So anyone want to sell me their old PS2 for cheap!

I wouldn't like it just because it isn't compatible with the HDD. I know it's not supported and such but if I found it for cheap I would like the ability to use it. On the other hand this model should be much more durable (not to mention cheaper to produce).

WOW: Playstation 2 is $20 at EBGames now. that was a fast price drop!

GameCube and Xbox system bundles are also $20!

EDIT: Prices back to normal.

You can still see these prices if you go to the sub-menu (XBOX, PS2, etc) and click on the bundles ad looking thing about halfway down the page. However, it won't let you add it to the cart, which sucks ass.

Not being much of a gamer, I think I'll wait even longer for this new version to drop in price before I purchase my (first) PS2.

There is a big use for a HD for a PS2. And noooo....its not for playing FF. I may need to buy and extra one for use with the HD.

I'm sure Sony considers not being able to use HDLoader a big loss for gamers.

you think modchips will work for this or if they'll make new modchips? it's so slender, i wonder if it's worth the trouble for chipmakers to make them for an entirely new system; i'm sure sony totally changed the engineering on the inside too, but i guess it's also only a matter of time

Ebgames and Gamestop have it listed for coming out this week, but the Sony site says November. So I really don't know for sure when it is coming out.

The new PS2 is out but apparently in limited quantities.

This is posted on the EB website.

"Due to a huge demand for the latest PlayStation 2, our initial allocation has sold out! Orders placed after Monday, October 11, will be fulfilled from our next PlayStation 2 allocation, which is expected the week of October 26."

Great. I hope they don't turn out to do it like when they first get released right in time for the holidays. I can already see it mass lines at your local B&M store trying to get that last one that is in stock.

. . .Which is pretty much the same thing that a guy at an Oklahoma City EB Games told me this afternoon. They're sold out of their first shipment (which they're expecting next week), and are now taking preorders on the second wave, and when that's going to come in, they don't know.

I'm gonna take my chances at Wal-Mart/Target/Best Buy/TRU.

Not to sound ignorant, but will the PSTwo be faster? I've been playing Vice City and waiting for stuff to load (cutscenes, saving games, etc) takes seemingly ages.

I've almost forgotten about the cool PS2 load times. After playing the Cube and Xbox for so long that is going to be an experience. It has been a couple of years since I had a PS2 and that was one of the biggest bummers of the console.

Gotta play those PS2 exclusive RPGs though. I've waited long enough to get another one.

I am really surprised at the seemingly insatiable demmand Sony has for the PS2. How did this thing sell out!?! The system's been out for ages and everyone I know who wants one has one. Where does this demmand come from? I'm stumped.

Regardless of what you saw on MTV, newer technology does not make better video games.
