So, let me get this straight...some peoples order forms/e-mails say bongos only...while others say bongos/game.
Or is that the same thing according to Media Play/Sam Goody.
I think I am going to get extra bongos anyway...but I thought this was a sweet deel for the game + bongos.

Then all I will need are some Maracas for the Dreamcast and some Taco Bell.

I don't think they've shipped yet, they are showing as backordered. Here is the response to the email I sent.
Dear Customer,

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your order recently placed with MediaPlay.com.

In response to your inquiry, we have discovered that there was an error on the website. The order you placed is just for the Bongos. We have completely removied this item from our website. Please advise if you would like us to cancel your order.

well, i emailed and they said they canceled the order... i wonder if it was actually shipped or not? did no one else get a shipment notice?

Damn. I don't know what to do.
I guess I'll have to take back the dance-of-joy I did yesterday thinking I scored the game + bongos for 30 bucks shipped.

Nothing was shipped, so if you want to cancel just send an email to help@mediaplay along with your order number. I asked them to cancel last night, received the cancellation this morning.

I'm keeping my order open. Checking status on the site, it now says "Your order has been shipped". Come release day I'm going to call and complain that I got no email regarding shipment or cancellation. It said game/bongos for $29.26 shipped on my email invoice.

I'll forgive them the mistake, but to just cancel the order without an email notification or explaination is completely unforgivable.

For everyone that got a 'shipping notice' read it closely, the formatting of the email is horrible. There is a 1 that should actually be in the 'backordered' column. If you read your email closely you'll notice that your 'shipping notice' is actually just telling you it's backordered:
Your order did not ship due to BACKORDER ITEMS/S WILL SHIP UPON RECEIPT.
I don't believe anything has shipped, when it does ship it will just be the controller and you can probably yell until you are blue in the face and you won't get the game. They clearly aren't investing a lot in building out the site for ordering online so I seriously doubt they are in a position to take a hit like this from a mistake.

Haven't checked my e-mail yet, but I will be pissed if they canceled my order. At this point I'll take the bongos so I can have two sets.
I can't believe I've secured extra bongos prior to getting the damn game.

i think that is correct. upon re-reading my email, i think the "1" is supposed to be for backordering.

Strange. Strange. Strange.

I have an email that says backordered but when I check the order online, it says it has shipped... but I've received no second email, just the order confirmation.

Oh well, even without the game bongos can be fun.... for five minutes.


edit: Nevermind. The bongos and only the bongos are indeed on their way. Brilliant.

They shouldn't cancel your order, I had to request it be cancelled. I't no great deal at $29.99 so I figure I'll wait. If you want just the bongos then your order should be fine.

Well as everyone expected, MediaPlay will not be honoring these orders. I received an email today confirming my backorder and it states that the order is for Bongos only. When I called to complain about them not honoring their own mistakes, they told me that they will be sending out order cancellations this afternoon with a $5 coupon in them. Pretty poor management of an error on their part in my opinion.

I got the cancellation email, but no $5 coupon. Oh well, I probably wouldn't have used it anyways.

Got cancellation from them (they cited their "terms of service" as reason for cancellation).... no coupon though.
