PSO III

Has anyone else picked up PSO III for the GameCube? I got it, but didn't get to play it last night. One of my online questing friends was saying that it's pretty sweet, but you can't trade mega-rares. Guess that's to curb duping.

If anyone has played, post some impressions

Love the first game (until it became pay-to-play).

Really hate the idea of ep III..

I've played offline for a couple of missions. Graphically nothing has changed. It still looks the same in visual quality. The gameplay is as you know a card game. You build decks of 30 cards. And you actually create a character who is a commander of the "Story" characters in the offline game. So you'll have several people to choose to go into battle. So far I'm liking it. But it's purely a strategy game in vein of Culdcept, or Card fighter Clash, or Magic the gathering. I'll let you know more when I get further into it. Can't wait to try a Team Battle and Online.

Is it worth renting for Offline play alone?

This game is getting really good reviews surprisingly. I was expecting it to get averagish scores. I never got into the whole PSO games but I've always loved the artwork and music for this game. The reviews I read said the offline game is a complete game in itself pretty much.

Yeah it got game of the month in EGM. Unfortunately EGM only gave it 1/2 of a page of review. So there's not much to read in there. If you can rent it you'll get plenty of play from the offline mode.

It does feel a lot like MTG, just not as involved. So this seems to be all there is, just card battles online. This is great, but $50 for this? They should have put Episodes I and II on the disc as well for ppl new to PSO. I have Eps I & II of course (anybody can email me if they'd like to join a party), but I'm griping because I wanted to get this for my brother and I wanted to do card battles AND quests. Gah! I spend too much money on that guy!

You are definitely a Nice Sibling!

Well at least with PSO III, you can share the same Hunter's license with PSO I+II so you aren't paying double on that.
Also if you want to save on cash, Share your copy of PSO with your brother. You can each have your own memory cards and just fight each other offline. You can have 1-4 on the same cube offline.

anyways just a couple suggestions. Have fun playing!
