Thanks, the thing about Metal Slug, is that you can continue to rack up your points, it doesnt reset your score when you continue.
I had over 500,000 when I beat the game, but I was hitting printscreen instead of F12 at the beginning. I can rebeat the game and post another score, but it is not as impressive as the other games. |

Ah yes, I did read the rule, but there is no way to know if you actually continued or not.
I made it to level 3 without using a continue, scoring atleast 100,000 points from what I can remember, games like this one that doesn't reset the score makes it very difficult to give an accurate winner. Not doubting the impressive 150k+ score, just speaking my mind. |

Wow Lampei, I didn't know you had it in you! I was just going to defend your honor and say that there is no way Lampei is a cheater because he rarely wins. :D If anybody's a cheater around here it's D300 or devilshalo :p
I don't think anybody has ever won by cheating. I mean that both philisophically and literally. There was that time ~M~ used the keyboard for bowling, but we caught him and reprimanded him severely. |
Damn it ~M~, you ruined my joke!
OK, we are a week into these slight changes, I have a suggestion for a new rule. Specifically for playing the old games. What do you think about posting an INP file when playing free-for-all games like Donkey Kong Jr? Maybe not so much a rule, as it is a strong suggestion, because I'd really like to see those when people get super high scores. Especially if they beat the previous score by a large margin, not like the current Donkey Kong Jr. scrum that's going on now. |
Cheating takes all the fun out of the competition. If we were playing for money, then that would be a different story .
Roto, I finally figured out how to create a INP file, because I was going to submit some scores to MARP. If you want to see some of my games, let me know which ones. |
Cool! Missile Command is the first one that pops into my head :D but after you get on MARP I believe you will be able to give us a link to all your recordings that are posted there.
|
The Missile Command file would be huge. :) I am trying to beat the score with the modified rule of only 4 cities, no extra cities. So far I can beat the 2nd place score.
|
I think INP files compress really well, so it shouldn't be too huge if you zip them first. I think I have enough space to host INP files for the free-for-all if people would like them posted with their scores.
We'll see if the list just gets too long, but I might post all the scores that beat the previous weekly winners. I'll probably have to limit it to the top 3 or 5 scores for each game. Also, I think the next thread will probably go from April 1st to the 15th. Pay day seems like a good time to change games. I still would like input from you guys though. I know ~M~ wanted to keep it weekly, but he doesn't have to make the new threads and update the webpage, plus he's an admitted cheater. :p |

<img src="http://img34.exs.cx/img34/8702/pole00041zh.png"> How did you get up to 313km? The pole position that I was playing, the max was 288km. |
I was playing the rom polepos with Mame .67 I don't know why this version goes faster. Looking back I see we're supposed to be playing the Atari Version which is in mph instead of km. Even Roto was playing the wrong version. We need a ruling here Roto :)
This page shows screenshots of going over 288km too. |
This is the best I've done by far.

I didn't beat it by much, but maybe this will motivate someone to post a decent Frogger score.
http://img174.exs.cx/img174/9389/frog00039bc.png inp recorded with MAME32 .94 |
OK, I just played all 3 versions of Pole Position in MAME32 .94. All 3 used KM and they all topped out at 288. If your car goes faster than that for whatever reason, so be it as long as you aren't messing with the dip switch settings. I'm not going to tell people they have to use certain versions of mame.
Edit: I tried messing with the analog settings for the pedals, no difference. It must just be the older version of MAME that D300 is using. My official ruling for now is to ignore it. The only way to get MPH was to change a dip switch, and I didn't see anything to change the top speed. |
To add to the confusion, I tried the Atari versions and they show up in MPH. Could it be the different versions of Mame? I haven't changed any settings, so I don't know what's going on.
|
It has to be the different versions of MAME. They change little things like that all the time. Get with the times, man! ;)
I think we ran into this with Ms. pacman because you crybabies couldn't stand playing it at normal speed. They changed it from being a seperate rom set for the speed hack to a dip switch. |
