Nintendo: A Cappella style

Saw this on milk and cookies and I loved it. An A Cappella group does a bunch of nintendo meledies.

The first part reminded me of the stages in Super Mario Sunshine without the water pack, only the game sounded better.

The Tetris bit was classic, though they should have one straight-piece guy just hanging out over on the side havin' a smoke.

What was the second song they sang? I couldn't place it. The "invincible mario" part was great.

Thanks for sharing this.

Sounds like Dr. Mario, but I may be wrong.

that was awesome! loved the zelda and falling tetris blocks. both of those songs also sound really good acapella.

the second song was dr. mario, the one immediately afterwords (where the guy initiates the baseline) was the hammer bros. music from super mario 3. they probably noticed that that smb3 hammer bros music is actually a remix of the dr. mario music.

Boy, if that doesn't speak about the enduring recognizability of Nintendo games, I don't know what to say.

Exactly. That was awesome. Watched it twice. They are pretty talented.

Zelda was amazing.

That must be one geeky University for the entire audience to "get it".

That was pretty sweet, thanks for the link.
Only song on there I didn't recognize was (I guess) Dr. Mario. Never played it, though.

Yeah how about that? But then Mario's theme is so recognizable especially for college age kids (assuming thats where this took place). My mother tried to play it once but the hand eye coordination needed to play was just beyond her, but I bet dollars to doughnuts that she could recognize the first levels theme (considering how much she had to hear me play it).

"All original works from Japan."

What's funny is that I do this ALL the time, beat boxing old video game tunes (and some new ones from time to time). My girlfriend and some of her net friends are supposed to be doing a live band thing at some con this summer where they're going to play video game music. I convinced her to get them to do "Katamari on the Rocks," that ought to be interesting.

That would be so cool. I love that game; do a recording and post it. It would be great to hear.

That was fucking brilliant. Loved it. Now - can someone point me to a downloadable link? Also - I'd like a high quality mp3.

Thanks for this post.

I would imagine most any college age kid would be familiar with those games, especially the upperclassmen.
