Three of my games shipped today; the others are backordered with an estimated ship date of 1/12. I may be one of the lucky ones who actually gets this deal to work.

I do not think the order always shows up in the account screen until it is confirmed. so you might still get the games.

I picked about 12 games that were all available locally, and chose store pickup. I received an order confirmation email but not pickup email yet . It was 6pm around the time I ordered, so hopefully I get it tomorrow.

I placed two orders. One for in store pickup and one shipped to me. I got a confirmation email for the store pickup but nothing for the other. Only the in store pickup shows up on the website. Everything is on back order also.

As mysteriously as my two orders disappeared, one reappeared last night. I will believe that I got the deal only when they are in hand though. Really want most of the games I ordered, only ordered a couple for trade bait.

Weirdest thing, I had written this deal off and low & behold, I received an order confirmation last night.

Hmmm.... I wonder if it would be possible to do an in-store exchange for some of the titles that were out of stock w/ some of the titles I'm not too thrilled about......

Oops, silly me, getting all carried away like I might actually receive these games!!!

Finally got an email confirmation, looks like i might get in on these deals after all, unless of course the store I chose doesn't feel like picking up one of the 30 copies they had of Medal of Honor ( I was there yesterday ) to give to me.

I had spoken with their cust serv dept yesterday and they informed me there was a glitch with the email confirmation that's why many of us received it today, including me.

I hope they still honor the price, I did in-store p/u for all items and I'm just waiting for the store p/u notification.

Apparently only 3 games that I ordered were in stock. 2 Ghost Recons and 1 Tony Hawk 4, I call that BS.

I just got off the phone with Best Buy, to see if I could pick up the rest of the games at another local store that has them in stock. They tell me "none of these games are available for $5, there was a glitch in our system and all orders placed will be cancelled."

Nothing to be upset over, amazon and a lot of other sites have cancelled orders because of glitches and misprices.

Misprices I can see being somewhat upset over, as if you take something to the register in the store that is mispriced, they'll mark it down for you 9 times out of 10.

But a glitch, where you had to order something to get the other games to come up at the wrong price, like this really isn't something to get upset over when they cancel it.

I mean, how would you feel if you ran a business, and got ripped off because of a stupid computer glitch?

Don't Give Up Hope

Much to my surprise I received a pick-up confirmation for my "mysteriously disappearing" order I placed late yesterday... went in and got over half of my order (the other half is back-ordered, although it looked like they had all of it at the store --- I decided not to draw attention and ask about that).

The desk guy asked "is this one of those 5 for $25 deals or something? I had a few pick-ups like this already".

As an added bonus, since I couldn't select the Xbox version of Splinter Cell, I got the PS2 version for free. Whaddaya know, it's worth $20 more. Looks like I'll be doing some trade-ins soon.

Probably so. Still a glitch though as you could get a bunch of platinum hits for $5, where as this deal sounds like it's limited to 1. Still a pretty good deal though.

CSR over the phone told a friend that BB will be charging credit cards the differrence. I ordered 6 and picked 5 up. Still waiting on the 6th shipping.

I'm not opening mine, just in case I have to return them.

If they were to do that, they would entitle you to a chargeback, since it would be an unauthorized use of your CC. If you allow them to charge $5, they cant say "oops, our mistake, lets charge $20"

I would be shocked if Best Buy would be stupid enough to even try that. They might honor some with still others being cancelled.

I was surprised to get an email confirmation today for the 5 I ordered. Now the wait begins

Of course since I do not have an XBox I will be letting a friend get them from me at cost.

I only ordered for the deal

And if you believe that, you deserve to be charged the full amount. BB has one of two options. 1) Honor the deal. 2) Not honor the deal and cancel your order.

They can't charge you the difference just because they screwed up due to some glitch. Not only would you walk away with the games, you'd more than likely get all the charges reversed.

My order was stuck at "checking store for inventory" all day. Either they ran out, or it's just taking alot longer since everyone and their mother jumped on this.

I got the email p/u notification and went to the store. All the rep said was I had a large order and went to get the games. She rang me up and all the platinum games were $5, she didn't even question it. BB shouldn't be able to charge me the difference since the store processed it at the discount price. 4 of the games I wanted are on back-order and will be shipped to me hopefully without any problems. The last game was the preorder for Sega GT on-line.

Good luck to everyone else.

If they try any funny business like charging me any more for the games they are going to see a nice big charge-back coming their way. I'm not even going to bother going through their customer service number on this one.

FWIW, and theres a huge YMMFV... I went to Sears yesterday w/ my Best Buy order page and attempted to PM Splinter Cell for $5. Well, Splinter Cell was the only game they had from my order page and since it was locked behind glass I had to get someone to open it. A dude comes and helps me out, gets me the game, he tells me that the game is cheaper in Target and I tell him that I wanted to PM and we have a nice chat about how good the deal is, and he points me to the cashier. The cashier PM their reg. priced $49.99 game to $5, and she says that it needs manager approval. She calls the manager and it turns out to be the same dude that helped me out and he approves it w/o a prob. Since Sears has a 10% PM guarantee, I get the game for $3.71 incl. tax! I was so freakin happy that I was even tempted to ask the cashier out but that would just kill the deal with all the money that I would "waste" on her.

I go back today to get a couple more copies of Splinter Cell for a couple of friends, and a different person helps me out today. He unlocks the games and takes me to his tv department cashier thingy. I told him I wanted to PM w/ my BB order page and he proceeds to call Best Buy to check their prices in-store. After they told him it was $29.99 in BB, the dude says they can't PM online prices which is totally BS cause I read their PM policy and u could too PM online prices as long as you have the ordering page. Anyways, I didnt feel like arguing and thanked him for his attempt and left. I should've probably asked for the manager by name...oh well no loss.

So it can be done but i guess it really is at the discretion of the person that helps you out. Sears would probably be my new fav place to buy games but they're so limited in the stocking of video games.

I checked my checking account, and my debit card has been charged $15.60 for the 3 games BestBuy.com has already shipped; there is also a hold placed on my account for $31.20, which is the remaining balance for the other 6 games I ordered (currently backordered). It has been my experience with BestBuy.com that they will only place a hold on my card for more than a day if the items are pending shipment; the hold has been on my card for three days now, so I a pretty certain that I will get the other games when they come off of backorder.
