The DS will allow full onlnie which allow people to visit other towns online and do things, perhaps like a virtual community.

IGN has some good hands on comments regarding Nintendogs and some new screenshots of Pac-Pix.
Does anyone think that Nintendogs could become like the next Tomagachi? Obviously the saturation point will be smaller considering the massive increase in unit cost over one of those, but especially in Japan I see this game moving a lot of hardware.

I agree, in Japan Nintendogs has the potential to be almost a Pokemon type franchise for Nintendo.
I think its going to do well in the US too. My wife wants that game and I think it will be a good piece of software that will appeal to a really wide audience.

Yeah, it should be huge in Japan.
I have my doubts over here. I think it will sell well, but it won't be some crazy multi-million selling pop culture phenomenon like it could be in Japan.
I'm not interested in it myself, as I've never cared for these virtual pet type games.

Nintendogs Gets Perfect Score!
April 26, 2005
by: Chris Playo
Thats right, Nintendo's latest DS venture receives a perfect score from the prestigious Japanese magazine Famitsu.
This weeks edition of Famitsu, a highly regarded Japanese gaming publication, brought with it exciting news for fans of the DS. Nintendo's first party simulation title, Nintendogs was given a perfect score, 40 out of 40 from the typically conservative magazine. The list of games given an overall score of 40 is comprised of some of the most regarded games in history. The DS title joins the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Vagrant Story, and Soul Calibur.

Holy @#$%...
I thought it looked good, but dang that is hard to pull off. That news deserves its own thread IMO. It's been a while since there was a 40/40 on a handheld.

Holy shit. That's huge. Only four other games EVER have gotten a 40, and this magazine has been around since the original Famicom (Nintendo) in Japan. Jeff, no portable has ever gotten a 40 before.

Hehe, that's what I thought... Wasn't positive and didn't want to put my foot in my mouth, I did a search but couldn't find any confirmation either way. I found a list of the only 40/40 games, but it was under the title "Consoles"
Thanks for the info, I think I'm going to make a new post...

My God, I'm shocked at that score! I've thought Nintendogs looked awesome all this time, but I never thought it would pull that in. I'm glad though, because it went from a "maybe" purchase to a "must have".
On another note, I just got Pac-Pix and I'm havine a great time with it. I bought the DS for the "different" games like this, so if you ask me Pac-Pix is a must own game also.

My son has been saving his money for a DS since last Fall (it takes a long time with .50 and .25 chores). He is probably going to go into major begging mode when Nintendogs comes out. I am really glad it is going to be a good game since he has gotten burned a few times.
