Well maybe at the it's hard to hit homers.

I average 3 homers a game on pro mode. My overall record is like 5-2 since I learned to pitch better

Both losses were AAA games. Stupid closer gave up 4 runs and lost the game in the bottom of the 9th

I can't hit homers..i've only hit like 3...all with manny.

Do you guys push UP with the control stick as you swing?

For righties, up-left. Then only swing at pitches from the middle of the plate in. Push the other way if you're being pitched outside.

I think it adds up all the points at the end of the season. I simmed pretty much all of my first season but played about 7-10 games and I didn't notice any MVP points. But when the regular season finished they said that I had earned something like 8000 points.

I push up left, up right, etc, for righties and lefties, and it works great. I use the left stick, but I thought the right stick was the pure swing stick. Not sure

Well I was getting so tired of not getting points, I just did the "Yankees cheat" and got all my sim points and unlocked everything. I mainly wanted all the retro jerseys unlocked so that I can choose freely between them in game. I might start a dynasty with legends in the FA pool later as well. Should be interesting.

I wonder if Cy Young can win the Cy Young?

Just played another AAA game. My pitcher pulled his groin after he gave up a 3 run shot to center. Great timing, eh?

"I gave up a homer, quick fake an injury!!"

I've heard great stories about pitchers getting hit by come-backers and getting hurt. In one case, the pitcher sawed off a guy's bat and the barrell came out and hit him, knocking him out of the game. But last night I hit a liner off a pitcher's face and nothing happened. I went back and watched the replay and sure enough, it popped him right in the grill. Nothing.

Maybe it's a random thing. I remember playing ESPN hockey and I hit a slapshot into a defenseman's knee, and he was out 2-4 months.

I think it's where you sim the season up to the playoffs, then save. Then sim the playoffs. The points you previously saved are back and will be added to double your total. I could be wrong, though.

Yeah, make a new Dynasty with the Yanks, turn off computer initiated traded, injuries, and suspensions. Sim all the games until the playoffs. Then save the dynasty before you hit "Advance to playoffs." Then go ahead and hit it, and you'll get like 9,500 points. Then exit the dynasty without saving, and then reload the dynasty. You can then hit "advance to playoffs" again, and get the same 9,500 points again. Keep doing this until you have 50,000 points (which is the cap) and then use them. When you're done, just load your dynasty again, and get more points. Do this until everything is unlocked. Just remember to save your profile before you turn the game off

I was playing another AAA game, and one of my outfielders bobbled a routine catch, and then caught it before it hit the ground, that was pretty cool. I was still charged an error for it, though

I just bought MLB 2005 last night for PS2. I like it. I like the simpleness of it, the controls are very simple. There's not a meter for every single thing like in MVP. Graphics are good enough for me and the gameplay is good. The only thing I don't like is in roster management, you can't just go around and edit every team's lineup and rotation. You can only do that in your season mode with the team you select, unless I'm missing something. Anyone else own this? Plus, you get a free cap from "New Era" for buying the game.

This game is sweeet. I just got it.. in finally after winning it on ebay for like 40 shipped. I'm loving it, although I can't seem to hit a homerun, I can pitch tough though. Am I blind, I can't seem to find the tutorials you all speak of.

Also does anyone know the date, from which you need to start editing the rosters... I want to have my rosters up-to-date, and not real sure when the cutoff is, or where is a good place to get the trades I need to simulate. Also is there a way to use these rosters in the just play mode, that is what I'll be mainly using playing friends. Thanks

I'm not quite sure where Reynold's tutorial is, but I've heard that it isn't in the GameCube version. I'm not really sure, though.

As far as rosters, they're only current up to 1/15/04. That means A-Rod, I-Rod, Maddux, and a few others are on incorrect teams.

Here is a good site with roster moves after that date:

That would explain it, I have the cube version. Thanks for the info and the site. I'm enjoying it a ton. Also thanks for the unlock tip, can't imagine playing all those games to unlock that stuff. ha

I don't think the tutorial is on the PC version either. I have seen the videos at IGN, so if you're curious, you can watch them there.

I think I'm starting to get the hang of hitting in MVP. With the Marlins, went to the bottom of the 9th against the Expos trailing 7-4. With one out...

Pierre singled
Castillo singled
Lowell hit a ground rule double to right-center (Pierre scored)
Cabrera hit a walk-off 3 run HR

In my dynasty, the Jays put Carlos Delgado on the trading block, and the Red Sox traded Nomar for him straight up.

One day later, Delgado is unhappy, and back on the block.

I love this game

After playing like 5 games, 2 on rookie, 3 on pro, it's really easy to hit homeruns. As the other poster said, just hold the stick up, and hit right up, or left up, depending upon the direction of the pitch. I've had the big hurt hit 5 in one game!!!! Beat the yankees with arod 23-5 in pro... Tell me it's harder on the other levels, else I'm gonna get tired of this pretty fast, except against friends..

Also, to play an exhibition with your custom rosters, do you have to first go into roster management, and load the custom roster everytime.. prior to playing? Seems like a lot of work..

I hardly ever have blowouts on Pro mode. But then again, I don't try to swing for the fences on every pitch

I can't pitch to same my life. Everytime I try to throw out of the zone it ends up right in the middle and knocked for a double. And I'm hitting the accuracy meter right in the green. When I miss that I expect a bad pitch but not every single time. I have yet to record a strikeout.

I also haven't hit a homer yet but I figure that will happen once I get my timing down. I still swing wicked late.

As for the rosters, I don't think there is an automatic load so you have to load them manually each time if you plan on using them.

Ok, played 2 games today, and only had 1 homer in pro mode. Also had a game go 2-1 so I guess, I rushed to judgement. It seems prett realistic in that it depends big time on the pitching matcup. I rocked contras on the yanks like 32-5 or something. Then mussina held me to 1 run the next day.. on the same skill level..

Talk about a brutal schedule. My white sox had 2 in KC, then 4 in NY, can't wait to get my first home game done.

Trading is sorta a pain, seems hard to get some players away from teams, although I'm giving them a great trade. Trying to get the DTrain from Florida. I did trade the big hurt, for Nomar, which gives the sox a ss, they needed so badly. Now if I can just shop Konerko, Koch and Loiza I would be a happy man. Is there a way to generate more revenue? I need more cash..

I had the same problem pitching. You're probably not holding the button down. I wasn't doing that, and now I am pitching much better, getting 4-5 k's a game, allowing 0-3 runs a game.

The rosters auto load if you used them in dynasty mode. But for regular games, they have to be loaded manually.
