A few more bugs in 2k5 (I am beginning to sound like a broken record)
It seems no matter where you are (LA, Chicago, even San Diego) you can see your pitchers breath when they pitch. I know for a fact that there aren't that many days in April in LA and San Diego that could cause that. An annoying bug to say the least.
When you field a grouder, the person that catches the ball gets the credit. For example, A-Rod fields the ball, and throws it to Jeter for the force at 2nd, and the announcer says "what a play by Jeter" even though it was A-Rod that dove for it, and simply tossed it to Jeter.
I have heard the umpire say "FAIR BALL....FOUL" several times. It's like he can't make up his mind.
After a win, my catcher and pitcher congratulate each other with a few high fives, and a hug. Then the scene changes to show more players celebrating. Then it goes right back to the catcher high fiving the pitcher (as if he never did before) but this time he's out of his gear, as if he came from the bench.
Weird.....

Yeah, I've noticed a few bugs in 2K5 (probably mentioned)
- I played Baltimore 3 times in my career and Sosa did not bat, their pitcher did....lame.
- Passed ball happens WAY too much
- Also have where my runner stops between 2nd and 3rd on passed ball.
I'm sure there are more....it's still a fun game though. I may have to play with sliders, but LEGEND mode made the game more competitive. I was blowing out the CPU on all other modes. Plus, MUST use PURE BASEBALL, not that SlamZone crap.

MLB 2006 is getting some pretty good reviews too... some say that it's better than both MVP and 2K5. The screenshots are definitely pretty and it has some interesting franchise/career options.
I've been waiting to see what Nintendo's Pennant Chase has to offer but it also looks like I should check out MLB. Hmmm.

As far as MLB 2006...there are many people angry about the game freezing up a lot. Not sure what is up with that as well as some screwed up stats.

Having not played a baseball game a lot since High Heat 2002 on the PC, I decided to pick up MVP (XBox). I'm only playing Pro level (don't laugh) but I threw a perfect game with Mussina! I'm only 6-7 overall, either I get a lot of runs and win like 10-1, or I get 3 hits and lose 2-0 (even on my perfect game, I only won 1-0 on an error in the 8th against Wells). I'm having a ton of fun so far, though - my only problem, as with every baseball game I've ever played, is that I can't resist mashing the button real hard when I swing. My thumb hurts all day now. Reminds me of the two cheap PC control pads I broke playing High Heat over and over.

Toys R Us is selling MVP for $19.99. Is that a sale price or has the price universally dropped?
I don't trust a game that can't get the year right.

So to rephrase my original response: If it's common it just plain stinks and I'll continue to wait for Pennant Chase.

Just noticed another bug in 2k5. I am 17 games into a season as the Padres, 16-1, and I am 4th in the power rankings. The top team, at 4-15 is Arizona. I noticed they are alphabetizing the city names by division to determine the rankings. So it was Arizona, Colorado, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco for the top 5, regardless of record.
This goes along with the no players of the week/month award and no hot and cold hitters if you play a season. If you sim the games, they work fine.
Frustrating.

I like the game, just seems to be some statistical glitches. Also, do players EVER TIRE DURING THE SEASON?????
All of my players always have a full health bar.

So, does anyone know about players tiring in MLB 2K5????? Kinda lame that they don't.
Also, what setting in the sliders do I need to set to STOP CPU passed balls? I never get any, and the cpu get 3-4 a game

So I played MLB 2006 for about an hour. I like it alot.
First of all, I had no freezes or lockups (knock on wood), so that's a good thing.
When you start a game, the announcer says stuff like "Welcome to this spring training game here at Vero Beach" which is a nice touch. He also goes one by one through both teams starting lineup, with little comments (the former Blue Jay hit 30 HR's last year, etc) for some players.
He called the Angels the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and even commented on how long the name was. I don't like the name change but at least MLB 2006 is recognizing it. ESPN ignored it, and not sure what MVP does.
There are little headlines after your games, which are a nice touch as well. At the beginning of the season, there was one about Schilling and the Red Sox looking to defend their title, which was cool.
They also have a feature where you can fast forward time. Like say you created a player, and you only want to play his at bats, you can. Or you don't feel like playing defense, and want to bat the whole game, you can. The computer will handle the responsibilities. It's definitely a cool new feature. My only gripe so far is the loading time. Way too long, but I guess that's the PS2 for you.
I'll post more when I get another chance to play, but so far I am liking this one more then ESPN.

IGN's review is up for MLB too. The reviewer said he had more fun with MLB than MVP and ESPN. But the number rating was higher for MVP. He loved the create-a-player career mode.

Yeah the career mode is cool. I complained too much about the manager, and they released me
Another little thing I noticed is that the other games (MVP did last year, not sure about this year, but ESPN did the past 2 years) will show McGwire as the single season HR champ (since Bonds isn't in the MLBPA) and MLB 2006 shows nobody as the record holder, but still has the number 73 to beat. I'd rather have the actual record then a name up there.

I'd definitely pick it up, it's very fun and addicting. I am going to pick up MVP 2005 today at TRU for $20, so I'll divide my time between the two games. I am trading ESPN in, the bugs finally got to me.

There may also be a fix for MLB on the freeze ups there as well. It sacrafices the presentation but many have started to be able to play without any problems.
