Crimson Skies advice needed
Well i've been greatly enjoying playing Crimson Skies online - the most fun i've had in a very long time. However, i suck at it. Downright terrible. So, any advice on how to build up the dogfighting skills? The plane i've played with the most is the Desert Fox - it has a faster rate of fire and it's cluster missiles hits a larger area so it can make up for my lack of aiming
But is there a better plane to learn on?
Also, i've sent out like 10 invites to people on here who never responded. At least accept it so i don't feel unloved :tear:

I've noticed the kick ass players know the trick moves and use them to a great advantage. I've seen planes turn on a dime and I can't figure out what combo of clicking and stick turning that does this. They also seem to use BOTH sticks to move more precisely. I favor the left stick over the right and my turns are wider and I get killed quicker.
Good players also keep moving and they can get behind you and fire ammo up your ass quickly and this is a fast killer. While I'm taking aim to kill a player, they're firing at me and I die.
...and btw don't be afraid to use your secondary weapons.

Giantrobo had some good advice. I'm certainly not great, but I have learned to at least hold my own and get a decent standing at the end of the game.
The trick moves are definately good to learn. One thing they allow you to do is get turned around on your opponent to face them down again, or take a sharp turn to get away. They are fairly easy to learn, you just need to learn which directions are which move.
Another thing is learn the maps, at least the general layout. If you know your environment, it can help you esape or get behind, above or below your opponent.
Also, know your special weapon well. Is it good for long range, short range, etc.? I notice many people choose a plane because they favor the special weapon above many other things. Clever use of both your guns and secondary weapon can really help defeat an opponent.
You may want to try out Team Dogfight a lot (my favorite way to play). This helps you watch other people's tactics (who aren't firing at you), as well as learn to work with them. Try and stick to people close to your rank, or in a game with a large and varied spread.
My personal favorite planes are Fury (download) and Dust Devil. I sometimes use the Devastator or Coyote as well.

I've gotten a decent grasp of the major trick moves - which ones do a quick turnaround and which ones are a little slower and whether it drops me up or down. But i see people playing who are doing crazy turns that i can't even begin to keep up with when following them. Perhaps they are turning with both sticks like Giantrobo mentioned.... will have to try that.
The Fury tripped me out to fly because its main gun is a fast fire and its secondary is slow - just seemed odd to me. I do like the one secondary weapon that fires three missiles at once that focus on the target at a medium to long distance.

That should be all the special maneuvers in the link above. Just remember to lead your shots and practice.
