press white to arm the ranged weapon, press the left thumbstick in to zoom in, one click or 2 clicks and move the left thumbstick to aim. then press and hold the blue button to shoot. the longer you hold down the blue, the more powerful the shot.

this is an overall fun game. Ive been playing for about 7 hours now and its a fully functional fun RPG.

That said, KOTOR was MUCH more engrossing-- mostly due to the length of the game, the epic feel of it (story), and the difficulty.

Very fun game. And you're right, not as great as KOTOR, but this had me playing form 6pm until midnight last night, so for me, it's doing many things right. I was kinda shocked and amused when I figured out how to decapitate some of the baddies. The head flying was pretty awesome. The boss battles are pretty weak, but it's still fun for me, since I suck pretty much at any pattern based bosses. The stones were kind of funny.

Anyhow, I think it's pretty great. I can't wait to get back and play more. Question though, I've seen people say they've finished "80%" of the map, is there a statistic or just a general eyeball count of the map?

btw, is there anyway to kill the old man who has his daughter he wants to marry?

No, that "80%" was me eyeballing it. To the game's credit, it was longer than I thought it would be at the time of my earlier posting, and while still no where near KOTOR in terms of overall experience (length, story, etc...) I thought it was a very good RPG, especially for $31 (outpost.com)

How do you buy a house, I for the life of me cannot figure out how to do it.

Thanks,

When I bought my houses, I just walked up to a house and there was a sign that asked "Do you want to buy this house" or such some thing. Press yes, and y ou have a house.

only a few houses are for sale. They have signs in front of them. if you REALLY want a particular house, you can get rid of the owner. There are 2 ways to do that. The obvious evil way (murder them) and a tricky 'good' way.

heres how to do it without 'evil points'
Spoiler:
get the house owner to follow you, then lead them out of town and tell them to stay. you just ran him out of town and the house is now for sale!

There are only a couple for sell early on, one in Bowerstone South and one in Oakvale, they both have signs in front that allow you to buy if you have the money, $1500 and $5k. You can also "create" homes for sale by getting rid of the current owners.

I can't tell what the problem is from reading that thread.

Seems dubious. But I've not had any problems at all... unless I was drunk in-game and the screen was a bit.. uh.. wacky.

Yeah I have the problem that the thread is referring to. Although that thread doesn't really give a good understanding of what it is. Basically, the video in the game is screwed up when running it in 480p. (I assume it's not the case on all tvs, but I have tried 2 HDTVs that have the same issue)

In my xbox settings I have it set that my tv supports 480p (because it does!) and I am using component cables, but when Fable loads, the video gets all funky.

I did get around it, so in case anyone has the same problem:
First, make sure your xbox video settings are set that your tv supports 480p.
Then, you need to load the xbox with the disc tray open so it goes to the xbox menu.
Press down on the two trigger buttons and click in the two thumbsticks at the same time. This should force the xbox menu to go into 480p mode. After that, you can load the game and it's fine.

It's pretty annoying to do that every time you want to play the game, but at least there is a way to make it work.
*edit: After the dashboard has been set to 480p, the next time you load the game you should load into the dashboard first and then load the game. No need to press the buttons again.

I have read some other forums that made it sound like not all xboxs can force the menu into 480p, so it might be necessary to update the dashboard first. (using xbox live I assume. unless there is another way)

I have to ask...are you serious? This honestly sounds like an April Fool's joke.

no joke- the game doesn't send the 480p signal properly

Here are some links to some other sites about the problem:

No problem with the hdtv issue for me although I am disappointed with the game itself.

I've had the game for a week and a half but finally got the chance to play it last night. I made it up to where you can start using the map in the guild and so far so good.

The only side task I didn't complete was killing the sparrow's because I it was 3am and I was beat at that point.

Decent game....I beat it in about 11-12 hours....I did some side quests, but wish I would have done more.

I agree that it was not as compelling as KOTOR.

I am hoping the LOTR rpg and KOTOR2 are great!

Looks like I might be affected as well. I got my game in today from a trade & popped it in to see if it worked okay.

I am getting a picture but it seems to be very bright all over. Is the first area just like this or is this a picture problem. It doesn't appear to be natural looking. My shirt practically glows as do most people's skin. It is kind of hazy looking, almost like a dream-like setting. Is it supposed to look like this or is this due to the problem?

it's probably supposed to look like that, or maybe you have some other kind of problem.

The 480p problem makes the screen completely garbled and not even viewable.

Does it look like that for the whole game or just the first part?

I am almost done with the main game as well. I'd still give it a 9/10. I have to fight with my girlfriend to play it though, lol. She usually watches me play games but she likes Fable alot so go figure

Played it last night and the picture seemed to get better as he got older. Strange. You can tone down the brightness in the game's options so I will probably do that. Not the best looking game graphics wise but I had a lot of fun playing it so far.

Anyone feel that the beginning is alot like Star Wars? The Obi-Wan Guy
Spoiler:
who takes you in after your family gets killed
gives almost the exact same speech to the kid as Obi-Wan gave to Luke.

I just did a little of everything to start out. Was bad & nice at the same time. Unfortunately after I grew to an adult, I goofed around & started fighting with a guard before I did a world save. They took what little gold I had earned & kicked me out of the town. I might go back thru the training quickly & world save right after it is done so I can start over from that point at anytime in the future. Cool game so far & I am barely into it. With games like these & KOTOR, I am slowly becoming an RPG fan (though I know this is RPG-lite).

How many are there total? Is there a final reward or is it just 5 gold and 2 evil per bird?
Anyone know? I was curious about this as well.

I believe he gives you another 5 gold at the end for killing them all.

I don't remember how many total, but the easiest way I found to easily find the birds is to just randomly aim your guy (not in 1st person mode) and you might notice him 'lock' onto something, which should be a bird.

I've been playing Fable since Sunday and am I hooked. One of the things that I love about the game is how involved it feels. The quests don't feel rushed and I like that little unexpected things tend to happen during them. On the negative side though, I wish that there was a proper world map more to the plot.

A question for those playing: is there ay way to do the two quests at the start of the game that are not accessible when picking up the 'kill the wasps at the picnic area' card? I believe the quests are defeat the abdominable snow troll and quell the uprising. Are these just for show or is there any way to do them?

BTW- Gamefaqs doesn't appear to have any info on this.
