You guys DO know that SF2 Anniversary was delayed til January 2005 for the Xbox....but it will be available for PS2 very soon. I hope Capcom and Microsoft are fine tuning the online play.

Well, the PS2 version is supposed to come out this week. I didn't see it in the weekly ads for Best Buy, Circuit City, or Target. It's not on www.bestbuy.com, or www.circuitcity.com either. Is this not getting a wide spread release?

It is getting a wide release; I have no idea why it's not on either Best Buy's or Circuit City's website. I work for Best Buy and can comfirm that they will definately be carrying it. My store has got 20 copies on order that'll be coming in later this week when the game comes out.

The Goods - SF3 is included. All the original SF2 characters are very true to their original versions(World Warrior, Hyper, Super, Super Turbo, Champion Edition). Infact they are too true....some old characters are overpowered and do way too much damage but they have weaknesses as well. Also SF3 is based on the arcade version so its pretty close to arcade perfect as can be.
The Bads - SF2 AE doesnt let you: change stages in vs mode
AI is only that of Super SF2 Turbo. Not WW, CE, or HF or Super.
You cannot adjust the damage settings.
You cannot adjust the audio settings(SE volume and BGM volume)
The controls are VERY unforgiving....they are in a sense "tighter" than ever before.
But overall its worth 30 bux

Here's my thoughts on the game:
The Good:
Graphics and gameplay are arcade perfect for both games. While this isn't that big a deal for SFIII3S since I already own the DC version (though it should be noted that the DC version had some slight differences from the arcade version that have been fixed in this port), it's a big deal for Hyper SFII. Until buying the Aniversary Collection, I've never owned an arcade perfect version of SFII. It's nice to be able to see the all the characters and backgrounds the way they appeared in the arcade.
The game controls really well, regardless of whether you choose to play using an arcade stick or a PS2 controller (I tried it out with both). I never got around to buying an arcade stick for the DC when I had the chance, so playing the DC versions of 6 button fighting games was a major pain in the ass. Thankfully, the PS2 controller is much better than the DC controller and makes playing the game go a lot smoother. I didn't notice any problems with the controls being too tight.
The option of selecting either the arcade version of a soundtrack or the remixed version for both games is a nice option. I found the arranged version of the Hyper SFII soundtrack to be almost unlistenable, so it's nice that I can put on the classic versions of the background music. SFIII's arranged soundtrack is actually pretty good (it was the version of the music used for the DC version), but it's nice that the arcade version was included as well.
While this is only sorta-related to the game, the strategy guide to the game is possibly the best strategy guide for a fighting game I've ever seen released in the US. After years of putting up with what were essentially move lists with pretty pictures, it's nice to see that BradyGames is finally put some effort into their fighting game guides. It's got everything, from a detailed analysis for every character to frame data to character stratagies. It even includes the SFIIITS soundtrack, which until now, has never been released in the US. It's well worth the extra $20.
The inclusion of the SFII animated movie was a nice extra. Also, the arcade intros and end credit sequences for all five SFII games were included as well.
The Bad:
Hyper SFII is rediculously hard. Even on the easiest difficulty setting, the game is still pretty challanging. It took me about ten tries to beat the first character on the medium setting. I'm not gonna bother to find out what playing on the hardest setting is like.
The computer always picks the Super SFII Turbo version of a character. This basically makes the arcade mode of Hyper SFII a glorified version of Super SFII Turbo. There's also the issue of the game becoming unbalanced when trying to play a SFII version of a character against a Super SFII Turbo version of another. Oddly enough, most reviews I've read either barely mentioned the high dificulty and the arcade mode's reliance on Super SFII Turbo characters or simply didn't mention either of those facts at all.
Unfortunately, the version of the SFII animated movie kinda sucks. It's cropped from the original widescreen version, dubbed, censored, and has almost all of the original music replaced. This doesn't really affect my enjoyment of the SFAC as I would have bought the game even if the movie wasn't included, but I still would have prefered that they used the original, uncut widescreen version of the film, especially since the movie has never been released that way in the US.
Overall, it's not a bad game, but I wish the difficutly of the game was a little easier and that the computer mixed up the different versions of the characters instead of always picking the SSFIITurbo versions. It's still worth the $30, even if there are some problems with the game.

i thought the same thing about the controls, but i think they have to do with the horrible ps2 controller, because once i hooked up my joystick, everything was fine. cant wait for the contollers to come out next week.
Hyper SF2 is hard, but "cheap" hard. i put it on hardest and tried to beat it with a regular sf2 character and zangief ket beating me in TWO hits, that's kind of stupid.
no online play really sucks, but i'm just gonna use this as practice till the xbox game comes out.
jesse, u play cvs online anymore?

Argh... wait for Xbox (and Live) or get it now? I can't see Xbox improving graphics any, but I wonder if there will be any other "bonuses"
I'm not all that surprised about the version of the movie... as you said, a subbed version never "officially" came out over here, and if they left it uncensored, it would garner a higher rating and possibly affect sales (though I would think the vast majority of those picking it up are older fans).
Can't wait to get this (for either platform) and use it with my X-Arcade...

This game is awesome! Too bad the control sucks....I dont know what it is...I've never had this much trouble pulling off a dragon punch and flash kicks with a ps2 controller. I think its the diagonals that are unresponsive.
I also wish it included the alpha series (imo the better than sf3).\
And the sf2 animated movie - WE WANT THE JAPANESE DIALOG AND SOUNDTRACK!!!!!!!
NOTHING beats Street Fighter games on Sega Saturn period.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up on the Xbox SF Anniversary Edition that's coming in February.
I have had the Japanese Import for over a month now and I have been playing on Xbox Live with other USA players who also imported the game.
So far the gameplay ROCKS! The interface is very similar to Capcom VS Snk....it would have been nice if Capcom would have made a nice virtual gameroom like DOA2 Ultimate but still this is good enough.
Both SF2 and SF3 support 480P but doesnt support 16:9 mode...so if you are playing on a widescreen TV you may want to readjust your TV settings to a 4:3 view because if you dont the characters look rather stretched.
Street Fighter 3 seems to have a glitch in during the rematch screen when playing online...sometimes the screen goes black and you have to search for another game all over again and sometimes it doesn't. Street Fighter 2 AE has no problems at all when I play online.
The cool thing is that when I put the game into my Xbox it booted up without a hitch(No mods, no nothing!) and everything came up in English.....even my friends list shows up and tells me "Such n Such is playing Street Fighter Anniversary Collection"
The default speed for SF AE is speed 2 which IMO is kinda slow so I always set it to 3. By the looks of it there is going to be TONS of great old skool comp for those of you who think you are/were the king of the hill at SF2. And as you already know you can choose the original version that you love most.....so that means 6 Different Versions of Every SF2 Character ranging from the original SF2 World Warrior all the way up to Super SF2 X The Grand Master Challenge(AKA Super SF2 Turbo here in the states).
Also another cool feature is that when you log onto XBL it shows you how many matches are available overall before you even search for a match....nice little addon there

But it's always hard to find matches.
At least for me anyway. And all my matches have been lag-fests.

Why would they take until February to release the game, if it's already finished and released in Japan? I know a ton of games came out this Xmas season, but I would think they would still target December if it was ready...

I also reset my modem to make sure I have a fresh connection before I play oh XBL eventhough it may or may not effect anything.
Whats ur gamertag?? Mine is Jumpsuit
