Transformers:Prelude to Energon

Thought I would start a new thread since the release date is about a week away (should be in stores on May 5th)...Anyone picking this one up? I don't like the fact that it's based on armada, but it still looks pretty decent.

I haven't picked it up but I played a demo and it's a very cool game. I hope it makes it to XBOX.

I caught Armada on Cartoon Network, and it really sucked. They've "Pokemoned" my beloved Transformers, If this was based n Generation One, I'd be there on release day. Megatron is a gun, not a bug or a truck or whatever the hell they've turned him into now.

The newer cel shaded toon that takes place after Armada is decent...not Generation 1, but decent. However if this game is fun I just may have to buy it, and if this game does well maybe we will see the G1 PS2 Transformers game here in the states.

Everything I've heard about that game says that it's a blessing they didn't release it here. Apparently it's quite piss-poor.

I think this looks cool, but I don't know why it's so hard for developers to just make a friggin decent G1 game. That's all I've ever wanted.

I played the Energon demo and I was disappointed. It was difficult to get bad guys lined up for close range robot fighting and as a result a large part of the game is sniping, but that's not as fun as it sounds due to the fact that you're a giant robot and can't really hide. The Pokecon thing kind of lends a Mega Man flavor, basing weapon selection largely on the terrain. But it's so damn cool do drive up a hill, catch air, and transform before you hit the ground. Also, the unlockables in the game include PSAs and other retro commercials, so if you buy it you'll want to play it.

Bought it last night, and I am very impressed. The controls are simple enough (the overused phrase Halo style come to mind), and the Pokemon-esque collecting of Mini-Cons doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. There's actually some strategy to finding them because equipping 'cons of similar colors will give your autobot a stat bonus. Plus, you get a separate mini-con partner that allows you to enter a sort of "bullet time", but at the expense of your energon (health meter).

The game looks fantastic and the two levels that I've encountered so far have been huge.

So far, I haven't found any fault with it except that it's based on the Armada universe, but I guess I understand the decision. With an Armada cartoon currently on the air and tons of toys on the shelves, it's not too hard to understand why this game was made instead of one set in the G1 universe.
