Help with Logitech Wireless PS2 Controller
I recently purchased a Logitech Wireless PS2 Controller through ebay. The seller stated that the item required (2) batteries, which indicated that the controller was a newer model - as opposed to the older model that required (4) AA batteries.
I received the controller, which came new in it's original plastic packaging. However, when I finally got around to opening the item, I noticed that it required (4) AA batteries, which indicated it was the older model. This wasn't a big deal at the time, until I finally got around to trying out the controller - only to find out that it was inoperable. No response from the controller, but the plug-in worked. I tried replacing the batteries and several of the troubleshooting steps on the Logitech website - all to no avail.
I emailed tech support who determined that the unit was defective and that I needed to call for a RMA number and that if the item was under a year old it would be replaced free. I was told that I didn't even need a receipt as the model number/product number indicated the date the controller was made. Great I thought, I'll get it switched out and all will be well.
However, when I called the customer service number I found out that the controller I have is over a year old. So unless I can produce a receipt, I'm out of luck. I'll I bit distressed due to the fact that the controller was only purchased a month ago, abit on ebay and never worked. The seller won't do anything so I'm left with an expenisve paperweight unless I can produce a receipt. The service rep stated that even if the item was purchased on ebay, as long as I can get a receipt I'd be ok. Well the seller has seemed to avoid my email attempts.
Seeing as how I honestly purchased the controller, I thought perhaps someone else who purchased this controller between Dec/Jan might be able to email me a copy of their receipt so that I can get this controller replaced? My only other option would be to go after the seller, perhaps for falsely listing the item (i.e. 2 vs 4 batteries), but from other horror story, I feel this would not end up fixing my problem.
Any help or other advice is appreciated.

Why not just print your purchase confirmation? That should count as a receipt.

Yeah, your ebay purchase confirmation should work. I printed that out and used it for rebates, so I think it should work for warranties. Thats too bad the seller ripped you off. I hope you didn't pay more than retail price for it.

If you paid via Paypal or a credit card you might still be able to do a chargeback on the seller stating item received was not as described. I think you're more than entitled to this because A) The controller is not the one described B) It does not work.
These things usually work in the buyers favor...

Thanks for the feedback!
I'll see if I can get a copy of the confirmation page. Hopefully it will list all the pertinent information and allow me to make a warranty claim. If not, guess I'll just chalk it up to a buyer beware.
