a guy at EB said they would get them in between 5 and 7 tonight, but to come at 7 because they would have to get them ready to sell or something. hopefully he is right because I can't wait for this game and I forgot to reserve a copy.

See? I reserved one, and not only was the dude full of it, it was pointless for me to reserve it.
I bet I can walk in there tomorrow and ask for one and say I didn't reserve it, and get one. I am going to try it, and see what they say. Then I'll tell them about my pre-order.

I picked my copy up at a local EB tonight at 5. Played about 2 hours on it and have absolutely loved it. I chose the Scholar Ling character but edited her to make her heavier on chi. I'm using Thousand Cuts and Heavenly Wave. Also, the lion statue puzzle was kind of neat... it did take me several minutes to find in the menues something that expolained the reward you get from it though.

Dang. The Fry's deal isn't the same online. It's $44.99 on their website.
Now I'll have to find some stuff to trade in to Gamestop.

You're right. They're more like a wherehouse full of electronics and software (think Costco). They have locations in Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, San Jose, and Washington.
Some of these places have corn growing near them, so you might be next to one.

was able to pick up a copy at EB today around 6. without a pre-order.
so far I've played a little over 4 hours of this game and it is really enjoyable. the combat in the game ranges from fighting bandits and demons one on one, to fighting really large groups of them. it is all real time combat with small hits of KOTOR mixed in for good measure (being able to switch styles, changing targets, healing, etc etc).

The fighting is very smooth. It isn't turnbased like KOTOR was at all, you switch targets and change styles on the fly. You also choose a quick low damage attack, a power attack (which breaks a block), block, cartwheel to dodge, or do a special attack that clears a radius of enemies around you.
The combos are relatively simple: a,a is one simple combo a,a,a is another one. Once you get into the harmonic combos they get more comples. You have to tag them with a heavy attack using a support style (maybe a magic style would work as well) and then a small timer starts counting down under their feet. If you switch to a martial style and finish them off with that before the timer counts down they explode in a burst of blood and you get a powerup (health, chi, focus, or something that makes all your attacks unblockable for a period of time). The powerup depends on what support style you started the combo off with. Very slick system really.

I was also thinking of seeing if they have it at Gamestop, and buying it there. That way I can tell the EB guy straight up that he lost my business because he lied to me, and Gamestop has it now.
Of course this would be until Gamestop pisses me off again, which is pretty frequently.

I got this last night too. I am slowly figuring out the fighting style, but the story and graphics has already won me over. This game is like Ninja Gaiden meets KOTOR (somewhat).

it's the only version they had (I think) I don't think it even says it's a special edition. It's a little heavier (and the back has the description of the extras).

I know I remember reading it somewhere in this thread, the Limited Edition gets you another character and combat style. I wonder if they'll decide to make it downloadable sometime down the line. Bioware didn't say that the extra character was "exclusive" to the Limited Edition.

also from what I read the first shipment or two that retailers are getting of this game will be the special edition, after that only regular editions.

I don't know. I don't follow release dates and new games that closely. Sorry, if it's already out and/or my post was confusing. I'd imagine it's the same one as in OXM (but I wouldn't know).
