I bought the Official Wow guide today. 25 bucks but its huge and small print. I figure it will be good for many weeks of bathroom reading. It should also help me when i auction off stuff so i dont get less than a merchant would give me. The maps will also help my wife when she plays her human paladin since neither of us know the city names in the human area.

Actually, when you go to sell an item at the auction house, and drop the item into the sell slot, it enters in 1.5x the value it would sell for at a vendor.

DaveNinja 01-06-05 04:00 PM

ok, thats good to know. i lower the price a lot of the time if the items dont sell.

So how many of you guys are using Cosmos? If any, could you please offer your thoughts and opinions on it. Any strange bugs with it? I may install it tonite but I want to get a little input on it first. Thanks in advance.

Groucho 01-07-05 11:10 AM

I use Cosmos. It has a lot of great stuff bundled with it, but it's also bloated with stuff that I don't use. Originally, it was hard (if not impossible) to turn off the features you didn't want, but thankfully Blizzard added an "Add Ons" button at the character selection screen so you can pick and choose what you want.

Here's some of the stuff I use:

1. Additional skill-bars. Very handy.

2. Totem Stomper for my shaman. Allows you to use one key to cycle through totems. Can also be used by other classes for chain casting.

3. Quest minion. Puts up a cool little window that you can use to keep track of where you are on particular quest. Very handy for the "Kill # of these"/"Collect # of these" quests so you don't have to keep opening up the quest log to see where you are.

4. Census. Looks and sees how many people are playing in your faction right then and there, and keeps a running tally. You can upload the data to www.wowcensus.com and/or www.warcraftrealms.com to share the data with everybody. Very interesting stuff.

So for the peopel who still read/post in this thread regularly, lets get an update of characters/levels/realms:

Glowmer, Troll Hunter, level 13, Cenarius (PvE)
Eladris, Night Elf Warrior, level 6, Darnius (something like that) (PvE)

DaveNinja 01-07-05 01:41 PM

actually its Draenor not Darnius

Ginwen 01-07-05 03:05 PM

Ginwen, Druid, Cenarius, level 6
Gintara, Paladin, Elune, level 28

Groucho 01-07-05 03:08 PM

My only character of consequence is:

Ohcuorg, Level 30 Troll Shaman, Feathermoon (RP)

I have a level 1 Gnome Warrior on Cenarius named "Groucho" waiting for if and when we have an in-game DVDTalk "meet," but as of yet he's unplayed.

young 01-07-05 03:13 PM

Graydeth, 28 Night Elf hunter, Crushridge (PvP)
Graypath, 11 Tauren Shaman, Earthen Ring (RP)

fumanstan 01-07-05 03:21 PM

Noodles, Level 24 Troll Hunter on Crushridge

DaveNinja 01-07-05 04:13 PM

Ginwen: what race is you Druid? NE or Tauren?

Groucho: what are you going to name your next guy? Rouchog? Maybe I'll eventually make a Tauren Druid or Orc Shaman on Feathermoon.

And a Dwarf Paladin on Crushridge.

Joshic 01-07-05 04:18 PM

I use CTMod instead of Cosmos. It adds the extra skillbars and a few other minor improvements. It's not an over-the-top mod, but it's very simple to install and use, and that's what I like about it.

Mirya, level 32 female human warlock on Windrunner

professions: 160 tailoring, 145 enchanting, 180 cooking, 160 fishing

Ginwen 01-07-05 04:32 PM

Night Elf. I can't help thinking of Horde as evil.

timewaster 01-07-05 04:58 PM

those of u using Cosmo or some other gui - I heard that each time a patch is released, you need to download the latest version otherwise it will not work.
Is this true?

Is there a professional trainer after "Artisan"?
My leatherworking is 160 and I need to know if I need to search for another trainer after I reach a certain skilll point level.

Darkfriend 01-08-05 11:54 AM

Not exactly. For a novice user, yes this is the case. But it's not too hard to go in and change the version number in the TOC files that come with the UI. Also, most of the UI's out there have updates out the same day of the patch, so it's not too big of a deal.

DaveNinja 01-10-05 10:45 AM

I started a Human Rogue this weekend. So far i'm at level 7, i think. Rogue is pretty fun. I also got Skinning/Leatherworking which is pretty cool.
My wife is hooked on the game. Her Human Paladin is now level 10.
Anyone here have a paladin and can offer some advice? Whats a good 'battle plan' for a level 10 paladin? like which abilities do you use and in what order? Do you use the "pass judgement"?

Phuzbox 01-10-05 10:59 AM

Phuzbox, Lvl 44 Night Elf Rogue, on Blackhand

timewaster 01-10-05 11:32 AM

Phuz,

what is a good place to lvl for low 40's alliance (i.e. lvl 43)?
I fininshed most the quest in Straglethorn value and got a bunch for Tanaris, but the Tanaris quests are a bit above my level.

Capo2002 01-10-05 12:14 PM

my Druid is now at lvl 40, I play on Deathwing PvP server. Professions are Herbalism/Alchemy.

You should do instances like Scarlet Monastery over and over again to try to gain a couple of levels and then go to Tanaris. SM is so worth it for the XP, loot, and cash.

I actually just finished two quests in the Scarlet Monestary yesterday afternoon. Make sure you have a good party for that zone, the adds can get a bit overwhelming at times. I am basically in the same boat as you, I hit level 44 last night. I did about 6 Taranis quests solo yesterday but you may need atleast one other to help you out on some of them. I'd also recommened hitting up the Badlands and Uldaman for a few if you haven't gone out that way yet. Money seems to be coming in a bit better now, I'm only 17 gold away from buying my striped nightsabre. :)
