There will still be 2D games on it. This is Nintendo you're talking about. Mario and Luigi 2, Super Mario World, Castlevania :).

Check out this pretty cool mock-up of what gamesradar think it'll look like.

Just give me 6 buttons already Nintendo. I would rather have 6 face buttons, but I will settle for the SNES layout.

Here is some new info from GameCube Café:
The connectivity would not however be like that of the Game Boy Advance where you plug a wire into one of the controller ports of the GameCube. Instead, a new Wi-Fi transmitter (which comes packaged with every DS) will be used to connect your DS to your GameCube. It has been confirmed previously that the DS has Wi-Fi capabilities but we were uncertain what it would be used for. Not only will this allow wireless connectivity with the DS, but wireless networking to home networks and other Cubes. So as long as you are in transmittable distance to your Cube, your DS will always stay connected. But where does this Wi-Fi device get plugged into? Previously thought to be totally pointless and useless, Serial Port II is the location that the device will be put. This allows for people with Game Boy Players to have their GBPs and DS Wi-Fi device connected at the same time. |
Bumped...for hilarity.

Closing... due to this never 'panning' out!
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to get back to my 'Lite'. Chris |

Plus, the only reason I have a GBA and GB Player is to play great new 2D games. Thus I really have no interest at this point in the DS or the PSP. Well, except for the PSP part. Have even less interest in it now than I did back then. |

I didn't know why this got bumped until I read the comedy gold contained within.
Now I know why nobody here claimed the handle, "Kreskin". |

Developers rarely utilize additional functionality whether it is built-in (Xbox HD) or even cheap (GBA-GCN link) for anything interesting, if at all, so why would they bother to tinker with something this ambitious on a handheld? |

In other news, stock for Entenmann's has gone up $12.25 a share to $26.75 due to this thread. Apparently, orders for their Apple or Cherry Humble Pie have increased by 700% over the past couple of days.

What an awesome thread bump. I don't think I've ever seen people be more wrong about a system :)

Yep, people were dead wrong on both the PSP and DS.
The DS ended up being the system with the killer games, while the PSP just ended up being a great multimedia device and a fairly weak gaming system in most's esteem do to having 99% of the lineup being PS2 ports and spinoffs and very little fresh to give you a reason to play your portable instead of your PS2. |
