Anyone having more trouble hitting in MVP 2005 than last year's? It was tricky at first last year, but I caught on quickly. This year, the strike zone is lower to correspond with the pitcher's mound, so perhaps the "new" K Zone is what's throwing me off, but holy shit, I suck ass at hitting. My team in Owner's Mode is the bomb at pitching, but thanks to my pitiful hitting, I'm like 3-6. Anyone having similar problems or got any tips to improve my hitting?

Vlad is awesome, indeed. His 9 RBI game vs the Sox last year was incredible. He has one of the purest swings in baseball. He just swings at the first pitch alot

I played some MVP 2005 on Live today and it was great. The last game went to 22 innings and i ended up finally scoring 4 runs to win it. Struck the other guy out 24 times (he got me 13 times). First time i've played a baseball game online and it was a fucking blast. It's a great game for $30.

I havent noticed a difference in the hitting at all... but i do know what youre saying about the mound and the strike zone. I suggest the Hitting Mini-Game. It's a blast to play, and it will defieneitly improve your offensive game.

So from the comments, MVP is the one to get, huh?

I haven't played MVP, but I can recommend 2k5, despite all the bugs.

Unfortunately, I found another bug. I found that Joe Morgan will often say "That's his 3rd hit/HR/etc of the game" right before the guy comes up.

Say Manny has 3 hits in the game, and Ortiz is batting behind him and is 0-3 or 1-3, etc. He'll say "that's his 3rd hit today" after Ortiz gets a hit regardless of whether it's his 1st or 2nd hit. The key is the guy in front of him (Manny) having had 3 hits already. Really annoying.

But what can I say, I still love the game

Sounds like ESPN is glitchy but still good. I think the SLAM ZONE soudns just plain retarded. MVP has been great. I'm renting it right now, and HOPEFULLY ESPN shows up in the mail today so I can compare.

I have no real complaints though with MVP. Playing a Dynasty and it's great. Only on PRO mode, as I could nto win anything on ALL-PRO. I may have to jump it up again though.....

A couple more weird things on ESPN 2k5...

Everytime I play the Rangers (yes every single time) their pitcher bats. Park, Rogers, Dickey, whoever, they're always batting somewhere in the lineup. DH is on, of course.

Sometimes when I get the wild pitch bug, my runner on 2nd goes halfway to 3rd, stops, and then heads back to 2nd. Keep in mind he had more then enough time to not only get to 3rd, but probably get halfway to home before the catcher recovered the ball.

Way too many diving catches....first it was the line drive outs that made me mad, now I see all these leaping and diving catches.

i played mvp on the gamecube last night and it is awesome. the only gripe i have is that it takes FOREVER to save your dynasty to the memory card. felt like 2 minutes.

I'm getting the PSP version too. What would be cool for the PS2 version is if you could take your saved dynasty and load it on to the PSP so you could play your season at home or on the road. They should consider that for future versions.

I've been holding off on this decision, but it sounds like MVP is the one to go with.

Are there any impressions on the delayed Nintendo Pennant Chase game? It looks like it will have a very deep owner/management mode, but will there be any hope for the gameplay?

It looks intriguing, but at $50 it better be fantastic. It is apparently from the makers of WS 2K3, which is a good sign gameplay-wise.

Well, I finally got 2K5 in the mail yesterday. I played about 3 or 4 games and I have to say the gameplay and franchise mode seem much better in MVP. The fielding seems odd in 2K5. Not that it's a bad game, just not as great. I'm still not sure which one I will keep. I only rented MVP, so maybe I'll pick it up when it's $20 also....

I'm using Pareds, but both of the top slider makers (Jist/Pared) are good choices.

...which will apparently be next week at TRU. I have MLB 2K5 and haven't opened it. Thinking about returning it and getting MVP instead, if it is really better. More thoughts would be appreciated.

So I got MVP and have a few questions, wondering if anyone has come across this stuff too:

What do you have to do in Owner's mode to make your fans happy? I just started, but I'm 13-0 and the fan meter hasn't moved one bit. Now Im not expecting to go from 10K fans to a sell out in less than a month, but don't you think if a team started out 13-0 fans would be happier than they were at the begining of the season?

Anyone else having a lot worse time hitting than last year's MVP? With me its nothing but singles and HRs and even those are sorta rare. Last year rookie difficulty mode games were like 22-0, this year pitching still dominates but I've had games 2-0, 3-1, 4-0. And just like last year left handed hitters are playing like crap. I think one Jim Thome HR was all the left handed HRs I hit in last years game, and while I have 2 left handed HRs in 13 games this year, their averages are shit compared to my right handers. Pitching is cake, got a no hitter and 2 perfect games already, but hitting is horrible. What am I doing wrong? I thought maybe the left handed thing was a glitch in the game but now that its happening on another year of the game I know its me and not the game.

Well, I'm keeping 2K5 now....it has grown on me. I still like some things about MVP, but 2K5 is just as good. I don't have any need for two baseball games either
