Video Game Magazines, trash?
I have 100 or so PC and video game magazines from the past few years that I am about to trash. The last 3-4 years of Maximum PC, Gamepro, EGM, Gamefan, etc
I know that there is a mild market for them on ebay, but the time and other costs to list them to get a few bucks isn't worth my while.
I hate to throw things away if anyone has a use for them. Any takers or ideas?
If nothing else, I'll drop them off at the local hospital.

I had about 200+ magazines(FHM,Maxim,EGM,OXM,PSM,Seventeen,ect..) and I gave them away to friends and other people who wanted them. The rest of the magazines went to the garbage.

I save Maxim and various issues of other mags. i.e. any with Brooke Burke, Monica Bellucci or J.Love H. on the cover.
As far as game mags, I used to keep one here an there for a complete strategy guide or something if I knew I was going to pick up the game eventually. 98% time I don't use strategy guides, but they are there for that 2%. But lately any strategy guide you need can be found online, so now I toss them all.

I have no idea why, but I have pretty much every issue of Wired. At some point I realized that I had all of them and couldn't bring myself to throw them away. I can't imagine what shipping would be so I doubt eBay would be worth it.

I am in the same position.
I have collected every OXM magazine and every Xbox Nation since issues #1. I also have all the demo discs as well.
I thought about trying to sell the magazines in a lot on Ebay but I figure the shipping would be killer.

I just toss mine. EGM is the only one I really even read. Thankfully my free OXM expired, but Gamepro just keeps coming.
I do love EGM's reviews though. I've been reading them for years and trust them much more than the online sites. Works fine for me since I hardly every buy anything around launch anyway, other than games like Metroid, Mario, Zelda, etc. that I don't need to read a review for. Thus the occasionally review a month after launch isn't a big deal for me.

If I find some old issues, such as couple years or more, I skim through one more time before tossing them. It's fun to see things like "the top 100 games coming this year" and how many actually made it, which we never heard of again, etc.

Get a recycling bin if you can - I usually go through my magazines once a month and recycle the ones I've already read. I can't understand why anyone would hold onto a magazine - it's a periodical, guess what? There's another one coming out next month!
If you take them to a hospital, you're just perpetuating the problem of outdated waiting room literature...

I've got EGMs back to about issue 16 or so, and now I can't bring myself to get rid of them. We get other game mags from time to time, but those we keep for a few months, then I'll snip any articles or guides I want to save.

I too just give them to away. Actually I just put them all in bags, and when they get in big stacks give them to my mother. She has friends, and friends with kids who always are looking forward to my old magazines.. Same with clothes.. Better to do something nice then make very little money I figure.

Actually, giving them to the hospitals isn't a bad idea. Contact their pediatrics wing and see if they would be interested in them for the unfortunate kiddies who are stuck there.
I always hate throwing magazines away. I don't know why, it seems wasteful. I recently cleaned out a bunch of the freebies that I've gotten through this wonderful forum . . . of course the Entertainment Weekly with Lindsay Lohan stayed in the keeper pile!

If anybody was to decide to ebay any big lots of mags, dont worry too much about the shipping. If you send media mail, you can usually send quite a bit of poundage for less than $10.00
