The TiVo Community clan is up and running (TiVolutionaries). If you guys are interested in a clan war, let me know. Maybe we can set something up soon.

DamingR 11-12-04 07:45 AM

Communication must improve.

I said this before, but, I think each team needs a designated captain who defines each player's role based on their strengths.

Maybe tonight after some practice we can split into two teams and do some major clan skirmishes. I think we could field an 8 man tean who could be very competitive with Cope, Sypher, Canis, and some of the other more communicative members of the team.

I agree, and I'm down with smackin some clans up, especially if we can get a few TS matches in.

neiname 11-12-04 09:11 AM

Last night was a good time eventhough we kept playing the same damn board over and over.

Giantrobo 11-12-04 09:15 AM

When's the next game?

joseywales 11-12-04 09:24 AM

Yeah, I was hoping that we would play on Coagulation.

What do you guys think about setting the team up like a soccer team (not that I've ever played soccer)?

3 offensive players
2 midfielders
2 defensive players
1 goalie (stands by the flag/base w/ a shotgun or rocket launcher)

I agree with everything except the goalie. If the opposing team were to get your flag they would first have to get through your defensemen; if you add a third person on defense they will have a harder time getting to the flag, and also it doesn't make it look like you have campers because all the players are constanly moving around and making a contribution on the field. So long as we all communicate where the person is going in for the flag or where they are coming out with it, we should be able to mount a pretty strong defense against the attack.

I was involved with a similar strategy last night on Zanzibar where there were only 3 of us against 4 I took the area on the outside of the rock wall where the enemy flag was located we had a player just to the inside of the wall for dual purpose covering offense and defense and we had a guy just outside the base fending off attacks from the opposing team and it worked beautifully we won 4 to 1. Because we had the guy in the middle and a guy outside they were able to communicate to each other when an attacker was coming and where from so they could concentrate on eliminating him/them.

joseywales 11-12-04 09:53 AM

I would suggest five offensive players to overwhelm the base.

You really need to two players to come out of the assualt alive: one with the flag and to watch his back or drive.

Canis Firebrand 11-12-04 10:13 AM

I think 3 offensive
2 that float between offense and defense depending on the situation and 3 defense would work out best.

That way, it gives good coverage overall.

If their team has everyone camped in the flag, the 2 that float can join in the 3 offensive to storm the base.
And if their team swarms our base, those 2 could fall back to defend the flag with the 3 defense players.

The only deviation I might see is to have one person that really knows the maps find the active camo and either the sniper rifle or rocket launcher, find a good spot to hide and clear out their base some

neiname 11-12-04 10:14 AM

I think it makes sense to all have the same emblem. Anyone have any suggestions?

Canis Firebrand 11-12-04 10:17 AM

I just made a post at the clan forum.

Well.. If we want to go all one emblem for major clan battles, that is easy enough to change.
People could set whatever emblem them want for normal play, and then when we get into a clan battle, everyone could change to the preplaned emblem and color.

I think you have to do it before you even get into the lobby, but if we made a post here or at dvdtalk saying at such and such a time, we;re going to set up some clan battles, that way people can prepare.

Thoughts?

Xanager 11-12-04 10:30 AM

IMO, the number of players on offense/defense all depends on the base. Some bases are easier to defend that others, others are easier to take the flag and get out.

Sometimes, I don't like to play defense directly next to the flag or even in the base. Because, if your playing defense on the outside of the base, in the case that you die, you will still have time to respawn and possibly catch them. Of course, on bases with multiple entrances, this can often pose a problem (e.g. Zanzibar powerstation). On these bases, maybe a goalie isn't a bad idea.

Another thing that works wonders for strategy is common sense. Don't grab the flag and then call out, "I've got the flag, I need a hog." Communicate before you get it, so someone will have time to get over there. And if you die, let the warthog know, so they don't just run into a muck of enemies looking for you. Common sense. I'm sure I have other random ideas, but none are coming to me right now :)

Seems like kind of a hassle, although I'm not totally opposed to it. Is the "different emblems, same color scheme" not working well for clan battles?

Cartman, you're approved.

Shuki. Hmmm... you might have to sign up for an account at bungie.net first, then try the clan link.

Can you approve me?

It just seems disorganized. When you are looking at Friend or Foe an emblem appears above their head and it would be a helluva lot easier to recognize if we all had the same emblem.

Copenhagen 11-12-04 11:10 AM

Jolt I already sent you a clan invite.

I didn't see you name on the bungie site so you might want to sign up there as well. The link is in Vryce's sig.

Alot of the clans we played last night had a team emblem, and it just kind of looked more like a team when you saw their team on the matchup screen. Also it looked kind of cool.

I didn't mean to stay up till 4 am last night, but I was having a blast with you guys. Even if I am a little quiet :o I will try to work on that.

DaveNinja 11-12-04 12:08 PM

I got my accounts linked up. please add me to the clan.

That's cool. If someone wants to decide on something, I'm cool with that. There's one that sort of looks like a spinning disc. Might be a good one for a DVD based clan. :)

So how did we end up doing last night? I can't see game-related sites from work. Last I checked (early last night), we were 2-6. Did we beat any other clans?

How can we check our win/loss record? We did fairly well, I would say probably above .500.

I'm hurting from last night, my pregnant wife came out at 4:30am and yelled at me for staying up so late and that it was not healthy because I had to get up at 7am. Needless to sat my participation tonight may be a little spotty but I'll definately be on around 11pm.

neiname 11-12-04 12:34 PM

Found the stats...
