A Nintendo Revolution version has not been officially announced despite Capcom's exclusivity deal with Nintendo with the previous Resident Evil titles. Capcom has, however, announced that they will be making a separate game for the Revolution that will utilize the Revolution's hardware capabilities and unique controller.

No official release date has been announced. In an interview with executive producer Keiji Inafune published in the Japanese publication Xbox 360ism states that both versions of the game will be released simultaneously if possible, depending on the launch date of the PlayStation 3. The game will have online features that have yet to be disclosed.

As for some of my more difficult fights:

Spoiler:
1) Krauser - I fought him about 30 times before I could finally kill him. I didn't pick up a TMP this time so I had to carefully aim the shotgun or Broken Butterfly to catch him square. I finally said what the hell and started slicing away with my knife. Fortunately, I was able to back him into a corner and got lucky with a few strikes to his head.

2) Sadler - the fight on professional mode is pretty difficult unless you have a lot of grenades and health sprays. Sadler moves to quickly for me to use the sniper rifle so I was forced to come closer to him so I could shoot him with the shotgun or Butterfly. After taking out a few of his "eyes" I had trouble finding his remaining "eyes" to shoot.

After dying about 30 times again, I sold the sniper rifle and purchased a mine thrower. BINGO. You can aim for Sadler's body with the scope and once the mine detonates, you can easily jump on him and stab him. About the only thing the mine thrower is good for since the enemies NEVER drop any mine darts.

When is RE5 going to be released?

I found the professional mode difficult to the point of not being fun. I didn't think the bosses felt that much different from the normal game...but some of the "regular" enemies that moved fast in the normal game like the

drove me absolutely apeshit in professional mode.

even playing through my 4th or 5th time, I find the normal game starting with normal weapons is very balanced. Starting with the typewriter or rocket launcher is too easy and playing in professional is too aggrevating...but the normal game is perfect.

One thing this game desperately needed: Remember the old Tomb Raider games how Lara had a roll move that would pop her up facing the other direction? Something like that would have helped Leon quite a bit...at least with my style of play. I like to keep some distance between myself and the enemies, and it's tough to do when it takes you 10 seconds to turn around.

I think the opening village gang attack only seems so hard because it is so early in the game, you aren't all that comfortable with the controls, and your weapons are weak. On subsequent playthoughs it wasn't all that hard.

ahhh...THAT room. I like to start that one by sniping the red dude in the middle and then taking a few steps up and hitting the shield guys with a grenade. Then just blast away with the shotgun and red9.

In the downstairs room (I think I'm thinking of the right place) I just tuck back in one of the corners with the pressure plates and let em come.

I never really had any trouble covering Ashley...just snipe away. As long as your rifle is upgraded, one shot should do anywhere on the body. Then switch to the shotgun and take out anybody who comes after you.

Agree about the village. Heck, even my first time through, it only took 2-3 tries to get through...just hate those hatchet throwers.

Agree with you there, but I think that just made me figure out cool ways to kill them.

Spoiler:
The part where the dogs attack you as you head towards the church drove me batty since I could get a bead on the dogs. I tried standing on the end of the bridge and sniping at them when the lightning would flash. However, that would just bring all of the running towards me. I died about 10 times, but finally managed to kill them all by just running into the fracas and blasting with my shotgun

As for the bugs, I would just run like hell when I saw one. For someone reason, only a few would chase me so I was able to dispose of them and then run back and repeat the process. My head was melted plenty of times when they overwhelmed me.

"B" + "Down" (on Control stick) wasn't close enough to that? Granted, there is no rolling involved, but you do a 180 degree turn pretty quickly.

Pretty much my exact same strategy.

RE: The weapons discussion we had on the last page

Just went through professional mode again, using the weapons you preferred, and I did like them quite a bit.

Red9 wasn't bad at all. It's a little slower, and takes up more room in the inventory, but it did seem quite a bit more powerful than the Blacktail. Got a lot more "head-pops" with it, too, which is always satisfying. Plus, it's Han Solo's gun, so, come on, that's the coolest part about it. :)

Striker was alright, I guess. I didn't think it was really any better or worse than the Riot Gun, just different.

Broken Butterfly - Alright, I see what you were talking about. Good stuff. And it's free, which is great. And, it's got the coolest reloading animation in the whole game.

That's the neat thing about the fight with Saddler on Pro, though. On regular, you could just shoot the eyes, knife him, and you'd be done with it. On Pro, though, you end up running out of eyes to shoot so not only does the fight go on a little longer, but you need to explore the environment to find stuff to use against him (I didn't even know you could use the cranes to stun him when I first played it through).

One of the more difficult parts for me on Professional was
Spoiler:
the lava room with the 2 big ogres. Sure, it was easy to kill one by dropping him in the lava, but the other one took so many shots. I don't know how many times I had to go down that zip line.

I saw a new copy of RE4 Premimum Edition (PS2) in a store. Is it worth the $50 price tag now?!

I remember reading that the RE creators played around with the Revolution and decided that it just wasn't right for RE, but they loved it, hence the all-new original game.

RE5 will be on PS3 and 360, and will take place during the day in a desert. Lots of wide-open areas. Should be interesting.

In case you didn't already know (I didn't figure it out until about four runs through the game):
Spoiler:
When the El Gigantes are stunned, you can run up to them and do a "Slice" QTE that does more damage than just shooting at the exposed parasite.

I made it through the entire game not even knowing this. In my defense, I think it's really counter-intuitive to get CLOSER to them. Why would any sane person want to get closer?

EXACTLY. Especially considering you had been trained at that point to just shoot at the parasites. I would always just hang back and use a sniper rifle (I really wanted to stay away from them to take the parasite out every time. Took forever, and used a ton of ammo, but it worked.

I didn't figure this out until my third time through...took FOREVER to kill him my first time through.

:D It's not cheap to get the butterfly upgraded, but firepower of 50 is no joke...especially useful in professional mode.

I get where you're coming from on the striker. It is just different. It probably has more to do with my playing style than anything. I let em get real close and then push em back with the wide spread of the stiker.

For me, the story on the red9 is the same as the butterfly...ammo is limited, so I do my best to maximize how powerful it is. For what it's worth, I've changed my mind about the stock too. The red9 is smooooth with the stock...well worth the 3 inventory spaces.

Glad you gave em a shot!

I actually figured this out on my first play through on accident. I had just stunned the first one you fight, but I didn't realize it. I was running like crazy and accidently got too close, and saw a quick A-action button cue pop up on the screen. Didn't get to see what it said because El Gigante got un-stunned, so I just tried again the next time I stunned him.

rotfl

guess i should read instructions...

i still don't find it terribly intuitive, like a button would be, but it works like a charm. heaven knows how i've made it through the game so many times!

Supermallet 04-15-06 02:24 AM

Actually, as awesome as the 180 turn is, I didn't find it that hard to beat the game without it.

Wow, how did you cope. I don't know how you did it. I don't think there is any way I could go back to playing RE without the 180 turn. When did they put it in, 2 or 3? This must be your first RE game huh?

Never bothered with the stock at all. It just takes up too much room, and more-importantly, it kills the whole Han Solo thing. :)

I don't think it was in the original PS version, but I'm pretty sure the 180 degree turn was in the RE remake for Gamecube. From what everybody has been posting, I must have been in the minority in that I barely upgraded my weapons at all. I stuck with the Blacktail for most of the game, upgrading it a few times, but nowhere near special upgrade, or whatever they call it when you max it out. The only thing I upgraded on the 2nd rifle was the ammo capacity. I think the only gun I maxed out was the striker to get the 100 ammo. For some reason, I was always paranoid that I'd need my money for something more important than weapon upgrades, so I wound up with tons extra after beating the game. I guess that's why I was able to buy the Chicago Typewriter so early in my next play through.

No, I owned and loved the first one on PS1...and borrowed the second one for a quick play through...lost interest after that as other games had made the control scheme feel really antiquated.

Probably never would have given RE4 a chance if it weren't for this forum.

For some reason I just don't seem to get sick of this game...it sort of reminds me of the first Syphon Filter that way...feels very similar too.

The Stock is how I was able to do without the bolt action rifle and just go for the Semi-Auto, Definately worth it. As for the Han Solo thing, I never really noticed. I knew there must have been a reason why I liked the gun so much.

I really like the Chicago Typewriter but it also makes me more lazy and ruins the balance I had between all my weapons. Now I try and use a different weapon and just give up and mow them down with the typewriter. Still fun just wrecks the balance I had with all the weapons.

I find that the red9 is accurate enough with the stock that I am 1) waste a lot fewer 9mm shells trying to get a clean head or leg shot and 2) am able to use the 9mm much longer when being swarmed before resorting to the shotgunable. But I'm not sure if I would want to go without the rifle...

Agreed. I played through with it once and it was honestly just boring.
