Just pulled out some Guilty Gear X last night. Admittedly it's since been ported to PS2 but it still rocks on DC .

I fell in love hard with Jet Grind Radio and it's still one of my favorite games (sadly I don't think the sequel held onto the originals charm, still a fun game though). That was one of those games that changes how you see things y'know(like frequency or Ico)? One of the first times I considered a game to have some artistic merit.

I loved my DC (I was an early adopter and bough an import and later modded that to play US games proper). One of the last systems to have a character and an identity if that makes any sense (the same way the NES, SNES, Genesis did). Sega really knew how to make some interesting games. The one thing I hated about the system though was playing fighting games on it. the shoulder buttons were impossible for me as they made my fingers get tired rather quickly(when they needed to be used constantly). So much so that I changed my button layout for Marvel vs. Capcom to make them the weak punch and kick buttons and never used them.

I think I'll go pick me up a used one and play through Jet Grind again.

The DVD is great! It basically shows all the key scenes that had to do with the story. I think its about somewhere between an hour and a half to two hours. At the time when i saw it (right b4 i played Shenmue II), it satisfied my urge for revisiting part one. But i think theres nothing better than actually popping in the game into your DC and reliving it all over again. Theres alot of things you can do on your own that you just cant watch on the DVD. But the DVD is great nonetheless for providing all the backround information for people who never played the 1st one and also great for fans of the series as well. Shenmue II is great as well

I love my Dreamcast. I hadn't owned a console (big PC gamer) since the Genesis, and on a whim I bought one in late 2000. It showed me that quirky japaneese games could be more fun than FPSs that double for graphic demos. I love Jet Set Radio, such an artistic game, Sonic Adventure 2 took my breath away, NFL2k series WOW, Project Justice, RE:CV, the list continues of great games. DC also piqued my interest in racing games, a genre I consider one of my favorites now, with racers like MSR, Ferrari 355, Daytona and my all time fav Test Drive: LeMans. Me and 3 friends actually played the 24hour race over a weekend, man that was fun.

Dreamcast rocks, my Dreamcast is broken now, Skies of Arcadia is the best RPG game I ever played, I don't have it though (Lost it) but I do have it for the Gamecube though. NFL series is the best football game I ever played, I have the NFL 2K2 game and Shemue is a damn good game, I also have that one. I wanted to play Shemue 2 but I hate the X-Box and don't really want to buy the X-Box just because of Sheume 2, I looked for X-Box games I could be interested but none interested me so far.

You should be able to locate the PAL Shenmue 2 for DC on ebay or something. As long as your DC is modded, or you have one of the import game loader cds (like freeloader) then you will be able to play it.

You don't need to mod your DC to play imports. I had Shenmue 2 as an import, and just had a boot disk to run it. There are multiple boot disks that work. I'm pretty sure a gameshark works, or you can get the Utopia boot disc (granted it's not an official product) which also gets the imports to work.

nonetheless, I picked up a new system after reading this thread and wanting to play my old games. I also got a vmu, something I never had (always had a third party mem card). So, I'm being amused by that thing. First things first, I have to play through Code Veronica, but I gave a few spins with Daytona after picking that up, and intend to go through Jet grind Radio again, perhaps my fave DC game (and, definately better than Future, which is stil decent though).

After that, I think I'll go look for some sailors.

For those who r still into their DC, Gamerush has DC games for .99 cents and DC systems for 9.99. Yes, it's unlikely to find anything left anymore, but u never know. Some people have gotten maracas for $2.99 and great games for .99. I picked up in the last week:

Resident Evil
Zombie Revenge
Rippin Riders
Ferrari F355
Varrier
Sega Rally 2
Sega GT
Mars Matrix
Powerstone
Dead or Alive 2
Air Force Delta
Hydrothunder
Virtua Striker 2
Soul Calibur
Sonic Shuffle
Gauntlet Legends
Shen Mue
Crazy Taxi 2

I went to 8 Gamerushes. Go before its all gone!

Dammit why do I always find out about these sales after they run out of every title worth buying. I ran down to my local gamerush and they had a whopping three games, one of which I owned, the other two which sucks.

Ha, I'll have to try another one. Your list has like five games I'd buy for 99 cents.

So...my fighting fingers were itching so I had to pick up another DC

Marvel vs Capcom 2 is just great.

See Hulk jump into the sky and come down on your head with with a HUGE rock
See War Machine drop missles on your head
See Captain America put his sheild on his back while he knocks the snot out of you
See my main Team of Storm, Cable & Magneto kick absolute ass

Along with Soul Calibur and a few other games I'm set and loving it.

Who made the 6 button controller for the DC? I don't remember but I need a few of those now.

i bought the dreamcast the first day at midnight. 9-9-99 was the date. i later broke it using a third-party controller. got it fixed although its probably refurbished. just pulled out nba 2k2, graphics and gameplay still hold up well.

ASCII made a sweet Saturn-style pad for the Dreamcast. Getting hard to find now. There are also some adapters that'll flat-out let you use a Saturn pad on the Dreamcast.. but they're getting hard to find too. Those are your two QUALITY choices.. anything else third party is probably a waste of money. Worst-case scenario you can get a good PS2 6-button pad (there are a few.. the SF2 pads here and the Saturn and Neo Geo pads fro Japan) and a DC->PS2 adapter, which are still commonly found last I checked.

I decided to go ahead and play through the game instead. It was eating away at me that i never beat it, but i made it all the way through this time. I'll still watch the DVD sometime though, once i get around to starting on part 2.

Busted mine out a couple weeks ago. At first I just wanted to go through my games and ditch the ones that I now had on other systems. But now it's getting more play than any of my others.

The Dreamcast ruled. I still can't believe it failed. It boggles my mind. The controller was perfect. Everything about it was near perfect. Soul Calibur STILL looks stunning.

I actually bought an import Dreamcast (a few months before the US release) with 9 games original before I got the US version (I did this so I could own one before anyone else I knew and because I couldn't wait any longer. lol). When I first got the system and put in a game my jaw nearly hit the ground. It was the biggest leap in graphics I'd ever seen on a gaming system. I had one racing game (forgot the title) and the cars almost looked real. The step up in graphical quality from the N64 & PS was just unbelievalble to me at the time. I just don't get how this system could've failed even with a one year head start.
