Nintendo of America will release a limited edition GBA SP console alongside its upcoming Classic NES series of games.

See it » Nintendo of America has today announced that it will release a limited edition GBA SP console alongside its Classic NES series of games on June 7. The console, which is expect to carry a suggested retail price of $99, is designed to look like the original 1983 NES controller and seems certain to prove every bit as popular as the Famicom-styled GBA SP consoles already released in Japan.

The Classic NES series of games, which will retail for $19.99 each, will include GBA versions of the following titles:

Donkey Kong
Pac-Man
The Legend of Zelda
Super Mario Bros.
Excitebike
Ice Climber
Xevious
Bomberman

"I mean, Donkey Kong and Pac-Man? These are, like, the best games ever," said Perrin "Mallrat" Kaplan, Nintendo of America's terribly hip vice president of marketing and corporate affairs. "And if you aren't just dying to get your hands on the gnarly new Classic NES Limited Edition GBA SP, you're a total dweeb."

Still MSRP $19.99 Each for Classic titles is way too expensive. I may pickup Mario Bros. (That's all)

The $20 price is not something I am lookin forward to, but I assume there will be some sales, or at least the BB GC coupon.

I definately would like Zelda on the go though, and would consider Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros. (although I have the GBC version), Excitebike and maybe Ice Climber, if there was a good sale or something.

Of course, Nintendo has failed to carry over what made the re-released Famicom games so cool in Japan -- miniature versions of the original boxes. Maybe if they had done that and the cartridges were squashed versions of the original gray ones it would be worth $19.99 just for the "neat" factor.

I don't know what country you come from.. but those look like miniature versions of the boxes I remember from my childhood. Sans Zelda being changed from a gold box to black.

I'm assuming you have a modded X box, but if not how did you pull this off?

Yeah, I modded my XBox and backed-up some of my NES games to play on a emulator.

I've already got Zelda and Mario in AC but I can't transfer Zelda to the GBA. I'll probably pick up both games but may just hold of on the SP for the DS later this year.

20 bucks is a lot... but I like the GBA!

Just what everyone was clamoring for : the ability to play Super Mario Bros on a handheld nintendo gaming system!

The idea is....inconcievable!

I like the superfami version of the SP (the hard-to-get limited edition, not the one released with the mini-fami games) much better than this NES SP.

As for games, it *is* possible to play all of those NES classics on the GBA(SP) right now; heck, you can even get over 100 of them on a single [flash] cart.

DAMN! Yes... it's a shame.. that's the best football game ever.... ever... I would play that for hours if I could get my NES out of storage.

I like the the regular fami version (not the limited version) the best. I also like the box it comes in. However this U.S. NES SP looks cool as well.
