing about it was one guy on their team claming "you guys cheated. I've got video. I'm gonna send it to Bungie. We're leaving you cheating feedback"

We laughed and told them go ahead since we didn't do anything. lol.. some people are funny.

yeah man it's a bunch of shit, I'm going to start keeping a hand written log of every time I encounter a cheater; gamertag and offense while I'm playing then I'm going to e-mail bungie individually for every single offense and then monitor all these guys and see how many get the Ban Hammer

My prediction...............ZERO!!

Not that it matters but here's the article on the "patch" at Gamespot.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/07...s_6129522.html

I haven't got the map pack yet and after reading comments here and else where I'm having second thoughts. Why spend $$$ for more frustration and on-line experience that leaves a bad taste in your mouth. This maybe a wait-and-see deal but patience is wearing thin with honest gamers who just want to have fun and play straight.

I think it's a combination of Bungie's ego with a hot selling game and they looked upon it as harmless "frat" isolated fun. It'll be interesting on what they play for Halo 3 with the 360.

Since the patch I haven't experienced any modding.

you're lucky. I know I'm not the best Halo player but dammit, while to a point I don't mind having my ass handed to me fair and square by a talented player, getting it handed to me by friggin' cheaters is infuriating. Especially when you realize there's nothing much you can do.

tjr2mental 07-23-05 11:05 AM

Buzz, the reason that you should get it is so that you can still play the custom games that we all love to play. Take last night as an example, we had 10 people in our group, and were having a blast at playing the new maps with some new game types that people had come up with. Only thing was that we were then joined by someone who did not have the maps yet. Yea, we ended up playing on the older maps but seeing how we have played those for 9 months now they get stale like all things.

Heck, I will offer you the same thing I offered someone else... Send me your address and I will mail the map pack disk to you so that you can load them up. Once you finish just send it back when you get the chance.

LOL sorry guys i'll have to go rent that map pack

tjr2mental 07-23-05 12:20 PM

jr, I do not mean to single you out. It is just that it has occured more then once.. and we do not mean anything when we pick on you for not having them (but I am sure you figured this out by now) just that it is more funwhen we can play any map at any time.

jrbrangi 07-23-05 12:57 PM

oh i know, I only got back into the game a few days ago and when I left playing, none of the maps had even come out yet hehe.

Giantrobo 08-01-05 10:31 AM

Ok, so since I bought the map pack I think I've only played 3 of the new maps. What gives? I've played, that small island, the City with the trains running through it, and the small town area with the crashed alien walker thingy that has the big doors that creak open when walk through them. The 1st two seem to always come up.

When I play rumble pit, I don't even get any of the new maps.

Are these new maps primarily for custom games?

If you want to play the new maps now in matchmaking you have to play either Team Preview or Rumble Preview. The regular matchmaking games are only for the free maps. After this summer when all the maps are free then the preview options will go away and all the maps will be integrated into the regular matchmade options.

Oh ok. I finally got to play on that forest map yesterday. I liked it.
