I got sick of listening to people jabber, so I'm back on my logitech wireless.

I haven't had too much lag issues lately. My cable company just boosted bandwith, doubled the upload speed. Just an occasional jump here and there. But even with that I still can't host a game with more than 4 players. What's up with that? I'm hardwired to my router, no wireless. Very strong connection.

I don't get that either... only 4 players here too. Maybe only college dorm students with T1 access can host with more people. The jabber of people is... annoying isn't strong enough a word really.

Played more today and didn't have any crashes oddly enough. Had trouble finding a decent server, but not as bad as yesterday. Things will either smooth out or they won't. I'll hang on to the game for awhile anyway in case they do iron out the kinks.

I had another evening of poor servers, crashes and serious lag. I've decided to eBay my copy. I feel like I'm playing it because I paid for it, not because I want to.

Maybe I'll pick it up again when it drops in price, but I've got better games I could be playing.

Why are the vehicles, specifically the flying ones, so damn hard to control? is this part of the realism? I mean I guess some of those might be difficult to fly if they were real but they all seem to be fighting with me.

Anyway, the few "good games" I've had with decent online folks more than paid for this game for me. Unlike Rainbow Six 3, there seems to be more of a fun environment in SW:B. Unlike, the "Kill you and have sex with your intestines" vibe of RS3. There's nothing cooler than a long game where the numbers are close and then suddenly one side starts to coordinate and kick ass.

I'm sorry so many here are having trouble with it online. I admit it is hard to get on. My advice is to try the early morning games.

You may want to go into options and bump up your connection. The first time it said I could only hold four, but when I raised my speed it allowed 13 on my cable modem. Check it out under online options.

The only problem I've had so far on the PS2 version, is when I host a PC dedicated server, my mic doesn't work. I haven't crashed once yet, and lag is about average with any other online game.

The upload requirements of SWBF are pretty hefty, 40kbps per player according to one of the developers. Since many (if not most) cable/DSL users have either 128kbps or 256kbps uploads, this equates to being able to host only a small number--4 or 6 people respectively. If you are one of the lucky few with high upload caps, you will have to change the connection speed setting under the SWBF options to get it to allow you to host more than that. DO NOT do this unless you actually have the upload speed for it though because, if you don't, the game will be bad for everyone.

No, and thank goodness. Stat whores are ruining a lot of XBL games IMO. This game isn't about individual stats anyway. To succees, you must play as a team.

Finally played the demo last night (wasn't in a hurry as I wouldn't pick it up anyway since I don't do online gaming).

The game did nothing for me. It seemed slow, the controls weren't great and the graphics were mediocre.

when I first picked up socom, i hated the controls. now, I am so used to them, it is like second nature to play the game.
I can see how someone could be discouraged by the controls, but trust me you get used to it...

Oh shit! I didn't know you can have a pilot and co-pilot/gunner in the huge At-Ats I've heard people say you can't but I read you could in the Strategy Guide and I did it yesterday and pretty much opened a can of whup ass on HOTH.

It's slower than the Clone walker transport with the cannon on top but it kicks ass.

I also didn't know...most of you probably already knew this:

1. you CAN kill the Heroes. It's not easy...or even recommended but you can.

2. Those r2 units in field repairs vehicles and they're the only way to replenish ammo on the vehicles.

I think grenades are the only way to kill heroes, the easiest (maybe the only) way being to bomb them off a cliff. Still, I think there are better ways to use the conquered planet benefits than using heroes... they're just cooler.

I still hate the way the Xwings control...

How is online play now? I haven't played in a few weeks, but it was very glitchy and people tended to play unorganized. Has it changed any? (I'm mainly talking about play on Xbox live, but any conversation is welcome)

Every once in a while you can find a group that's kinda organized otherwise I think it's rare unless you have people you know. Some days some rooms lag others it's a bit better.

I killed Vader. It took 8 direct hits from an AT-AT but I killed him. I like the game but flying is pretty much impossible. How the hell do you fly these things? Once I get able to actually aim at something I'm too close to it and just ram it. It's so damn frustrating.

Yeah flying sucks. It seems every plane has different controls. Most of the time the best method is stopping over a target and firing down. At least in the Clone Trooper transport plane the other gunner spots allow you let them do the damage. But the single pilot planes suck.

I've yet to see Vader, Luke, Mace, etc. How do you know when they are present? Is there any signal on the map or music that plays?

Many times the server will turn off Heros....so you wont see them.

Yeah most of the time the "heroes" option is off online but you can see them every once in a while. If you have them on in single player you'll always see them. You'll also know because their presence is announced at the start of the round. "Lord Vader has entered the battlefield" etc. If you have 5.1 stereo you can also here the Saber hum from whatever direction the hero is standing/running.

If you shoot at them from a short range they'll target you and kill you with their Saber. On the snow maps Luke has a pilots outfit on and the only thing that distinguishes him from other pilots is his saber.

I finally saw Vader and Luke tonight on Hoth. About 6 of us were blasting Vader with blaster and thermal detonators but the SOB wouldn't die! He'd just flop around in the air like a fish out of water - it looked pretty stupid IMO.
